Nobody had posted this yet and since I originally installed the Stylish browser add-on because of custom Blockland Forums styles and I know people here have used the add-on I figured I should let people know that the extension is now spyware.

https://robertheaton.com/2018/07/02/stylish-browser-extension-steals-your-internet-history/

Quote from: Robert Heaton
Unfortunately, since January 2017, Stylish has been augmented with bonus spyware that records every single website that I and its 2 million other users visit. Stylish sends our complete browsing activity back to its servers, together with a unique identifier. This allows it’s new owner, SimilarWeb, to connect all of an individual’s actions into a single profile.

This is the extension.

Here are some Blockland Forums styles released on Userstyles.org that Stylish uses: https://userstyles.org/styles/browse?search_terms=blockland%20forums

An alternative extension "Stylus".

Add-Ons / Candy Cane & lovey Snowmen Bricks [.blend included]
« on: November 12, 2016, 02:50:07 AM »
Candy Canes

Three flavors of candy cane with a liberal brick grid: one plate at the bottom, another at the end of the hook. Candy Cane B and Candy Cane C (the two on the right) weigh in at around 150 quads so don't go too wild with them.

Features
  • Brick icons.
  • Accurate collision.
  • Minimal coverage due to the shape of the brick, only bottom quads are hidden when covered.
  • Support_Updater versioning.

This is a sample brick for Blender BLB Exporter.

The BLB files were exported using the BLB exporter by doing the following:
  • In the export dialog, using the following properties (deviating from defaults):
    • Bricks to Export: Multiple
    • Brick Names From: Groups
    • Export Bricks In: Scene
    • Coverage: Self Bottom
    • Automatic Quad Sorting

Additionally the Blender file includes the camera, light, and material used for rendering special brick icons that closely match the default Blockland style. Icon is to be rendered without anti-aliasing. Post-processing is required to scale the icon to the correct resolution using bilinear interpolation.

Demian's Snowmen

A regular snowman and two lovey snowmen I made for someone a long time ago but never posted on the forums. But now that Christmas is coming I suppose they have some decorative or indecent uses. Only the red bits in the scarf are colorable. They have about 350 quads each so use sparingly.

Features
  • Brick icons.
  • Reasonably accurate collision.
  • Minimal brick grid.
  • No coverage.
  • Support_Updater versioning.

This is a sample brick for Blender BLB Exporter.

The BLB files were exported using the BLB exporter by doing the following:
  • In the export dialog, using the following properties (deviating from defaults):
    • Bricks to Export: Multiple
    • Bricks Defined By: Layers

Additionally the Blender file includes the camera, light, and material used for rendering special brick icons that closely match the default Blockland style. Icon is to be rendered without anti-aliasing. Post-processing is required to scale the icon to the correct resolution using bilinear interpolation.

To the ~18 people who have downloaded the old Demian's Christmas Bricks: these two add-ons replace that.

Industrial Cage Lights

A 1940's industrial style open cage for a light bulb with wall and ceiling attachment types. 4 plates tall, must be attached from the ceiling (regardless of type, the wall attachment is simply visual), empty 1x1x1 space below the top plate for a light bulb.

Features
  • Brick icon.
  • Accurate collision for the covering cage. In other words, bullets can only pass through the holes in the cage. (Excluding the bottom + shape, that has no collision or raycasting.)
  • Minimal coverage due to the shape of the brick, only top and wall facing quads are hidden when covered.
  • Support_Updater versioning.

Industrial Shielded Cage Lights

A 1940's industrial style cage for a light bulb with wall and ceiling attachment types. 4 plates tall, must be attached from the ceiling (regardless of type, the wall attachment is simply visual), empty 1x1x1 space below the top plate for a light bulb. Has a backing "shield" that does not block light but does block players and bullets. Additionally bricks used as lightbulbs inside the brick will not have a flare when viewed from the outside (unshielded versions of the bricks do have a flare, see below for screenshots) due to the way the collision for the shield is modeled.

Features
  • Brick icon.
  • Accurate collision for the covering cage. In other words, bullets can only pass through the holes in the cage. (Excluding the bottom + shape, that has no collision or raycasting.) Bullets cannot pass through the shielding.
  • Minimal coverage due to the shape of the brick, only top and wall facing quads are hidden when covered.
  • Support_Updater versioning.

Industrial Cage Lightbulbs

Two lightbulbs that fit inside the industrial cage light bricks. One with just the bulb, another with a square base. Downside: when using a glow effect on the lightbulb with the base, the base will also glow.

Features
  • Brick icon.
  • Minimal coverage due to the shape of the brick, only top quads are hidden when covered.
  • Support_Updater versioning.

Additional preview images using all three brick sets.

Bricks at night.
Left: glowing green lightbulb with base (+ standard green light with flare) in caged light.
Right: glowing red baseless lightbulb (+ standard red light with flare) in shielded cage.

Bricks at day. (Different lightbulb colors from above.)

This is a sample brick for Blender BLB Exporter.

The BLB files were exported in two sets using the BLB exporter by doing the following:
  • Selecting layers 1-3 containing the light cages for the first two add-ons.
  • In the export dialog, using the following properties (deviating from defaults):
    • Bricks to Export: Multiple
    • Bricks Names From: Groups
    • Coverage: Self North and Bottom
    • Automatic Quad Sorting
  • After export top coverage was removed from wall bricks and north (east in file) coverage from ceiling bricks by manually editing the BLB files.
  • Same process was repeated to export the lightbulbs but layers 4 and 5 were selected instead and north self coverage was disabled.

Additionally the Blender file includes the camera, light, and material used for rendering special brick icons that closely match the default Blockland style. Icon is to be rendered without anti-aliasing. Post-processing is required to scale the icon to the correct resolution using bilinear interpolation.

A fellow named The Brighter Dark requested that I make this brick some time ago and I figured it could be used for minigames or something so I ended up going all the way. Reference image.

Add-Ons / Clover Monument Brick [.blend included]
« on: November 11, 2016, 06:04:43 AM »
Clover Monument Brick

A random monument I made as an example brick. The transparent bit seen in the preview is colorable, the rest is gray. A 1x1x1 brick may be placed inside the monument, behind the transparent bit. Note that to color the beveled center pane, you must spray the gray parts of the brick as the center pane has no collision or raycasting to make it easier to manipulate the brick inside.

Features
  • Brick icon.
  • Proper brick grid.
  • Accurate collision.
  • Minimal coverage due to the shape of the brick, only bottom quads are hidden when covered.
  • Support_Updater versioning.

The BLB files were exported using the BLB exporter by doing the following:
  • Selecting all objects in layers 1-3.
  • In the export dialog, using the following properties (deviating from defaults):
    • Coverage: Self Bottom
    • Automatic Quad Sorting

Add-Ons / Torii Brick (A Big Ass Japanese Gate) [.blend included]
« on: November 11, 2016, 05:12:17 AM »
Torii Brick

A traditional Japanese gate I made as an example brick. 34 bricks wide and 21 bricks tall. The red part is colorable.

Features
  • Brick icon.
  • Proper brick grid.
  • Accurate collision.
  • Minimal coverage due to the shape of the brick, only bottom quads are hidden when covered.
  • Support_Updater versioning.

The BLB files were exported using the BLB exporter by doing the following:
  • Selecting layers 1-3.
  • In the export dialog, using the following properties (deviating from defaults):
    • Export Only: Layers
    • Coverage: Self Bottom

Additionally the Blender file includes the camera, light, and material used for rendering special brick icons that closely match the default Blockland style. Icon is to be rendered without anti-aliasing. Post-processing is required to scale the icon to the correct resolution using bilinear interpolation.

6
Smooth Sphere Bricks

Perfect sphere (low poly) bricks with smooth shading and spherical DTS collision (same mesh as the visual model). Only 54 quads per sphere.

Features
  • Includes brick icons.
  • Sizes: 2x, 4x, 6x, and 8x wide. Height varies to make sure that the spheres are symmetrical and not elongated.
  • Each side of a sphere touches the brick next to it for a snug fit.
  • The brick grid for the spheres is minimal for maximum fun as seen the preview: bricks may be placed above and below the spheres as well as inside, immediately above and below the bottom and top. I.e. each sphere has a 2x2f plate at the top and bottom.
  • Coverage is minimal, only the top and bottom quads are hidden when covered.
  • Support_Updater versioning.

This is a sample brick for Blender BLB Exporter and Blender DTS Importer/Exporter.

The BLB files were exported using the BLB exporter by doing the following:
  • Selecting layers 1-4.
  • In the export dialog, using the following properties (deviating from defaults):
    • Bricks to Export: Multiple
    • Bricks Defined By: Layers
    • Coverage: Self Top and Bottom
    • Automatic Quad Sorting

Layer 6 contains the collision and raycast collision meshes for the spheres (i.e. 2 each) to be exported using the Blender DTS Exporter. To export them, you need delete all other objects from the scene, only leaving the two objects to export. Default settings are fine.

Additionally the Blender file includes the camera, light, and material used for rendering special brick icons that closely match the default Blockland style. Icon is to be rendered without anti-aliasing. Post-processing is required to scale the icon to the correct resolution using bilinear interpolation.

Modification Help / Blender BLB Exporter [v2.0.0]

Blender BLB Exporter

GitHub · Downloads · Blender

It's been a long time in the making but I've finally reached the point where I'm comfortable with a public release. I present to you: an add-on for Blender 2.67 or newer for exporting Blockland bricks. No need for a command-line program or exporting to .OBJ to create .BLB files. This plugin allows you to harness the power of Blender and export a brick that appears in-game exactly as it did in the viewport. It supports all .BLB file features*, has several convenience features such as exporting multiple bricks in one go or using Blender modifiers, and even fancy things like per-vertex colors. The exporting process is customizable enough that you can easily export bricks that have been modeled for use in another exporter. Importing .BLB files is not yet supported.

See the downloads page for the latest release and installation instructions. See the GitHub page for instructions on how to use the add-on and a full feature list. Hover over the options in the Blender export dialog for descriptions of each option.

If you want to be on the cutting edge of most recent developments or I've gone AWOL for some reason, download the develop branch and install it. See the commits for new features. I can't guarantee it will work as expected though, that branch is called "develop" for a reason.

Please post in this thread if you have any suggestions for features or issues with using the add-on.

Example Bricks with Source Files
Primary features in parentheses.

Basic
  • Candy Cane Bricks (Collision, material colors, multiple brick export using groups)
  • Clover Monument Brick (Brick grid, bricks within bricks, collision, material colors, modifiers, smooth shading)
  • Snowmen Bricks (Collision, material colors, multiple brick export using layers)
  • Torii Brick (Brick grid, collision, material colors)

Advanced

* DTS collision is not yet a part of this exporter. Use Port's Blender DTS Importer/Exporter for now.
Default single brick export properties from v2.0.0.

I felt it was time to expand the old Demians Basic Brickpacks 1, 2, and 3 by adding a few missing bricks and splitting them into more add-ons for better customization. For example you may really need some extra 2x wide plates but might not want the 2x tall bricks that come with Demians Basic Brickpack 2. The additional add-ons also allowed me to sort the contents more logically. (I mean what was I thinking splitting 1x and 2x wide 5x tall bricks into separate add-ons?)

The Endless Brick Scrolling add-on is highly recommended as it should go without saying that 200 extra bricks will clutter your Brick Selector a bit. The add-ons use Support_Updater to deliver any future updates.

Contents

The add-on name tells the common characteristic of the bricks in that add-on: all bricks in the Brick_DemiansBP_2x_Wide are 2 bricks wide, bricks in Brick_DemiansBP_4x_Tall are 4 bricks tall and so on. Each brick in a Wide add-on has a height of 1 plate and 1 brick for each length. Each brick in a Tall add-on has a width of 1 brick and 2 bricks for each length.

In other words: for a 15 stud long brick in Brick_DemiansBP_2x_Wide there are bricks 2x15F and 2x15x1 and in Brick_DemiansBP_4x_Tall there are bricks 1x15x4 and 2x15x4. This logic is applied for all of the add-ons.

Every add-on either fills the gaps or has all new bricks for every brick in the length range 1-5 and even lengths in the range 6-16. In addition to this, every add-on has bricks of the following lengths: 15, 24, 30, and 32.

Exceptions: Brick_DemiansBP_1x and Brick_DemiansBP_5x_Tall fill all gaps in the length range 1-16. Brick_DemiansBP_6x_Wide also has bricks of length 20, 24, and 26.

Naturally all bricks have icons matching the default style:

Upgrading from Demians Basic Brickpacks

The new brick packs contain all bricks that were in the old add-ons. If you're looking to upgrade, you only need to download these new add-ons (and disable the old ones) because the UI and datablock names are the same, the old bricks will load correctly with the new brick packs.

If you previously used this add-on:DemiansBBDemiansBB2DemiansBB3
You will now need to enable these add-ons: DemiansBP_1x for the 1x and 1f tall bricks.
DemiansBP_5x_Tall for the 5x tall bricks.
DemiansBP_2x_Wide for the 1x and 1f tall  2x wide bricks.
DemiansBP_2x_Tall for the 2x tall bricks.
DemiansBP_5x_Tall for the 5x tall 2x wide bricks.
DemiansBP_3x_Wide for the 1x and 1f tall 3x wide bricks.
DemiansBP_3x_Tall for the 3x tall bricks.

Differences Between My and BlackDragonIV's Half Bricks

My half bricks have their own "Half" tab category and are sorted in "1x" and "2x" subcategories, Black Dragon's bricks are in the "1x" tab under the "Half" subcategory. Because of the way Blockland loads add-ons, having mine and his add-ons enabled will cause his bricks to overwrite mine except for the ones that are unique to my packs.

Bricks that only exist in the specified brick pack

  • Demian's Brick Pack 2x Half

Help / Alt+F4 does not work on Windows anymore
« on: February 21, 2016, 04:28:42 AM »
Pressing Alt+F4 (forcibly closes the program in focus for those unaware) was my preferred method of quickly closing the game but it does not seem to work anymore. Using the shortcut prints "Issuing Disconnect packet." to the console but the game just freezes and becomes completely unresponsive.

Brick Wall Prints

You know how tiling 1x2x1 or 1x2f bricks on top of each other in an alternating pattern like this makes for a really neat wall?

Just kidding. Those are 12 1x4x4 print bricks.

I have no idea why this has not been made before. The 1x2x1 print saves a neat 10 bricks and the 1x2f print saves a whopping 28 bricks for a 1x4x4 sized area.

Which ones do you reckon are the prints?

Bottom left and top right.

So what's the catch? Because there always is one.

Print bricks are shiny.

Nothing I can do about that. But the prints are indistinguishable indoors where there is no direct sunlight. About 80 bricks pictured.

Quick dungeon scene: https://i.imgur.com/p4Q9HTv.png

The prints are organized as such from left to right:
  • 1x2x1 Left End
  • 1x2x1 Middle (Tiling)
  • 1x2x1 Right End
  • 1x2x1 Cap (Does not tile)
  • 1x2f Left End
  • 1x2f Middle (Tiling)
  • 1x2f Right End
  • 1x2f Cap (Does not tile)

Looking sharp? The prints are 2048x2048 textures.

But wait, I can almost hear you say "Won't the file size be huge and the load times long?". Nope. That's the magic of PNG optimization. For comparison, the Print_2x2f_Default add-on has seven 512x512 prints at 248 KiB. This add-on has eight 2048x2048 prints at 103 KiB. PNGGauntlet <3

The prints are identical for each add-on, only the name is different.

Some add-on(s) I have enabled on my server randomly crash people who are loading that datablock (when connecting) and considering the number of add-ons I have enabled, trying to figure out what add-on it is would take forever. Does an add-on exist that tells the host (in the console) the name of the datablock being sent to a connecting client? This way I could easily check what datablock caused the client to disconnect.

Add-Ons / Endless Brick Scrolling
« on: February 15, 2016, 02:36:54 PM »
Endless Brick Scrolling

A client add-on that allows you scroll through all available bricks straight from the brick bar by holding down a key and scrolling with your mouse wheel. Additionally the add-on may be configured to only loop within the current brick subcategory or tab but by default, as the name suggests, the looping will go through all bricks in the order they are seen in the brick selector. Naturally the very last brick in the brick selector will loop back to the very first brick in the selector leading to a truly endless loop.

This add-on is a modified version of tommybricksetti's Brick Scrolling which was probably inspired by dUMBELLS's Brick Quick Scroll. Endless Brick Scrolling includes all of the functionality of Brick Scrolling and Brick Quick Scroll.

Developers

Brick Scrolling script by Hata (483) & Chrono (1630). Modified by Demian (10334).

Installation

  • Download the file.
  • Place it in your add-ons folder.
  • Open the options menu and configure the hotkey under: Controls > Building > Endless Brick Scrolling

Upgrading from Brick Scrolling

  • Follow normal installation procedure.
  • Delete or rename Client_BrickScrolling.zip in your add-ons folder.
  • You will be able to use the same hotkey for Endless Brick Scrolling.

Upgrading from Brick Quick Scroll

  • Follow normal installation procedure.
  • Delete or rename Client_BrickScroll.zip in your add-ons folder.
  • In the file config\client\config.cs find the following line:
Code: [Select]
moveMap.bind(<keyboard/mouse0>, "<your hotkey is here>", setBrickScrollActive);
  • Change setBrickScrollActive to ScrollBrickModifier.
  • Save the file and you will now be able to use the same hotkey for Endless Brick Scrolling.

Uninstallation

  • Remove Client_EndlessBrickScrolling.zip from your add-ons folder.
  • In the file config\client\config.cs find the following line:
Code: [Select]
moveMap.bind(<keyboard/mouse0>, "<your hotkey is here>", ScrollBrickModifier);
  • Delete the line and save the file to allow the hotkey to be rebound.

Configuration

By default the add-on is configured to scroll through all available bricks. If you would like to change this functionality modify the following lines in config\client\prefs.cs. Or if you have not yet run the game after installing the add-on, simply add these lines in at the bottom.
Code: [Select]
$Pref::EBS::AcrossSubcategories = 1;
$Pref::EBS::AcrossTabs = 1;

  • Set $Pref::EBS::AcrossSubcategories to 0 to loop within the same brick subcategory as the current brick is in. (This is how both Brick Quick Scroll and Brick Scrolling work.)
  • Set $Pref::EBS::AcrossTabs to 0 to loop within the same brick tab as the current brick is in.
  • Setting $Pref::EBS::AcrossSubcategories to 0 and $Pref::EBS::AcrossTabs to 1 is equal to setting just $Pref::EBS::AcrossSubcategories to 0 as it would make no sense to loop across tabs but not subcategories.

Known Incompatibilities

tommybricksetti's Brick Scrolling
Brick Scrolling functionality is overwritten on purpose as this add-on is meant to be an upgrade for it. Endless Brick Scrolling can be configured to work exactly like Brick Scrolling. (See Configuration above.)

dUMBELLS's Brick Quick Scroll
Both add-ons perform similar functions and probably overwrite parts of each other. This add-on has been crippled by some update months/years ago and it no longer works as intended.

Nexus' Too Many Bricks Inventory
It overwrites default brick inventory things and also performs similar functions.

Is it possible to play item animations/sequences without using the item state system's stateSequence parameter? I'm working on a tool with a looping "idle" animation but when the tool state changes the looping animation is played several times very quickly. (Because every state has the animation set as it's stateSequence.) I figured the problem would be solved by running a function in the "Ready" state that starts playing the animation and then just never stopping it. I know players have the playThread function but that doesn't work on DTS items.

I like doors so I made some doors. Once I get enough suggestions for new doors I might either update an existing add-on or release a new one. All of the doors are frameless because that's my personal preference as it allows for making double doors. I might release framed versions of some doors later on, however that won't happen anytime soon. I've been working on the current (2014-01-26) set of doors for five days straight. I need a break.

Support_Updater support included for updates.

Almost all of the doors have proper coverage but it doesn't work until Badspot fixes it. You can open a door, plant some bricks around it to see the face hiding work, but when you close the door and open it again the coverage doesn't work.

All doors are 4x wide 6x tall brick doors unless otherwise specified.

Old but I might as well re-release it here for the sake of completeness.

Version 2.0.0 - 2014/02/01
Added a modified version of the default jail door that fits the custom pole bricks perfectly. Can also function as a corner door.

Two bricks are required I'm afraid. When doors are loaded, their state is not saved. In other words CCW toggled doors load in closed CW position which looks awful.

Requesting opinions on the height and general usability so I can make the rest of them.

Planned Doors

-- it could be like an enlarged arch door or something like that!
Can you do round window shutters? like for that 4x arch
would you consider doing some sort of airlock door for spacecraft?

Completed Requests
Also, you should make the frameless default jail door line up with the pole bricks. The bars are off center from the stud at the moment.
