Off Topic / Fishing Thread: All about the hobby/sport of fishing

Any of y'all out there like fishing? I just got back into it this summer after not having fished pretty much since I was a little kid. As a kid me and my dad were always just fishing for stuff like crappies and sunfish, you know, kid stuff. This spring heard some coworkers talking about fishing and decided I'd try and go catch some bigger fish that I've never caught before, like bass or pike.

Fast forward to this summer, and I've been having pretty good luck. No monsters yet, but I've caught several pike and a couple bass. There's a lake by me I fish often called Normandale Lake, in Bloomington MN, and that's where I catch most everything.

It's funny cause the local DNR doesn't designate this lake as having fish, the lake got drained several years back to combat invasive aquatic vegetation. I see a lot of people fish here and they never catch anything. The general public likes to fish in this channel running under a bridge, but I've never seen anyone catch anything there in the summer months. They fish in stuffty spots
There's a few spots I've found where there is always fish around.

Largest pike I've caught so far was likely around 26 inches. I didn't measure or weigh it, but just estimating it was around the size, over 20 inches for sure. Not bad at all. Just this last weekend caught a pretty little pike there, and caught a reasonably sized smallmouth bass.

Any of you guys into fishing? What do you like to fish for, and where? Favorite lures/rods/reel setups? Discuss general fishing topics here!

Off Topic / My cat passed away today.

Sorry for the somewhat sad posting, but I've been a part of this community for years (despite not having a very good track record) and wanted to vent.

Sadly, my two year old cat passed away today. What happened is that a few days ago she suddenly fell very ill. She refused to eat or drink water, constantly heaved and was breathing heavily, and was very lethargic. I immediately took her to the vet to find out what the deal was. Upon examination nothing seemed to be wrong with her, nothing was stuck in her throat, no obvious lumps or tender areas on her body. The vet concluded they needed X-rays to figure out more of what the problem was. They took them, and they found that my cats lower intestine was swollen and covered in a mucus(?) produced by a sort-of organ cats have. This occurs when the intestines are inflamed. Nothing obvious was clear on the X-ray, as in no foreign object could be detected, so they figured that she swallowed something such as string. Given the dire situation and the fact she wouldn't eat or drink water, we had only one choice; they had to do an exploratory surgery on her lower intestine and find if anything was there, and if so, remove it.

Long story short, they completed the surgery and told us it was a success. They did not find an object, but however found that her entrails were very inflamed and even bloody/raw in some parts. They concluded that this was inflammatory bowel disease, and the plan was the next day (3/19/20) I go pick her up, and start her on meds that induce appetite and meds for pain. Then 10 days later after she'd recovered a bit from the surgery, start her medicine for treating the disease.

The 19th came, and I woke up to an early morning phone call to be presented with a shock. My cat passed away in the middle of the night while sleeping. The surgeon himself was extremely shocked, given her age and no underlying health conditions she was an extremely low risk patient. They said they'd conduct a biopsy to find a definitive cause of death. They conducted the biopsy, and the surgeon believes her death was caused by a very rare but albeit possible negative reaction to the anesthesia. He noted that she was not recovering from the anesthesia that well despite being given a stimulant. They think the anesthesia caused an aryythmia and furthermore, heart failure while she was sleeping. This is rare, but it's not out of the realm of possibility. Like I said the surgeon and staff alike were stunned and seemed pretty depressed about all of this. As am I. I skipped work today and told them what happened, and even now am extremely shocked/sad.

I just wanted to vent, because I'm not sure what else to do right now with myself lol... I owe a ton of money for this surgery now, and am left without my cat. She was so young, and this was all so sudden that it just is kind of mind boggling I guess. Thanks to anyone who cared to read.

How this started

This all started a couple weeks ago in the Apex Legends thread. Deus posted about his aim being bad and I decided to chime in saying my aim sucked with M+KB and I preferred controller/did better with controller on the game. Donnie replied stating that I'm essentially playing with a handicap, fair enough but I disagreed, and added a snotty "more easy kills for me cause I use keyboard and am better than you" comment. It devolved into an argument, read page three and onward. I don't think I am entirely innocent here, I should have just quit posting yes (I eventually just stopped replying to him) but this dude is a loving nut.

Eventually he took to discord and added me to continue this stuff there, I wasn't interested and at this point found him to be pretty annoying so I just blocked him. After people tried re-railing the thread, he decided he NEEDS the last word and cannot simply drop it so he goes on to post this:

At this point I'm pretty much forced to reply to him because he cites some random person in his link wall as me, which it isn't, so at this point I reply just to say it isn't me and I tell him to take a hint and forget off.

He didn't do this whole 'continue my bullstuff elsewhere' shtick to just me either, he did it to Vigil too:

I theorize that he couldn't stop replying and had to continue to a conclusion because he really wants to know he's right/have a mental victory? I don't know, at this point several people have told him to drop it and I gave up on trying to tell him that as well and that finally ended this stuff. Whether I am right or wrong in my argument about peripherals is irrelevant, my point is that Donnie is obsessive and really loving annoying.

Regarding Celau's recent drama, I posted a few times in there and the other day I made the point that I thought pooping on Celau after he's gone is kind of pointless/stupid. Whether you agree(d) or not, fair enough, not really the point. I guess me and Donnie never formally ended our debate, so out of the woodwork he came and decided to chime in. I stated he was taking that whole thing out of context, and apologized to Ike/the others for it seemed I was intending to incite a fight with my point about Celau, which I really didn't mean to. Figured that'd be it.

you are the one that is taking it out of context. "other forms to continue arguments"???. I told you 5 times, people were complaining in the thread about our argument, so I went to Discord, this is normal behavior so you don't clutter a thread with off-topic posts? We made 5 pages of posts in that thread, you realize this???

Help / "Server Could Not Verify Your Blockland ID"

Having a weird issue where I can't join any servers, with the error message listed above. I've tried restarting the game and also re-entering my key, no luck.

I've attached a console log below.

Any ideas?

While in a marine biology class I'm taking we watched the film Blue Planet 2. It's essentially a sequel to the first blue planet, which is all about the ocean and the life in it. During the episode 'Take a Deep Breath', aka deep sea, it was revealed to me that such a phenomena does infact exist.

In deep sea, pools of stuff called brine can build up. It's much denser than water, so it settles at the bottom - but it is a liquid. The episode showed fish and eels sitting on top of the brine pools, and even swimming into them, however it is very toxic and can be lethal if in it too long.

I am in a pickle. I am in NO discords related to this community! I asked around, and found out clique and a lot of other ones are private. I thought I may try to ask on here and see if there are any open ones, or if I can possibly get accepted into a private one somehow.

I talk a lot when I'm not busy, like making conversation, and like to play games/get people together to play games with or talk to. So if that sounds alright, would appreciate if I can pop in

the old thread for this poofed but me and zeubermedic are working on a weapon pack, all the models are done. there are varietys of pistols, smgs, assault rifles, snipers, and lmgs (there's also one carbine). also theres a rocket launcher and grenade launcher

all that needs to be done is the coding, which i am working on right now; it should take atm ost a week to get everything coded.

Drama / Sylvanor/Ant - Banned for no reason

Right off the bat I need to clarify this, I'm not sure who banned me because it's Sylvanor's server, but the server is called "Sylvanor's (now ANT's) ant rp". I've been on this server only one other time, which was a few days ago. I tried to join it today, and I'm met with this message;


So I'm pretty sure the other day when Sylvanor/ANT was hosting this, there was a big build that looked similar to the RPG that heedicalking's building. I looked around, and mentioned that it looked similar, and then left after I was done looking around. Guess I was perma banned for saying that the build looked like the build heedicalking is working on? Whoever banned me for no reason is a handicap.

For some reason I can't join like, any servers on Blockland. I found like two that I could join though. Why can I only join 1 out of like 20 servers?

Modification Help / Blocko-Armaments - New weapon pack in the works

Me and ZeUberMedic are working on a new weapon pack called Blocko-Armaments (for now). The weapons are primarily influenced by HK/T+T, but we want to make it more flashy/simplistic. The aim is to make a weapon pack with general use for any server needing guns. As of right now we have decided to divide the weapons into 4 classifications; Covert, Battle, Assault, Retro - and the weapons will be color coded. We aren't 100 percent on exactly there will be in the pack weapon wise - but we want to make a variety of SMG's, rifles, pistols, shotguns, machine guns, snipers, and maybe a couple explosive weapons. And no, this will not be another one of those projects that just stops getting worked on and nobody gets to use it. There is a definite plan to release the weapons.

Not sure why it isn't spawning me with weapons in king of ghosts, I have all the weapons and stuff needed and in the gamemode.cs it executes the weapons, so why wont I spawn with any?

Modification Help / Looking to make a weapon pack, but need a modeler

I want to make a weapon pack, but I'd need a modeler. Specifically, I want to make weapons that would have an all around use for anything, really. It'd be cool to make them have limited ammo, but I'm not really sure how to do that in the realms of coding without using someone else's ammo code. I have someone who will do all the weapon sounds, I just need someone who's willing to model/brainstorm weapon ideas.

Weapons like this are a cool idea/style - they're Jakeblade's models.



I think I like Khain's model style more though, the colors are neat. The best example of models that would be ideal would be model's in khain's colorful weapon pack.





Essentially want to make a pack of simple, default-like weapons like these with cool sounds, all around uses, and perhaps a limited ammo ability. Would anyone be down to talk about it?
