Off Topic / Gentlemen, Post Your Firearms
« on: May 30, 2013, 02:32:38 PM »
Hi, it's been a long time since I've posted here. I was a dumbass kid when I posted last so I'm sorry if I offended any sensibilities.

Anywho onto the matter at hand, I'm curious if any of you pale-skinned city boys have any shooty-bangingtons.

I have two, a modest collection sure but they're both entirely mine. They aren't my daddy's, they aren't the guns I borrowed from my uncle's buddy, they are mine.

After my dad died we found this among his things. It's probably the most basic gun that's ever existed. It's a pretty straight shooter despite the fact that it's a single-shot gun. I like that it will cycle both .22 short and long; I suspect that it would shoot .22 magnum but I don't want to blow it up so I probably won't try.

This is my baby, bought it as soon as I turned 18. It's a Marlin 336W 30-30 with a Bushnell scope. I feel like a cowboy :3

With that code in the url bar of any website it can be more likely than you think.

Off Topic / Intel vs. AMD (School Report involved)
« on: April 04, 2011, 07:04:36 PM »
I have chosen the most dry, boring, utterly meaningless topic ever to write a compare-contrast essay for my handicap class, comparing AMD processors to their Intel counterparts.
So I need feedback from people who have had both and prefer one, or had one and liked/hated it.

Start posting brahs.

Off Topic / Man Arrested for Having Back Turned on Hillary Clinton
« on: February 21, 2011, 08:32:13 PM »
I saw this on FP and thought I would share it with you all, kind of disturbing really.

Quote from: FP thread, which shamelessly copypastad from a newspaper website
(NATIONAL) -- Could it be the U.S. government thinks peaceful, civilian protest against government is fine on the streets of Cairo, Egypt but not on U.S. soil?

As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave a speech at George Washington University yesterday condemning governments that arrest protestors and do not allow free expression - and lauding freedom of speech on the Internet - 71-year-old military veteran Ray McGovern was grabbed from the audience in plain view of her by police and an unidentified official in plain clothes and hustled out of the building and, according to McGovern and his supporters, was “brutalized and left bleeding in jail.”

What McGovern did was simply remain standing silently in the audience and turned his back on her as Secretary Clinton began her speech.

That was it.

McGovern, a veteran Army officer who also worked as a C.I.A. brown townyst for 27 years, was wearing Veterans for Peace t-shirt.

Blind-sided by security officers who pounced upon him, McGovern remarked, as he was hauled out the door, "So this is America?"

According to Mara Verheyden-Hilliard, attorney with the Partnership for Civil Justice Fund, “For this peaceful expression of dissent, he ended up bruised, bloodied, arrested, and jailed. Secretary Clinton never paused, continuing her speech lecturing other countries about the need to allow freedom of expression and dissent, while Mr. McGovern was hauled out in front of her.”

McGovern was later found to have his arm covered with bruises. The metal handcuffs were fastened so tightly that his wrists were cut and some blood flowed from the cuts.

After being held by local police, McGovern was told he was being charged with disorderly conduct.

Watch the incident in the video below.

I ran it to see if I could run Total War: Shogun 2 and it put me right between minimum and recommended, the only point of failure for recommended being my processor, reading shogun's requirements tells me that it recommends  an Intel i5 or greater with nothing about the speed, I have an i7 at 3 ghz, what the what.

I'm trying to download some autodesk software and it needs that loving stupid Akamai downloader, when I download the akamai installer it apparently installs, but it doesn't do anything else, anything associated with akamai isn't even in my process list. also the direct links don't download, firefox just won't go past "starting"

I thought I would share this little item I made over the weekend with all of you guys, it's a wee crossbow made out of skewers, hemp twine, and 4 tons of hot glue.

Now that it fires reliably I'm trying to make a way to modify it to launch little grappling hooks.

Off Topic / My teacher being an starfish.
« on: January 28, 2011, 07:13:54 PM »
So in my 4th block principles of engineering class we're doing these small labs with robotic stuffs for a larger project where we will make a device to sort items with the robotic stuff, so my teacher tells us today that the groups that are behind on the labs need to pick up the pace, sounds reasonable so I continue on with my stuff, before I know it he's talking about splitting our groups up so that the people who are doing good can pull the groups that suck ass.

We all get pissed off and he says that we don't have a vote because we're students and he's a teacher, think about this for a minute, he straight up said to us that the people who are doing well will be doing all the work for the groups that don't want to do anything.

What the forget man, isn't this why communism doesn't work?
