Beam.ng drive is a soft-body realistic car simulator of sorts, where you can crash cars into other cars and stuff with realistic environments and tons of customizations. It's still in development, but it can be purchased in its current state for people to forget around with. As it sits, there's not much default content in the came, roughly five or so vehicles to play with on five or so maps. However there is a modding community found on their website and it keeps people entertained until the full game is released.

Currently it cannot be purchased on Steam, but it is redeemed through Steam. It costs $20 as it sits right now. There is a demo.

The website is here. For more information, it's best to simply look it up on YouTube.

Why do people insist on trying to blow up New York? I know it's ugly but damn.

Off Topic / Christmas money spending time!
« on: December 31, 2013, 05:57:40 PM »
I have $160 to spend on Christmas stuff instead of getting gifts from my parents. I have no idea what to buy.

Keep in mind:

1) I love toys and pointless things that can sit on a shelf and look cool
2) I love music
3) The stereo in my Malibu sucks dongs
4) I am a college student

So any fun ideas?

Off Topic / Windows 8 issues "focusing"
« on: December 30, 2013, 09:45:34 PM »
So beginning today I noticed that Windows has been giving me some grief, namely the fact that randomly, several times a minute, the active window will go inactive for about a second or two, and then randomly come back into focus. It's as if I have selected another window, but then the computer is like, oh stuff, he wasn't done, better go back.

It's immensely annoying and I can't find solution via Google. I can't play any games fullscreen because it keeps minimizing them and then makes that little windows noise when a program doesn't understand the keybind you're trying to use. I'm having a hell of a loving time even typing this.

I've downloaded Malwarebytes and scanned and it found three registry errors, and Norton only found tracking cookies. Any other suggestions?

Im just curious.

If you saw someone you know in a research, would you confront them and shame yourself because you watch it, or just keep a secret?

Off Topic / Question of faults.
« on: September 03, 2013, 12:11:32 AM »
so we had a situation at work the other day. One of our technicians was asked to move a minivan behind the shop so we could move a different vehicle. The hood on the minivan is left up, usually indicating they would need additional parts or labor or something. When the first technician goes out to move the vehicle, the hood is put down, but is not shut. If you looked at the front of the minivan, it would be pretty clear that it was open. along comes a second technician, and he moves the minivan into the shop. an alignment is then performed on the minivan. However, the second technician does not notice that the hood was left open. the minivan is then taken out on the highway to double check the alignment. During the test drive, the hood flies open, falling backwards and shattering the windshield and then denting the hood.

I'm not really sure who would be to blame in this situation. I just think it's an interesting one. Who do you think has more of the blame here?

Forum Games / Highler Ridge :: Rebirth
« on: May 29, 2013, 12:51:06 AM »

Hello, fellow Blockland users. My name is Caution, and I'm here to give some life back into Community Projects by reviving a previously somewhat successful roleplay of mine, known as Highler Ridge. The original roleplay had developed quite a crowd of users of different kinds, all coming together to create a fun and interesting storyline involving characters of many different kinds.

But enough about the past. I hope to see this roleplay get some life back, and I'm all for progress. Let's look forward to the future.

ABOUT Highler Ridge is a city that has an ongoing problem with crime - drug trafficking, warfare, police corruption, and flashing. There's no real form of enforcement in the city, due to large percentages of minorities and cultural disagreements. When will there finally be peace in the city? Will there ever be?

You're here to determine the fate of this situation. Will you be a drug lord, establishing your own territory among countless others, setting up hits and organizing shipments, taking down whoever gets in your way? Or will you be a junkie on the bottom of the food chain, doing whatever he can to get his next high? On second thought, there's always the flipside - start proving to the citizens there's still some good in the force. Bring back order and peace into the residents' lives. Track down criminals, establish a team of people that can do what needs to be done in the face of justice. Will you lose some men or prevail?

GENERAL So everyone has a history, right? Are you working for the Italian mafia, for a huge family of drug lords, being a slave to the money when the boss calls? Or will you play it solo? Establish a name for yourself as you go, cooking up your own drugs and combinations. Jerryrig some cool weapons and sell them out the back of your Prius, because no cop is going to expect someone to set up shop out of a hybrid. Maybe you're a typical immigrant fresh off the boat looking for work wherever you can. Or perhaps you're a runaway, living on your stolen earnings since you were motherloving thirteen years old.

Okay, so my main goal here is to inspire you to be creative in thinking up a backstory for your character. No one said it had to be original - be a Pegorino from GTA IV or be Niko, be Walter White or Jesse from Breaking Bad, or just be some kid who thought he was selling oregano but it turned out to be some weed. Make people interested in who you are.

THE CITY The city is large - it is a metropolis, after all - and divided amongst a small series of five islands all interconnected by ferry terminals, bridges, or the jet-ski rental company.

:: Bright Annex, the part of town you should probably stay in if you're new around here. A lot of suburban homes are here, and the building height is kept around three or four stories. The work is easy here, steal a few cars or pick up a package, and the cops are too busy in the other parts of the city. The people are mild and the bosses are as well, an ideal place to begin.

:: Woodland is a bit of a mystery, especially its name - there's not really much for trees here. It's a smaller island, and is pretty similar to the Bright Annex area, but with more cops and more jobs. The Greenwald International Airport is here as well, being the largest and busiest airport in the north. Airport security doesn't take any stuff from anyone, and there's no corruption - it wouldn't be wise to get funny.

:: Edina; you don't know much at all about this area, but it's supposedly the fancy part of the city, full of nice houses, skyscrapers and sports cars. You've talked about going over there with your cousin once, but he seems afraid of the area - perhaps its the mafia bosses and other people of such status that look like they'll shoot you on the spot if they see you. Maybe once you have some experience.

:: Goodyear is pretty much the business area of the city, filled to the max of skyscrapers and taxis. With so many people here, it can be good for you and your wallet, but the population can kill you in a second as well, especially when the police are around. Be alarmed!

:: Daltine is the industrial. Whenever you steal a car, this is probably where you should take it to either sell it for a quick buck or deliver it to one of the hundreds of garages. A shootout here would be a catastrophe, with all of the flammables and opportunities to blow stuff up. Several city buildings are located here, such as the city dump, recycling center, the dump. Some offices are located here as well, such as Bernard's Taxi services and the city buses. There's not much to see here.

CHARACTERS Finally, the exciting stuff. This can be a fun part if you put effort into it. Your character is your baseline for your story and will ultimately be the deciding factor of how the game goes for you.

1 :: Start out with a bio. Who are you? Write a brief summary of a few sentences; general characteristics, where you came from, status of your parents, whatever you want. Just tell us who you are. We don't know you, so let us in!

2 :: A physical description would be nice. Either post a nice picture of who you are - make it look like you in real life, or Google a random picture of a lovey man and claim to be him. Or, if you'd rather, give us a text rundown. Eye color, hair color, clothing style, the works. We've never seen you before, so how would we look at you? Are you a streetie or a thug? Business professional or a mime? Who knows? I sure don't.

3 :] IMPORTANT :: You will need to keep this menu at the top of every RP post you make here in Highler Ridge. Consider it your status update; it'll explain what you're doing in basics for people too lazy to read (though realistically they probably shouldn't be in a roleplay anyway). On to the template;

NAME | What's your name?
LOCA | Where you at, dawg?
ACTN | What are you doing? Robbing a place? Stealing a car?
INVT | What's in your pockets? Include cash and weapons.
OBJV | What's your objective? Goal in your post?

Other than that, feel free to explain your character in as much detail as you want in your first post, or whatever post you'd like. Hopefully you keep coming back so we get to know you well enough.

RULES They're pretty straight forward; I mean, it's a pretty simple roleplay. Obviously compliance with forum rules is a must - no one really wants to read in detail about love with your prostitute. No overly gross love scenes, don't make a stupid character who says forget every other word, and I wish it could go unsaid, but no god-modding. You didn't start out with a four million dollar estate you inherited from Uncle Jerry. Be realistic. That's the most important in my opinion. I want realism, and I want to have fun, so make it fun!

If you have any questions, feel free to speak up. Enjoy!

Off Topic / Caution's ride. [lotsa biggish pictures]
« on: May 15, 2013, 09:36:01 PM »
As of late, I've been working on my car a lot to make it look cooler than any other stuffTY CAR IN THE WHOLE WORLD.

I've worked a lot on the rust (still some to address), blacked out the tail-lights (which I soon after learned is illegal), bought some rims and tires for it (second set, long story), and had a custom sticker made for the back windshield. All this among various little things done in the shop from time to time.

Also this car is worth like nothing anymore. Trade in value is under a grand and the resale is below like $2300. I bought it for a total of like $3800 less than a year ago. So. Go me.

I figured along with bragging and showing off, you guys could add in your rides too!

Future projects I wanted to do is possibly hardwire in some LEDs to the front, possibly toggleable. And to fix more rust. That's pretty much it.

So...

Yeah.

I have a 2001 Olds Intrigue. Stock rims are 16s, these are 17s but they're both five nut rims. I guess I was just wondering if anybody knows if these would fit on my car.

Off Topic / AP classes.
« on: March 12, 2012, 04:23:34 PM »
So registration time has come around again and our schedules are due tomorrow, but I've been exploring online and apparently we offer an AP English class that we can take instead of World Literature. I'm seriously considering taking it - you get college credit and it takes the place of World Lit. It says on the description that we'd get a summer reading list and it's also a year long class, but I could probably get rid of a few electives anyway. I'm considering also taking AP American Government for no real reason, I don't plan to be a lawyer or whatever. I think it's finally time to challenge myself, I'll actually try something besides just getting by. I just don't know if I should take it or not. My schedule so far has:

Natural resources A and B, drawing/painting, maybe digital art, maybe AP AmerGov, literature of diversity, either World Lit or AP English, international foods, interior design, algebra IIC, physics A and B, and then for alternates I have Know Your Car, digital photo/airbrush, structures/systems, and sociology.

If you take the AP test in May and pass it, you get college credit...

Hmmm... opinions?

Off Topic / Some girl issues.
« on: February 17, 2012, 12:41:32 PM »
I've kinda had this thing with a girl we'll call A. We started talking after we hung out together one night with a bunch of other people. We were in the same class, so simple talking was kind of inevitable. I've always thought she was really cute but eventually our friendship got to the point where I felt I had to admit it... and the weird thing is she admitted she likes me too. It was kind of a problem, since she had a boyfriend, who was one of the people we hung out with that night.

She never seemed happy with him, and from my point of view, if he was worth it, her and I would have never had anything like we do. She never seemed to just be satisfied with the relationship, she herself said it wasn't healthy, and everybody I've talked to about it says pretty much the same thing. Something just isn't working. But he was her first boyfriend she ever had, and it lasted for a year and change. She really loved him.

Thing is, she just broke up with him last night. It was bound to happen, I guess, but now she feels like she really regrets it... she feels like she made a mistake and I don't know what I can do to make her feel like what she did was a good thing. She texted me after we hung out with others and said some things like she was miserable without him and I'm just not him, etc etc. It's the truth, I guess, but I don't know how to convince her of otherwise... I don't know what to do, whether to give her space or what...

I've never felt the way I do about A with any other girl. She means a lot to me in every way you can imagine. I've never had a girlfriend or anything like this with a girl, I guess I could just use some guidance...

Also I think it's worth noting that her boyfriend knew what was going on the whole time... she told him all we did (and even caught me dropping her off at her house one night). She's just a great girl, I just don't know how to convince her she is and she deserves better than what she had.

Serious responses would be appreciated...
