Help / Shaders Cause Black Lines
« on: October 12, 2012, 05:49:15 PM »
Whenever I set my shader quality greater than "minimum", strange black lines appear on bricks and the ground. (See the screenshot below.) The more I increase the shader quality, the finer these black lines get.

I am running Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion), and my GPU is a Radeon HD 6870.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be?

(By the way, I do not have this problem when I run Blockland on Windows on this same computer.)

Modification Help / Spawning Lights on Vehicles
« on: April 18, 2012, 12:10:53 AM »
Is it possible to set a light on a vehicle such that the light moves when the vehicle moves (just like a player light)? If not, is it possible to create a light in mid-air and continually update its position to be the same as that of the vehicle?

Modification Help / Tampering with Vehicle Speed
« on: April 11, 2012, 11:28:45 PM »
Is there a way that I can adjust the speed of vehicles without messing with their datablocks? I want to be able to change their speeds based on a couple variables. I tried redefining WheeledVehicle::setVelocity, but I found out that that function is not called when a player is driving a vehicle. What function is called when a player drives a vehicle?

General Discussion / v20m?
« on: April 09, 2012, 05:08:27 PM »
I just opened Blockland, and the launcher ran an upgrade. When it finished, Blockland said v20m instead of v20 in the upper lefthand corner. Does anyone know what v20m is? I can't find anything about it in the Development board.

Does anyone know if there are any print bricks larger than the default 1x4x4? I couldn't find any here or in the RTB Mod Manager.

General Discussion / Mint's City RPG

Mint's City

It all starts here. You spawn outside the bank, read the rules, and start playing.Most players choose to become laborers as their first job. They have a great view of the beach as they chop trees for money.

As a second step, many players choose to become a policeman. The job has good pay, and it gives you a sense of power.As you do your job, you will earn experience and a larger paycheck. Once you have saved up enough money, you can buy yourself a home in the residential zone.

As you advance your career, you will be able to afford motorized vehicles and enjoy the view while you cruise down the highway.If you manage your money wisely, you will be able to buy larger and larger houses in the residential zone until everybody salutes you on the commute to work.

I am trying to define the functions for a ScriptObject in multiple files. Take, for instance, the following three files.

Quote from: server.cs
new ScriptObject(MyObject);
exec("./log.cs");
exec("./example.cs");
Quote from: log.cs
function MyObject::log(%m) {
    echo("Logged Message:" SPC %m);
}
Quote from: example.cs
function MyObject::exampleFunction() {
    %this.log("The example function was called.");
}

If I run MyObject.exampleFunction(); in the console, I get the error: Add-Ons/Script_MyScriptName/example.cs (0): Unable to find object: '' attempting to call function 'log'

Is this just impossible? Should I just use a different ScriptObject in each TorqueScript file?

Gallery / iEvent Clan Application
« on: October 13, 2011, 08:09:58 PM »
Hello. My name is Mint. In about June of 2010, I attended BlockoWorld for the first time. I thought it was amazing, and then I looked up at the wall and saw iEvent in big neon letters. Ever since then, I have been very enamored by this clan, and I have finally decided that I would like to apply for a position in the iEvent construction team. This application is a build I made that is meant to be a brick townhouse-style bookstore--one which you might find in a city like San Francisco. Here it is:

In-Game Name: Mint
BL_ID: 13791
Applying for Team: Construction
Brick Count: 5,182

General Discussion / Mint Trail Rating (Beta)
« on: October 01, 2011, 05:31:10 PM »
Hi, everyone. I'm working on a trail rating system that determines how good various Blockland vehicles are for off-roading. I do so by collecting data on how far they are able to go on a steep hill with rough terrain, approach angle, breakover angle, departure angle, turning radius, and horsepower. After I have collected the data, I average out the scores in the different areas, weighing some more heavily than others, and come up with a final percentage. Using that percentage, I assign each vehicle to a class, 1 being the best and 5 being the worst. Below are the 9 vehicles I have rated so far. Please let me know what you think about this rating system, and give me requests for vehicles to rate.

Class 1:
Stunt Buggy (Kaje, v1): 87%
Tank (Badspot): 85%
Jeep (Badspot): 84%

Class 2:
SUV Off-Road (Phydeoux, v2): 73%
Mongoose (Azerath, v3): 67%
Pickup Truck Off-Road (Phydeoux, v2): 63%

Class 3:
SUV (Phydeoux, v2): 54%
Blockstang 2010 (Pandan, v2): 53%
Harley Davidson (Nuclear Reaction, v1): 52%

Class 4:

Class 5:

Off Topic / Rude People on Servers
« on: May 08, 2011, 05:07:06 PM »
Do you guys find that when you host servers, a lot of rude people join? This has happened to me a lot, and I just wanted to know if it happens to other people. This is a conversation that I had over IRC with someone who joined my server today. He got really mad when I told him that I didn't need any help with my server. I have changed his name to Player, because I'm not trying to complain about a single person.

Player: your fking serv sucks whuts your i d
Mint: Why do you want my id?
Player: caus its probly 20000000
Mint: It's 13791.
Player: ...shuuuuur
Mint: You can look it up on the RTB ID Lookup page.
Mint: Why do you not believe me?
Player: well it sucks
Player: just a little info for ya
Mint: I'm sorry if you do not like it. It is the first trench TDM I have ever hosted, so it might not be good.
Player: oh thats why ...im sorreh but i offerd help and trench WERE my speshalty
Mint: I'm really sorry if you were offended. I wanted to make it all by myself. I hope you didn't take it the wrong way.
Player: ......the point is it needs help and evryone ther are ike 5 ..witch is why ter there

I have attached a screenshot of the conversation with the name censored out. Once again, please tell me if this happens to you much. It has happened to me quite a few times.

I am looking for someone to host the clan server. If you are able to host a 24/7 dedicated server, please comment below.

The Institute of Building and Design

If you want more information about the clan than what is listed below, please PM me (TheRealMint).

IBD was inspired by the AoB Clan and its amazing builders. We hope that we will eventually become allies instead of enemies of AoB. We are centered around sharing building techniques in the Research Forums and hosting Building Week, as explained below. By becoming a member, you can get lots of tips from other members, an office in the headquarters (still under construction), and your very own @ibdclan.co.cc e-mail address.

Building Week is an event hosted every year by IBD that was inspired by iEvent's BlockoWorld, which was amazing when I attended it last year. It targets three types of players:
  • Clans - Building Week is a place where clans can find new members. Clans can reserve area to build a booth that potential applicants can visit. They can also wander around, look for really good builds, and try to recruit the builders.
  • Clan Applicants - If you are looking to join a clan, you can look around at the clan booths for an interesting clan. You may also make a building outside, and if it's really good, a clan might recruit you.
  • Builders - Looking to become a better builder? At Building Week, you can make a building outside, and IBD members can give you tips on how to be better. There will also be displays of different building styles, both by IBD members and guest builders.
At the very end of building week, IBD members will vote on their favorite builds. At the end, the top 2-6 builds will be shown off in a tour.

We hope that many people will come to Building Week. The dates of Building Week 2011 are still to be decided.

The Research Forums are a place where IBD members can post about their building, eventing, and scripting techniques to help other Blockland players improve their building strategies.

IBD is split up into three departments:
  • Building - Members in the Building department are expected to build a lot and encouraged to post about their techniques in the Research Forums.
  • Eventing - Members in the Eventing department are expected to event a lot and also encouraged to post eventing strategies/techniques in the Research Forums..
  • Administration - The Administration department is a secondary department. Members who have shown exceptional ability may be able to take part in administration. One cannot apply to Administration.

Thinking about applying to IBD? If so, this is all the information you need. If you have any questions, please e-mail admissions@ibdclan.co.cc.

For whom is IBD?
IBD is for Blockland players who are exceptional builders or eventers and are willing to share their knowledge with others. You are allowed to be in both IBD and another clan. We just request that you use the IBD clan tag either before or after your name.

What are my responsibilities as a clan member?
All IBD clan members are encouraged to write about their building, eventing, or scripting techniques in the IBD Research Forums. An IBD clan member is also expected to come to all clan meetings. A PM will be sent out to all members and a topic will be posted at least a week in advance. If a member has two unexcused absences in a row, he or she will be contacted as to whether or not he or she still wants to be a part of the clan.

How do I apply?
To become a student:
PM Klutz to tell me that you would like to become a student.

To join the building or eventing department as an expert:
1. Make an application build (focusing on either building or events) to show off your ability.
2. Upload some pictures of your build in the Gallery. It would be nice but is not necessary to upload the save. After making the Gallery post, please either PM Klutz or comment below to say that you're ready for us to look at your application.

We currently have 2 student, 1 building department, and 4 eventing department spots open.

This is a list of all the current IBD members.
