Here's my problem:

I'm using 2 2 gb RAM cards currently. They're in like this:

*_*_ (* = card in, _ = no card in)

Whenever I move them into any other configuration, 1 of 2 things happens:

1: It doesn't recognize one of the cards.

2: It starts up normally, then bluescreens after a few minutes with a MEMORY_MANAGEMENT error.

Yes, all the RAM is compatible. I'm using windows 64-bit, so it should be able to handle more than 4 gigs.

I'm thinking the problem is either the RAM ports themselves or this is relating to my semi-broken 250w psu, which i'm replacing with a 450w psu this week.

Any help is appreciated.

Off Topic / Anyone know some decent, free video editing software?
« on: July 10, 2012, 06:24:17 AM »
I need something that i can put larger clips into, take portions of the larger clips out, and paste them into a video. I'm making a fragvid-type thing for TF2 (hopefully).

Here's how I think I broke it: I tried installing more RAM without knowing the power supply couldn't handle it, problem was fixed by bumping down to 4 gb of ram (it came with 6)

Here's what's happening: General slowness (blaming it on the RAM reduction)

Random FPS drops in TF2 lasting anywhere from a half second to 5 seconds (makes me think it's my processor maybe.)

I'll be getting a better power supply and graphics card for it soon, could it be anything else?

If you're wondering that this is all about

In Team Fortress 2, there are 2 main types of competitive gameplay: Highlander (HL) and 6v6 (sometimes called 6's.)

Here is how each of these modes work:

Highlander
- 2 teams of 9. Each team has one of each class. They play to do the objective of the map (capture all control points or push the cart/stop the cart.) This mode focuses more on teamwork and strategy than just killing everyone.

6v6:
Teams are made up of 6 players, obviously. There are 2 scouts, 2 soldiers, a demoman, and a Medic. They try to do the map objectives, but this mode focuses more on killing everyone, but there's still a fair amount of teamwork and strategy involved.

Yeah, basically what the title says. Took long enough too.

I had to go down to the DMV with a bunch of forms, then take a 20 question test. I passed, and they took my picture and gave em a temporary permit, my real one with my picture and everything will come on the mail in a few weeks. Yay!

Off Topic / Ordered a new Gaming Computer
« on: December 11, 2011, 10:13:36 AM »
Basically, what ^^^ says. It was $783 including shipping (Which was $75 what the hell). To get the money to buy it, I sold a TF2 Unusual for $300 and begged the rest of parents/relatives in exchange for no xmas/birthday presents (My birthday is December 16th).

Specs:
1 x  Case (NZXT Source 210 Gaming Case - Black))
1 x  Processor (AMD A4-3400 APU (2x 2.70GHz/1MB L2 Cache)))
1 x  Processor Cooling (Certified CPU Fan and Heatsink))
1 x  Memory (4 GB [2 GB X2] DDR3-1600 Memory Module - ** FREE Upgrade to 8GB (4GBx2) DDR3-1600 Corsair XMS3 **))- They were running a sale so I got 8 gigs of ram for the price of 4.
1 x  Video Card (AMD Radeon HD 6750 - 1GB - Single Card))
1 x  Motherboard (MSI A75MA-G55))
1 x  Power Supply (550 Watt -- Standard))
1 x  Primary Hard Drive (500 GB HARD DRIVE -- 16M Cache, 7200 RPM, 6.0Gb/s - Single Drive))
1 x  Optical Drive (24X Dual Format/Double Layer DVD±R/±RW + CD-R/RW Drive - Black))
1 x  Sound Card (3D Premium Surround Sound Onboard))
1 x  Network Card (Onboard LAN Network (Gb or 10/100)))
1 x  Operating System (Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium + Office Starter 2010 (Includes basic versions of Word and Excel) - 64-Bit))
1 x  Warranty (3 Year Standard Warranty Service))
1 x  Rush Service (Rush Service Fee (not shipping fee) - No Rush Service))
1 x  Free Stuff ([Free Game Download] - DiRT3 - Free with Purchase of AMD FX / A-Series Processor))

I'm expecting it to arrive probably sometime in January (ordered a week or so ago).

I don't really care if i maybe got gypped a little bit, it comes pre-assesmbled, the pieces really are only like $600, then Windows 7 was another $100, then shipping was $75.

Post about your computers.

Off Topic / Looking for a decent gaming computer under $500
« on: November 20, 2011, 12:30:44 PM »
Alright, I think OP says it all, I'm  probably gonna have around 500 soon and I want to get myself a nice gaming rig:

What I'd like to get spec-wise:

4+ GB RAM
500 GB+ hard-drive
Graphics card + processor good enough to run TF2 on high

If anyone wants to post a parts list, that'd be cool. Otherwise, just talk about computers.

Off Topic / I thwarted a badly-designed virus.
« on: October 19, 2011, 03:16:11 PM »
So my mom was looking for recipes last night. She says in the morning "Oh my god, all my desktop icons are gone!"

So I say, "Mom, I'll take care of it after school."

I come home and look at it. I notice that all the file folders are blank and the thing won't close itself out. I tried to task manager it, but it wouldn't let me open task manager.

So, I switched to my login to see if I could do task manager, and I could. So, I ended it. Then, I turned my attention to the file folders. First thing I did was check the properties. Oh, look at that, all the folders are set to read-only and hidden. So, what do I do? I unset them.

Then, I found the virus' folder and deleted it. Before I did that though, I set my antivirus to temporarily block all outgoing and ingoing connections. So far, it seems to have worked. Everything's back, the only aftereffect is that every desktop icon except recycle bin got knocked off my desktop. So, wish me luck that it doesn't come back :D

tl;dr If you're too lazy to read this, get the forget out of my topic.
