Off Topic / Pretty sure 2 of my computer's RAM ports are broken. (update: not broken)

Here's my problem:
I'm using 2 2 gb RAM cards currently. They're in like this:
*_*_ (* = card in, _ = no card in)
Whenever I move them into any other configuration, 1 of 2 things happens:
1: It doesn't recognize one of the cards.
2: It starts up normally, then bluescreens after a few minutes with a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT error.
Yes, all the RAM is compatible. I'm using windows 64-bit, so it should be able to handle more than 4 gigs.
I'm thinking the problem is either the RAM ports themselves or this is relating to my semi-broken 250w psu, which i'm replacing with a 450w psu this week.
Any help is appreciated.
