Off Topic / Forum Trivia thread
« on: October 12, 2017, 11:16:00 PM »
It's been twelve years since the forum's started, I'm sure there's all sorts of odd stuff we've seen. I'll start us off.

Badspot currently has 420 pages of replies.

It used to be possible to get other user's email addresses by loving with the search function.

Anyone else got anything worth adding?

I remember the first time I laid eyes on Blockland. I was little, uneducated. Didn't know a thing. Now I wish I didn't. Now I'm a regular. I'm stuck here. It's not good for me but I got nowhere else. Tumblr just isn't engaging. Discord is too new to be stable. Google plus...no. Not after the YouTube battle of '09. Too many scars. Lotta good men died. I got bad memories of everywhere else, and this place ain't different. I've seen it all. Changed me. I've taken hits. Made mistakes. Gone where I shouldn't. I can't stand half the people here, and neither can the puppetmaster. Every ban feels like a sniper's .50 BMG wizzing by my head to hit some dumb bastard behind me. Lynchings, seen them. Some new bout of drama every day. Makes me wonder when it'll be my turn.

War never changes...

Shaving advice, questions, possibly answers, brag about being smooth, yell about being scruffy.

I shaved my legs today, and I feel great. Itchy though. Think I forgeted it up. Should I use Nair next time?

I'm not Tony.
Seriously though, I'm not.

The situation has 'stabilized', but the fact remains that those subhuman monkeys are trying to get into the Philippines. If anyone lives on that tiny island, please stay safe.

Edit: News TLDR:
Radical islamic apes were attacking a city in the Philippines. They aren't right this second, apparently.

I heard some kids in the library arguing over the role of prayer and the concept of God in modern society, and I got to thinking about how, in this day and age, it's impossible to calmly and rationally discuss what your beliefs. I'd like to prove it isn't totally impossible.

Rabbotical Rules of Religious Review
Be polite. We aren't crusaders or jihadi maniacs, we're rational humans with a decent concept of grammar and civility. People are going to pray different. Get used to it.
Explain your point. See above. You're going to be discussing your ideas with people that disagree. Explain your point thoroughly.
Do not shun. I don't care what you pray to, but there's zero reason to be a cunt over what others believe. See rule one.
Be cautious when handling holy wars. They're a hot button topic, and I don't want a fistfight over the Crusades.

Happy discussion. The topics will be posted below.

Tracks is one of those tiny games that has fantastic potential. You build a wooden traintrack, just like when you were little, and drive a tiny train along it.

Dev description:

"Design a track with the simple editor, just look in the direction you want the track to go. When you're done, ride along it in a toy train."

Inb4 'on fire' or 'ruins'

I, personally, would imagine someplace like Chicago. Old architecture, but full of people. What do you think?

Edit: upon realization, it clicked I wasn't very clear. What kind of city do you associate with this internet hole? Why? If you were going to build a city to capture the feel of here, how would you go about it? Etc.

"Does/Is it forget"
"forget you you motherloving motherforgeter"
"My computer is forgeted"
"John Le forgeter"
"forgetin[sic] abbot"

This is the funniest thing I've read all week.

feast thyne eyes and ears
I have nothing against the concept of a fan-song. Following a trend that's going to be dead in a few months is just poor taste. Being late to the punch is tacky. Writing Undertale fan songs after the 2-year-olds got to it is irredeemable. Writing eight nine fnaf songs is ungodly. Wrapping it up with stuff lyrics and singing through a metal fan as a gimmick and you're approximately a six on the Riddler scale.
Literally the only redeeming factor is that the wordless tracks are kind of catchy. "Devil's Swing" without the awful lyrics and singing is pretty good, to be honest.

And, for the record, I can take stupid lyrics if the singing is good. I actually liked the DK cartoon's music.

Edit: I know they're a year old. Sue me.

See title. I pray to very old gods from multiple faiths and feel like answering questions to help straighten my thoughts out. Please keep questions related. Thanks.

Edit: I'm now offering magical guidance with as much seriousness as I possibly can. Fingers don't fail me now.

Drama / This NEWS garbage needs to stop
« on: March 27, 2017, 07:27:51 PM »
First off, I'm going to be blunt, I'm a biased motherforgeter. I actually deliver newspapers. I've done it my entire life. I'm not trying to be funny when I say "my mother was delivering papers while I was in the womb", because that happened. I have a high respect for the news. That said,

This is cancer. This is actual loving spam, being thrown on Off Topic without a second thought. It pisses me off I can't turn my head two degrees without seeing some two-bit richardhole posting some irrelevant picture and calling it 'news' while passing it off as a story. It's gotten to the point where it's expected. "What can ya do" and stuff. It shouldn't be. Spam shouldn't be expected. This is only covering idiots like Piecrust that think they're funny. They're stupid, but they aren't actively harmful.

Then there's people like Tony. I don't know him. I have no idea why he's disliked by the community at large. But refusing to put a loving source with your information and posting blatantly fake news that anyone with half a brain and see is bending the truth, over exaggerated, or flat-out made up, refusing to offer any kind of apology without even the decency to lock his own godsdammed threads, honestly makes me question if he's doing this stuff on purpose or if he's actually so braindead he thinks a couple people making radical statements is millions of people demanding a country's figurehead embrace a bastardized version of a controversial religion. And this is assuming his sources- repeatedly claimed to be unreliable by several people- aren't lying through their teeth to start stuff.

This needs to loving stop. Anyone in agreement?

Games / Space Station 13
« on: March 10, 2017, 10:00:46 AM »
SPESS! What is it?
A big thing outside you can explore, but that's not important right now.
SS13 is a multiplayer only top-down roleplaying game set on a space station ran by competent (homicidal) responsible (psychotic) crew (maniacs). It's highly in-depth, features an experienced playerbase, and lets you do just about anything you can think of.

Story here.
Summary for people that don't want to follow the link:
Code: [Select]
The Indiana state legislature is considering an authoritarian bill that would essentially allow police to kill protesters with zero accountability.

Republican senator Jim Tomes introduced Senate Bill 285 in January, though it was given its first committee hearing on Wednesday. The bill authorizes city officials to use “any means necessary” to break up a group of 10 or more protesters blocking traffic, “even to the point of costing lives.”

“A responsible public official shall, not later than 15 minutes after learning of a mass traffic obstruction in the official’s jurisdiction, dispatch all available law enforcement officers … with directions to use any means necessary to clear the roads of the persons unlawfully obstructing vehicular traffic,” the legislation reads.

This is highly unconstitutional and will most likely be thrown out of the government before it can get off the ground, but it's a bad sign of things to come. I'm not a liberal, but holy stuff, it ain't looking good.
