April 26th, 1986, Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant (CNPP)At approximately 1:30, Reactor four of the CNPP explodes, spreading radioactive waste and debris over a widespread area, thus causing the evacuation of the city Pripyat and local settlements. After the accident, a group of workers known only as, "Liquidators," is hired by the Soviet Union to construct a large metal building around Reactor four, later known as the Sarcophagus.
1989, Chernobyl Disaster ZoneThe
Common-Consciousness Project begins, led by scientists from the Group, an unofficial name for a clandestine research organization formed in the Chernobyl Disaster Zone following the collapse of the Soviet Union.
2001, Chernobyl Disaster ZoneThe Zone begins to attract attention. Rumours about strange phenomena within c.a. 10 km radius of the NPP abound, the city of Pripyat is often mentioned as a hot spot for sightings of unusual phenomena and strange creatures. After a bus full of foreign tourists disappears the authorities seal off the Zone completely.
March 4th, 2006, Chernobyl Disaster ZoneA blinding light illuminates the sky above the CNPP. The incident was reported to have lasted two full hours, before the light disappeared suddenly.
April 12th, 2006The sky is lit by yet another intolerably bright light. The clouds evaporated, followed by the ominous roar of thunder, which lasted considerably long. It was then followed by an ominous silence, then an earth quake measuring a 6.9 on the Richter scale. The light remained the entire time, and dangerously high energy levels ravaged the disaster zone, making any rescue operations impossible. This was to be known as the first psi emission.
June 10th, 2006The second emission occurred, known as the, "Second Disaster," which caused the disaster zone to expand up to five kilometers. Panic stricken residents of nearby villages and science labs were evacuated, military personnel patrolling the disaster zone perished.
August 17th, 2010, Chernobyl Disaster ZoneExpeditions further penetrate the Zone, one locates an abandoned camp of the first "S.T.A.L.K.E.R." They also locate the first artifacts, anomalous formations that have miraculous effects on those that hold them, and observe the emergence of the first emissions, occurrences similar to those that first expanded the zone but on a much smaller scale.
2011, Chernobyl Disaster ZoneWith news of the possibility to survive in the Zone leaked, amateur researchers, marauders and poachers begin to make their way into the zone, soon becoming known as S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s, seeking artifacts in the dangerous environments. At first ignoring them, the government is soon forced to reevaluate their policies, as artifacts make their way into private hands.
October 25th, 2011A skirmish takes place between a military patrol and a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. group. Both sides suffer serious casualties, the army is authorized to shoot stalkers on sight.
2012, Chernobyl Disaster ZoneThe Brain Scorcher is shut down by legendary S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Strelok, also known as the Marked One. With the Brain Scorcher disabled, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s are able to freely access the areas surrounding the dangerous and uncharted center of the Disaster Zone. Upon hearing word, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s from all over the zone rushed for the center, a gold rush for untouched loot and artifacts between all factions inhabiting the zone. Operation Fairway is executed by the Ukrainian Government, resulting in massive failure. Five Mil Mi-24 HIND helicopters, designated Stingray 1-5, all crash due to various reasons unknown to common S.T.A.L.K.E.R.s and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. factions.

Faction Info:
Free StalkersFree Stalkers are a nomadic semi-unified group of Stalkers who simply live off the Zone in order to earn some coin for their daily lives. Loners are neutral toward almost all other factions, but do have complications with the Military, and openly oppose the Bandit faction for their actions against free Stalkers. Most Loners are only concerned with the riches of the Zone, and do not pay attention to the other factions' hatred for each other - provided, of course, they do not threaten them. Because of this, Loners are often recruited by various factions as mercenaries.
DutyDuty was founded by former military expedition survivors and Stalkers concerned about the looming horrors of the Zone. They are one of the largest Stalker clans in the Zone. They have a strict military code and operate in a military fashion, using ranks like Sergeant, Major, Captain, General, etc. Their goal is to contain and destroy the Zone, fearing that it will spread to the outside world. They view the Zone as an ulcer in the world and their efforts are a way to excise it. They do this with blunt force by killing mutants, eliminating all who oppose them or exploit the free, and burning down or drowning mutant dens. They are neutral toward other Zone factions, save for the Bandits and their long-time nemesis: the Freedom faction. It is said that Duty also has deep connections within the military, specifically Spetsnaz detachments within the Zone, although they treat regular grunts with utter contempt.
FreedomFreedom is a collection of anarchists, daredevils, and other Stalkers who believe in the right for free access to the Zone. They are one of the largest Stalker clans in the Zone. Freedom believes that the Zone is a wonder given to all humanity. They are hostile to the ecologists exploiting the Zone for research. They openly oppose the Military, and their long-time rivals, Duty. The only interest of Freedom is to live and open the Zone as a museum for people outside of Chernobyl. Freedom believes that if ecologists leave the Zone from scientific research, the zone will act friendly and peacefully. Members of this faction are stereotypically referred to as stoners and drunks due to their loose policy on drugs and alcohol.
Ukrainian Military
NOT PLAYABLEThe Ukrainian military supposedly has the Zone contained in order to prevent the looting of dangerous, radioactive materials and to prevent the unauthorized entering of any individuals. They allegedly enforce this rule with a "Shoot-on-sight" declaration. In an ironic twist, because of major corruption within their ranks, they themselves are the reason why Stalkers can continue to operate, and why radioactive materials from the Zone keep flowing to the outside world. Overtly, the Military are hostile to all Stalkers, to keep up appearances; but they also make shady dealings with them at the same time. The military has also been known to recruit the help of stalkers for undercover assignments, such as the retrieval of information and military technologies, in use by stalkers.
Monolith
NOT PLAYABLEThe Monolith stalker clan is a xenophobic religious cult, hostile to all but their own. The Monolithians believe in the power of the Wish Granter, rumored to be an alien artifact hidden in the center of the Zone. Members of this faction devote their lives to protecting the secret of the Great Crystal, ensuring that no one ever reaches the center of the Zone. The Monolith faction has no allies, and actively attacks all other factions. It is one of the most well equipped factions in the zone, no one really knows where their weapons, suits or ammunition come from.
Rules and Starting Character Guidelines:
Rules:
-This goes without saying,
no powergaming. This means you cannot dictate another player's character's response to yours or someone else's actions.
-No metagaming. This means no taking information you learned outside of the RP (such as through forum PM, Steam, or other means of private communication) and using it to your character's advantage.
-No bandit characters. OP and moderators if any will RP as bandits to prevent arguments between players and to also prevent metagame. I.e., "I saw you robbing Bob! You die now!"
-No manipulating the environment's conditions to your own benefit. This means no saying, "After coming under attack by the bandit scum, an emission occurs!" Just to get yourself out of a sticky situation. OP and moderators will regulate weather conditions.
Guidelines:
-Don't be that guy.
-Feel free to start your own player based groups. Just make sure that recruitment is done ICly.
-Try to find an interesting reason to give your character to be in the zone, other then the generic, "He wanted money," reason. It adds to the interesting factor of RP.
-Remember that the Chernobyl Disaster Zone is home to mutants, radiation fields, and anomalous formations. Try to include these to the fullest extent. If you do include these, be sure to do your research on both. Information can be found on the
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Wiki. Also inform me if you would prefer me RP the mutants and/or anomalies for you.
-You are not by any means invincible. Please roleplay injuries to the fullest extent and keep in mind that the Disaster Zone is by no means a clean place, and medical equipment is rare and expensive.
-If you're unsure of anything, please contact me via PM or steam. My steam name is blazer232.
Starting Equipment Guidelines:
As a newcomer to the zone, you will often be referred to as a rookie. Being a rookie means you are the most ill equipped stalkers in the zone, and vulnerable to its dangers to the fullest extent. Rookies are commonly seen sporting leather jackets known as anoraks, that come in colors such as tan, red, brown, and most popularly among bandits, black. In addition, they are usually wearing common clothing such as track pants, white tank tops, sneakers or boots, balaclavas, gloves, and backpacks. Rookies usually sport weapons such as Makarov pistols, Makarov PBs, Fort-12s, sawn off double barrel shotguns, TOZ-34 shotguns, and on rare occasions, MP5s or AKs-74us. Among their gear, things such as personal items and foods can be found. Common among zone stalkers is the stalker PDA, which contains a map of the Chernobyl Disaster Zone, a regularly updated list of stalkers listed on StalkerNET according to notoriety, applications for common social media devices, and limited internet accessibility in populated stalker settlements. It also has its own built in camera and a notepad application for note taking and journal writing.
Good luck, stalker. You'll need it.
