Off Topic / the tf2 economy just crashed
« on: July 26, 2019, 05:33:57 AM »
it took them 8 days to come to a solution
we need to rescue these poor souls

well boys we did it
tl;dr whoever unboxed 1 unusual can trade it but if they unboxed any more than that then they're trade locked
in a week or so you can funnily enough get a refund for these trade-locked unusuals, and you can even get a refund for the bugged crates and the keys you purchased

update: after 19 hours valve finally took the wool out of their eyes and disabled trading + community market buying/selling for tf2 items temporarily
(and the tf2 twitter has finally made a tweet after 1 year and 4 months)
https://twitter.com/TeamFortress/status/1154830731333390337

ok for now they made the unusual drops from these crates untradable for the time being
https://twitter.com/TeamFortress/status/1154901584108670976

https://www.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/chzmap/pds_warningpsa_dont_trade_for_any_tf2_items_at/

some pretty old crates suddenly 100% guaranteed unusuals (#1-#18, #61, #82, and #85), and a couple of people spotted this bug and started unboxing in the masses, quickselling these unusuals
word spread around and mid-tier unusuals that are on average £50 have suddenly dipped to almost the price of a key (£2), and demand for the bugged crates have soared
the economy got so bad that scrap.tf one of the main trading sites and stn-trading.tf (along with trade.tf) had to disable unusual banking
sell your crates if you want and look through the list of now-cheap unusuals but nobody knows how valve will clean this up

edit: apparently people are saying that they've been trade-banned for buying/selling bugged crates/unusuals but nobody is really certain at this point; trade these items at your own risk
valve will either have to rollback all the item trades or they might just sit back and watch like they did when the untradable gift wrap glitch was about

It's always bugged me when I look at the >1000 player peak on Kalphiter's graph at this time around June 2014. There surely must have been some specific event that day.

So I've been trying to load in one of my saves recently and it had a couple of missing bricks, so I found the add-ons for the rest but not for the 1x1F Pole Corner.. any idea where that one came from?

Code: [Select]
WARNING: loadBricks() - DataBlock not found for brick named "1x1F Pole Corner"

Help / GUI editor crashes whenever I click on one of the main buttons
« on: March 25, 2017, 03:43:41 PM »
So basically, when I click on New Control, and the buttons next to them, Blockland crashes.
I've tried all the modified GUI editors I could find, including Crown's, and the same thing happens.

I don't know if the community realises this, but.. Badspot is burnt out.
He has been CONSTANTLY pushing updates every year or month or two for TEN YEARS.
If I were Badspot, I would try to concentrate on something else. And he is doing that.
But the community, you, needs to chill. You can't pressurise Badspot to make more updates. He isn't a slave. He's only one person.
Take a look at Overwatch, for example. They can meet the expectations of the community because they have a DEVELOPMENT TEAM.
Badspot can't. He's done Blockland all on his own with kompressor for TEN YEARS. You need to realise that we have to give him a rest.
But don't lose hope. If he recovers, he MIGHT just update Blockland again and cross the finish line to take the expectations of the community.
But currently, all you're doing is just complaining and pestering about Badspot that he's grumpy, money-hungry. No. He isn't.
He is an average game developer. Game developers HAVE to make money. It's their business. And if you're saying he's grumpy, that's because he can't rest.
Same in real life. If you can't rest after a race, you feel really grumpy. That's Badspot right now.

So how to solve this? Give him a rest. I can tell how much he can't rest and recover from this comment he made:

Badspot 2017-01-19 10:50:31
What game from 2007 is still getting free updates? Are you writing to the devs of "Kane & Lynch: Dead Men" every day to complain that they're not updating the game for free? How about "Enemy Territory: Quake Wars"? These were $60 games.

Blockland is not a subscription product. There should be no expectation of free content updates at all. Paying me $20 ten years ago does not make me your slave today.

He has actually made extremely good points. But the community perceives it as the, 'usual' Badspot.
It's not usual. It's unusual. He isn't getting any rest or recovery whatsoever, and we need to give him that. That's why he can't update Blockland.
So please, give him motivation and support and recovery + rest, and just let him off. It's like working for a job, and you work every day, even at the weekend. Nobody wants that. But that's the scenario Badspot is in right now. So PLEASE let him off the job, and just let him concentrate on other things for a while. If you be patient, he could make updates for Blockland. I reckon if we start recovering him and giving him rest now, in a few months, or a year, an update for Blockland will come out. But currently, that prediction is only 5 YEARS or 10 YEARS. If we continue the way we are now, he will start driving away from Blockland for a LONG while.

GIVE him a break.
