Off Topic / how do I make mouse buttons do things??

well, I guess it's not totally buttons but still
my mouse's scroll wheel can also click, like, side-to-side. like if you move it to the left or right, it presses a button
I'm pretty sure this is supposed to be used for horizontal scrolling, but for some reason, left is scroll down and right is scroll up, just like rolling it normally does
but that's not what I want it to do. really, I don't even want it to scroll horizontally. I just want it to control back and forward, like, as in the browser functions

but idk how to change it!! I checked mouse options in the control panel, but the "buttons" tab for that only has settings for my trackpad's buttons. help me pls

me and a friend wanna do something and it requires a multiplayer competitive flash game
either fast- or slow-paced
if it's fast-paced then there aren't really any other requirements
but if it's slow-paced, it has to have "little victories" of some kind during the match, that you could define. like, if you lose the little victory, take a shot. except me and my friend won't be taking shots
and if it's slow-paced, it needs to be only 1v1. but if it's fast-paced, it doesn't matter a whole lot, but 1v1 would probably still be preferable

numbers look a lot different too


and it affects a lot of things. every internet browser and windows explorer especially (the first image was in firefox, and the second was in chrome). but it doesn't affect steam for some reason, or notepad++

I think it started after I played a game in windows XP compatibility mode. but if that couldn't have caused it then idk
does anyone know what's up? and how to fix it?

yeahhh idk. my mom visited a week ago and she says it's a cool place. I've never been there before though
but I guess I'm excited. a new place to live is always interesting, and this is the first time that's happening, where it isn't just a new house in the same boring little city

we already have an apartment waiting, so we know what our address is gonna be and everything. Bank of America apparently isn't in louisville so we're gonna have to use another bank instead. we're still going to keep our current house, too, so we won't have to move anything except what we need, especially good that we're not gonna have to move the tons of boxes in our basement. plus, that way we'll still have a place to stay whenever we come back to visit family or anything
eventually my mom and her boyfriend will come back here to stay, but I'll have moved out by then anyway, and probably my sister too

I suppose it's kinda good that I'll have to get used to a new city, and being away from "home," since in a couple of years I'll be moving even further from alabama
my mom's boyfriend and I are moving on the thirteenth of june, but I have no idea when my mom and sister are. I'm glad I'll be away from them for a while, though

anyway, uh, if anyone's been there before, or even better, if anyone lives there, let me know what you think of it!

edit: also, maybe I'll have good, or at least decent, internet there! the apartments being so close to a moderately big city gives me hope. idk what providers are in louisville though, maybe I oughta find out

I just wanna talk about when gwen stacy died. that was rough. I sat there for like five minutes with my mouth hanging open. gwen frickin stacy. she was so much better than mary jane but now???? goodbye forever. rip
that kinda stuff gets to me. like. one day you could just, hit your head a little too hard. and you're gone. jesus christ

it's great. the singleplayer has like, one of the coolest features I've ever seen in a game. you can control time it's so fun. even the multiplayer retains some time-controlling abilities, in the form of grenades that explode on contact into spheres of... energy, or something, and whenever someone walks or falls or jumps or whatever into them (including yourself and enemies and teammates), it has the effect on them and any projectiles too
in singleplayer (video), your suit lets you slow down time, stop it, or rewind it
and in multiplayer, you have the same powers, but a couple of them work differently. slow time does the same thing as in singleplayer, but stop time just slows it down a lot more, but there is still some movement. and rewind doesn't rewind everything in it in the way you might expect. rather, if you jump into it, you'll go in some amount, and then it'll start to rewind you, pushing you back out the way you came in. it does the same thing with projectiles, so if you shoot into it, it's possible that your bullets will hit you
both are very fun

it has a really cheesy story though, so if that matters more to you than like the coolest gameplay ever don't buy it

so every once in a while this thing pops up



that thing in the middle. I have no idea what I do to trigger it. like, seriously, no idea. I don't even know if it's the trackpad or the keyboard or what
the program was there when I got the laptop from my mom's boyfriend
all of the little icons there are shortcuts, except the close and minimize buttons. the majority of them don't point to actual locations anymore, even most of the ones that still have the proper icons

and idk what it is. I've looked through all the lists of programs I can think of but nothing seems to be it

I've been using 000webhost's free hosting, just for messing around, but now I want to get something better
000webhost claims that its paid hosting is $4.84 a month, but trying to order that just takes you to the hosting24 site, where they charge $7.80 a month
so I'm guessing the price on 000webhost is assuming you buy one of the discounted lengths on hosting24
anyway, it made me think that I might wanna consider a different service, anyway

so I just want something that is acceptable, lets me do whatever I want (not as important, and rules about illegal stuff are ok of course), and is no more than $10 a month

and idk why exactly, but ephialtes doesn't want to give it away now
so someone should make a replacement!

if you don't remember what it was, or didn't know, you would upload a .blb and it would provide you with a list of all the brick addons used in it
I'm not sure exactly how it worked. but I'm certain could figure out a way to do it? I hope, anyway

General Discussion / What's this thing sometimes added to the URL?

every once in a while, the forum gets this 404 error, and some extra characters are added in

so it's like

but I don't add it myself or anything, it just appears there
and if I refresh the page it just gives me more 404 errors until I delete the added part from the URL

soo, what's up with that? it's just started happening this morning

Games / Crysis 3 is better than Crysis 2

I'm just gonna copy and paste what I said to someone else so I don't gotta type all of it again

well, the biggest problem with crysis 2 was not really anything
until the aliens came in
and then it was boring and frustrating
because, when I was just fighting the CELL people, who are humans, I can be sneaky. which is what I love doing, just like in skyrim and oblivion and fallout, sneaking around is the thing I do
I guess I should say TES and fallout
anyway, the thing about the aliens is that they're big, and armored, and all that good stuff
in crysis 2, the best option for sneak attacks was silenced weapons
and that works perfectly fine against the humans, but the aliens, nooo sir. so the only real option at that point is walking up right behind them and stabbing them. but they're just so big and unpredictable, that's much too risky
so I had to resort to boring normal tactics
eventually I got too bored, so I quit. I never even finished the game
and the multiplayer was really bad
but I can't say anything about the crysis 3 multiplayer
anyway in crysis 3, they gave you this new weapon, the compound bow. to begin with, I mostly thought it was just a dumb gimmick, so I kept using silenced firearms to kill people for most of the game
but a while after I started fighting the aliens, I realized, the bow is actually an incredible weapon. it's totally silent, doesn't make you uncloak, and has four different types of arrows for different purposes, as well as three different settings for the draw strength or whatever
however it is a bit overpowered. because on the strongest draw setting, it does take a second to pull it all the way back, but it kills alien infantry in one shot. not their bigger troops, but still
and also, for the regular arrows, you can retrieve them from the bodies, so it basically has infinite ammo, plus the arrow crates that show up occasionally
it also has explosive arrows, electric arrows, and explosive arrows
one of the explosive types sticks to whatever it hits and explodes after a few seconds, and the other will explode in proximity to a target, so you just have to shoot nearby the person. it's great for getting people hiding in cover. but if it reaches a wall or something first, it'll just explode as soon as it hits
the first one has a bigger explosion too, I think. a stronger one, at least
it still feels sorta, like, cheap, though
idk how to describe that really
it's the same quality that timeshift has, and gears of war
I really like timeshift, and crysis 3 was okay too, so I'm not saying it's a bad thing
it's just there

but I don't have anything to say about the plot. it's just a dumb and cheesy thing to ignore while you have fun killing things
