Environment Files / But For Real: A Really Real Daycycle
« on: January 18, 2025, 08:42:40 PM »
632 days ago, I ascended a nearby hill for the purpose of collecting color data based on the sun's altitude. Finally, today, I can say that this labor has borne fruit. Presenting...

But For Real
A Really Real Daycycle

Experience the stunning golden hour that's actually only 56 minutes! Experience what feelings erupt in you upon witnessing the clouds sail overhead, making way for the rising sun (Cloud simulation not included).
Experience blue hour, the underrated lecherous cousin of golden hour!

You know when you go outside at noon on a clear day and you have to squint because it's too damn bright? This daycycle recreates that because it's REAL AS forget!!!

Cross-referencing field research and actual math (for example, (1/0.8219383334)*1.050764*0.786411^((1/cos(RADIANS(ABS(90-(FRACTION)))))^0.678)), this daycycle should be the perfect recreation of a sunny March 20, 2025 in Quarry Town, MO. Note that Quarry Town is very close to the population average of the US. If you live on the poles or the equator... then I am deeply sorry you live in monkeyland.

Have I convinced you? Tough stuff. DOWNLOAD NOW!!!!!!! VVVVV (feedback welcome)

General Discussion / What is the best colorset
« on: April 18, 2021, 04:57:46 PM »
Just got a new computer and I've been drawn back to this game since it's still the game with the most streamlined building mechanics IMO (plus who knows might build a DM map and host it). I was wondering if Trueno's still reigned supreme or if something else cropped up.

Gallery / Church
« on: April 05, 2020, 08:29:05 PM »
I've been bored so I built a church that may or may not be a part of a larger project. If it looks familiar it's because the build is heavily based on the real-life McCarty Memorial Church. Don't mind the lack of shaders, my computer implodes when I attempt to put them on. And for the lack of photography skills in general, I wish I could fix.

Constructive criticism greatly appreciated

What does this mean? I just moved blockland and its associated files from one computer to this new, better computer. Any help would be appreciated.

I attempted to boot up BL and got this message after a while of a blank launcher. I'm incompetent with this stuff, so what should I do?

Suggestions & Requests / Actually Decent Clear Skybox & Desert Ground
« on: June 19, 2018, 12:00:36 AM »
I can't seem to find any clear skies, and the default one is pretty stuff even after you change its colors.
All the desert ground textures I've seen are either too dark, too noticeable in tiling, low quality, and/or isn't even loving sand.

Thank you for your time.

Suggestions & Requests / 2x High and Wide Print Brick
« on: June 11, 2018, 11:38:03 PM »
I've been searching, but I can't find a print brick that's 2x high and 2x wide. If by this lousy description you don't know what im talking about, here's a picture:

Off Topic / I Need Some Motivation
« on: May 24, 2018, 10:02:26 PM »
As of recently, I've been unusually unmotivated to finish or even start anything. From Blockland builds to continuing a story I've been making, I can't seem to muster up enough willpower and energy to start to build or write. Hell, writing this is already making me tired and its really annoying. I would absolutely love to build a roman palace, continue my story, or draw something worthwhile but none of those are ever realized thank to the lingering thought in my mind: "why put time and effort into this?" I'm quite sure none of you are therapists, but if anyone can either relate or give me tips that would be greatly appreciated.

General Discussion / Building Tips n Tricks v36
« on: May 05, 2018, 11:33:30 PM »
35 threads about building later, and I feel as if the community still hasn't gone over everything. Like, using the tips I've compiled down below, I was able to make a decent build but not something spectacularly good.
The List:
  • Be effective in brick use. Don’t spam unless detail calls for it
  • A build can always be improved. So, improve it.
  • Have patience.
  • Save often.
  • Use references.
  • Plan your base, walls, windows, and doors.
  • Don’t make your build a square.
  • Use color schemes.
  • Let your imagination flow.
  • Don’t be afraid of new ideas.
  • Ramps and round bricks should be used for extra detail.
  • Detail is key.
  • Symmetry usually isn’t a good idea.
  • Lego builds/sets can be used as inspiration.
  • Utilize odd bricks in clever ways.
  • Layer your walls for extra detail, and different colors on the interior and exterior.
  • Stick with a theme and/or style for your build.
  • Don’t focus on getting your build done. Focus on building it.
  • Post your best build in gallery and use the constructive criticism given.
  • Take up as much space as you need, but be sure not to leave empty space.
  • Make sure each addition to the build makes sense.
  • Steal from others builds. Even if it feels dirty, you’re learning how their builds work.
  • If applicable, use the golden rectangle.
  • Don't stop building something because you think it will look bad when it’s done.
  • If you need something to practice on, recreate real-life things from radios to skyscrapers.
  • Rules can be broken. Such as color scheme and symmetry.
  • Expanding off the last tip, know why the rule is there to know when to break it

Give us your own tips that aren't featured in the list so far. I know there's more to it than those tips right up there. And, if you're struggling with building, why not take some pointers from those tips or any other tips in the thread? (thanks to conan and magus, as well as many other forumers for the tips)

Suggestions & Requests / Faster Ground and Water Scroll
« on: April 21, 2018, 08:16:45 PM »
You know how in the Advanced tab in the environmental options, you can make the ground and water scroll? I would like an updated version that shows the exact speed, and has more speed options than just mild car ride.

Suggestions & Requests / Different Window Sizes
« on: April 11, 2018, 05:23:20 PM »
I remember there was an add-on with different sized windows. For example, a 1x2 window, or a 2 brick tall window, etc. all in the style of ordinary Blockland windows. Yes, I did use the search function but to no avail. Thank you for your time.

I want an emmiter where if you put it on a block, birds will circle around the block, or above and around. this would be useful for tall buildings
