Creativity / Vector Political Poster
« on: August 13, 2011, 03:34:06 AM »
Potential wheatpaste poster made by me in Inkscape. In reality I'm non-partisan.

Considering redoing the teeth. The image is still a work in process.

Critiques?

Games / Canabalt

Its a game where you have to run. You only need to press on button, x or c, to jump. Pressing them longer makes you jump farther.

My record is 3877m.

Off Topic / Personas

Want to add a novel twist to your vanity searches? Personas is an art installation that turns a vanity search of your name in a spectrum of keywords associated with it.

The end product, seen in the spectrum screenshot here, is interesting in its own right, but the most interesting part of Personas is watching it work. After you enter your name, you can see it crunching the text selections from the Google search results. If you have a name like Jason Fitzpatrick—both Jason and Fitzpatrick are extremely common names and nearly as common when linked together—your results will be a little muddled. While a good 75% of the quotes that flew by were from me, thanks to the popularity of Lifehacker, the remainder were from my interesting dopplegangers: a diving coach, a metal sculptor, an actor, a prisoner in a federal penitentiary, and a museum curator. As I said, the process itself is quite interesting.

Enter your name, and Personas scours the web for information and attempts to characterize the person - to fit them to a predetermined set of categories that an algorithmic process created from a massive corpus of data. The computational process is visualized with each stage of the brown townysis, finally resulting in the presentation of a seemingly authoritative personal profile.
I/e it basically scours google for the name you inputted, and makes a lovey graph on what it finds.

Faces, Decals, Prints / Darth Maul
« on: August 24, 2009, 12:20:30 AM »

I haven't released a face in a while...

I might update this in the morning, because I think that the shading around the main streaks is a bit too small, but right now I am tired and going to bed.
Download

(maybe this will turn into a starwars pack...who knows ;) )

Updated: Added more shading effect around the streaks, and added a bit more features to the face. (Thanks coocooracha ;D)

Drama / Continuation: Face_Orc
« on: August 11, 2009, 06:23:05 PM »
Original topic can be viewed here.

He obviously copied my decal and stripped it down to stuff to 'make it look blocko'. After I subtly pointed that out and gave a pointer, he thrashes out at me by calling me jealous...

Quote from: blydebadger's locking post
I am locking this topic due to Voids jealousy.. I can tell that you think your the best at creating faces/decals, Void.
What is that? Not at all, I've only made a couple ok decals... I was just pointing out how utterly bad your decal was, and that it was an obvious copy. I also don't understand how this is 'jealously' but whatever.

Tasty Static is a videogame where you go really fast and jump a lot. You'll probably get really annoyed along the way too.

It's really fun, you need to try it. I still haven't found out how to make levels, or maybe I'm just dumb ;P

Gallery / Ironman Face

I'm making an Ironman face and decal. I'm making the face, but for some reason it just doesn't look that good. Any suggestions? :/

Faces, Decals, Prints / Face_Angry Orc
« on: August 06, 2009, 11:55:22 PM »
This orc has been pissed off one to many times!

After hours of tweaking and re-drawing, I finally finished my third face, an angry orc! Yes, it's transparent.

(serious orc means serious business)

Download!

Since one or two people questioned whether or not I had fully made a previous decal or not, which I take a bit of offence to, you can down the Illustrator source file here.

Creativity / Vector Blockhead
« on: August 04, 2009, 08:22:03 PM »
I'm making a vector blockhead thing. I'm going to make it look really cool, but for now, I just need to make all the faces of the blockhead.

The current colors are just placeholders. If anything looks strange, it will be fixed.

Faces, Decals, Prints / Face_Bandages
« on: August 02, 2009, 02:59:47 PM »
Just because you're wounded, doesen't mean you can't fight!

Download!

I think that I am getting better at shading. You can't really see it on the screen shot, but the bandage looks great. My second face, made in illustrator.

Faces, Decals, Prints / Terrorist

With this face, and a boombelt, maybe you'll get into paradise.

Download Yellow Skin
Download Black Skin
Download White Skin

This is my first face, all drawn in Illustrator. I hope that I can make more.

Edit: Image seems a bit choppy at the screenshot angle. The lines really are crisp.
Double Edit: Added more skin variants.

Heh, this is pretty creative, right? ;D

Getting more rubber bands. It's the size of a baseball right now.

General Discussion / The hello thread
« on: July 22, 2009, 11:19:37 PM »
Yes, I thought that an introductory thread was in order.

So I found blockland when I was bored and just clicked on the add thinking that it was going to be just like its 'competition'. I decided to join the fourms to see what the userbase was like. I'm going to buy blockland soon, and am real glad, because I am literally going to get my new computer in a couple of days that can run it.

Not many 'hello' threads actually say what the person likes (well not the two I've seen), and are really vague, so maybe I can change that up a bit. I like games, programming (not the best, but hey), constructing things, and knifes. I find drawing little doodles relaxing, and would like to try other forms of graphic design maybe at a later date.

Anyways, thats about it. Can't wait to get Blockland.
