Modification Help / Advanced 3D Game Programming All in One
« on: June 25, 2009, 07:09:50 PM »
I recently read Advanced 3D Game Programming All in One. it is a good book for learning the torque game engine (I brought for around ~$25 used). It covered many subjects (including sound!), but unknown to me when i brought it, every thing is in reference to the torque game engine (which was bad for me). It is about ~600 and something pages and you can get it at amazon.

I never realized how good of a source they were for creating games, even if not for pc/xbox360 (psp in my case). I learned a lot about a collision detection, height mapping, and shadows from them. Great resource for any game makers out there.

2.) I went to a sever and I downloaded these files with a [1] after it and no one else did.

Blockland Portable Alpha 1 is now out for PSP and is coded in lua (no vid though, can't find camera/remotejoy not working).
I could not finish the menu in time, I have all the vars ready though.

Controls:
D pad: move brick
brown townog stick: move yourself
Cross: place brick
Triangle: Switch view
Square: block menu
Circle: jump
L trigger: move brick down 1 level
R trigger: move brick up 1 level
start: undo last brick

Currently I have moving the bricks set to super shift.

you can add colors in data/brickcolors.lua

To do:
MENU!!!!!!!!
bottom collision
better checking system for over lapping bricks.
move bricks based on your rotation (I had it working today but I broke it some how)
make a full skybox (It dropped frame rate 20%, will work on it)
360 degree camera

I do not know the next time I will update, I have band camp for 21 weeks and a cruise the week after that.

Feel free to work on this while I'm gone guys.
