Operation

Bullet Drop Calculator - Aim at a target and press [LIGHT] to lock onto coordinate.
This will calculate the angle required to hit the target. Center the green bar and fire!

Known Issues
Not compatible with strafe steering off
Calculator may not work on VERY long distance players/vehicles but still works on bricks

Operation

Seawolf
Standard-issued attack sub.

Unguided Torcreep - Click to fire, click to detonate
Guided Torcreep - maintain aim on target, click to detonate
ICBM - Launch a UAV to designate a ground coordinate. Depth lock must be engaged at a depth greater than 1 to launch UAV

[Light Key] - toggle lock current depth and raise/lower periscope
[.] - Next weapon
[Shift] - Descend
[Space] - Ascend

UAV
A flying laser pointer used to designate coordinates for the ICBM. Mind the battery and signal strength; if either reaches 0, it will be destroyed.
A destroyed UAV will take 30 secs to regenerate.
Holding laser on will drain the battery faster.
Return to sub to regenerate the battery.

[Mouse1] - Designate coordinate
[Light Key] - Launch ICBM when coordinate designated

So I was looking into a way to import animations from 3ds max to milkshape without the 3ds max 2010 dts exporter. Doing this allows you to utilize all the powerful animation tools 3ds max has to offer. As a preface, I'm using 3ds max 2015 64bit. If you have an edu email you can get it for free over at http://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software/all

So the tool I'm using is an .smd exporter and import made by WallWorm. which works with 2015 although the author did mention that it works in 2012 too. To those not familiar, .smd is the base model file for the Source Game Engine. Since Milkshape was developed with Half life in mind, the solution was to find some way to export/import smds from 3ds max.

Before we start, I should mention that we are exporting the bones with this method and not the model. Just export the model with obj into milkshape.

1. First of all you need a fully animated object in 3ds max with bones.

2. Once you install the plugin, you get a new dropdown with a bunch of smd tool but most importantly the .smd exporter.


Go to WallWorm > WallWorm Exporters > Export SMD/VTA File

Here you have a few things.
  • Reference smd will export the base object and bones with out animations.
  • Sequence smd will export joints from all animated shapes

3. After selecting Sequence SMD, define the animation length under Range and export.

4. In Milkshape, go File > Import > Half Life SMD and the file.

So here we have the animated bones(now joints in milkshape) and all you have to do is import your model in obj and assign model group to its respective bone.

5. Done!
Here's an example if you wanted to follow along.
I've imported these animations from a Counter Strike: Source mod as an example just to show the complexity that could be achieved. Of course there are much more things that can be done such as cloth or physics simulations.

Hi, Im trying to get ghosting to initiate for a controlled object. I looked into scopetoclient but I didn't get any results from

Probably not using it correctly.
This guy seems to have the same issue i was having but he wasn't clear about how it was fixed
 Any thoughts?

Hey guys, long time no see.

I wanted to show off some unique mods I've been working on and promote the idea that some things are possible.


Simultaneous vehicle and turret control.
Control with WASD and Mouse

Developer notes:
So here we have a standard tank model; a base vehicle and a 2nd mount point for the turret.
With vector math, it is totally possible to create a tank that you can drive and shoot.

There was one issue I had to overcome that should be mentioned:
When telling an AIPlayer to look at a position using %obj.setAimLocation(), Torque wrongly adds the base vehicle's rotation to the AI's eye transform.
Here is what it looks like if you dont fix the rotation. The turrets should be aiming at 1 point
I point this out because I think this is the reason why vehicles go in circles if driven by a bot.  With this issue fixed, mods like AIVehicles could be possible.


Final Thoughts
