Hi all,

I've always wanted to incorporate F1 racing into Blockland. I've decided, since I've recently picked up Blender again, to go ahead and model an F1 car, as such.



I can't code to save my life though, much less incorporate things like sounds and proper acceleration, so it'd be really neato if I could get help from a coder. PM me or reply if you're interested.

Modification Help / Looking for people to work on a weapon pack with

Thinking about making a near-future weapon pack for the game. Here's an idea of the kind of weapons I'm working on...




If you're an experienced coder and you're interested in helping, you should expect to work with:
  • Raytraced projectiles
  • Weapon animations
  • Ammunition system
  • Armour pickup systems

If you're a sound designer or model animator (or both...), you're welcome as well! Just make sure you show some of your previous work too.

Everyone who works here should also be happy to discuss weapon design concepts and balance ideas. While everyone would have different roles working on the project, anyone is allowed to contribute ideas to the weapon pack.

Help / Account name changes that I didn't perform

I don't really know where to put this, so I'll leave it in this category.

Twice in the past few months I've started up my game after a while of not playing to find my username changed. The first time when my name was changed, it was to "Necluse", so I changed it back. I looked up my ID on the RTB ID lookup system (my ID's 12645) and didn't find any evidence of a name change when I myself wasn't using the account, in fact the name change was logged as being made the second I started up Blockland. I brushed it off as a simple technical hiccup and played for a good few weeks before I stopped again.

The second time was just a few minutes ago, I started up Blockland and my name was changed to an insult (something like "richardless wad", real offensive there nsfw 18+). I immediately got concerned and headed to the RTB site to look up my ID, but apparently the timing couldn't be worse and the RTB site and its tools are down.

Though there doesn't seem to be any evidence of someone impersonating as me or whatever, I'm getting worried that someone (who I guess doesn't like me very much) has my authentication key. I want to know if this is really just a glitch and I'm just overreacting or if someone does have access to my account for some reason.

Creativity / Blockland Multiple Languages

I met a Korean player on my server, and so I just decided to get his help and translate "Blockland" into Korean because why the forget not. Eventually I got help from other people to translate it into other languages. Click for full size, it's pretty big.

  • Changed Japanese "ブロックランド" to "ブロックのランド".
  • Changed Polish "Klockoland" to "Klocekland".
  • Removed Spanish due to redundancy in language mechanics.

  • Changed Finnish "Kuutiomaa" to "Palikkamaa".

  • Changed Japanese "ブロックのランド" to "ブロックランド" and it's gonna stay like that.

General Discussion / Your Own Building Code

Whenever I always built stuff in the game there's this little part of me that keeps poking me to do certain things for certain reasons. Sometimes those things become hard set rules I set for myself and always follow. It's almost like a building code.

So far I personally have:
  • Hidden supporting bricks must be painted red, so that the wireframe ghost can be seen when holding the wrench.
  • If red cannot be seen, use white or bright blue.
  • When building any building, always place it on top of a set of ModTer cubes. You never know when you might want to add a basement.
  • Build the floor (or at least mark it) before you build the walls, not the other way around.
  • Walls must be at least two studs thick to allow differences in on both sides, as well as to add engraved features on the outside.
  • The optimal height for each floor of a building is 7-10 bricks high.
  • The optimal height in which windows should be raised from the floor is 2 bricks high.

Of course, those are my own and people have their own sets of building code. If any, what are your own personal building codes you follow?

Suggestions & Requests / GUI Placement of "Tutorial"?

I was discussing with a couple other people on Barnabas' server about some of Blockland's GUI elements. It mean it's not iOS 7 or anything but it's pretty good and usable, however there's a few points I just don't quite get.

Biggest problem is that I've been seeing a lot is how few the new players have played the tutorial. Lots of them wander onto the server asking things like how to build or spawn vehicles. We've noted how the "Tutorial" button is now no longer an element on the main menu but rather badly located, buried under a bunch of other game modes under the "Start A Game" menu. I recommend either adding the Tutorial button back to the main menu, or prompting the player to play the tutorial on the first launch, or both.

Help / ID not linking with Steam account

Through the advice of our newly-appointed official unofficial Steam tech support Q&A guy Demian I'll post my troubles here.

So earlier this week I was informed (rather, screamed at on Skype and Tumblr by 4 different people) that Blockland has made through the Steam Greenlight. After confirming that it wasn't simply a large prank on me and was indeed real, I soon turned up to the Blockland.us site to link the key with my Steam account through this page so I can join in the fun. Logged in, followed the steps, got the success page and looked at my Steam Library to play oh wait it isn't there.

Apparently after following the steps on the page Blockland didn't appear on my library as I heard it should. I tried restarting the linking process again, however the site kept barging in my way saying "Looks like your Steam account is already tied to Blockland ID 12645" and not letting me go through the process. Indeed it was my ID, but still no Blockland in my library.

It's been several days and I haven't found a clear fix or even reason to why it's happening. I've been really hyped to try out Blockland with Steam right now.

Gallery / Warehouse thing [WIP]

Hi, it's been a while since I've played Blockland or even came to this part of the forum for that matter, so I decided to start building a warehouse. It's meant to be based off of industrial buildings in Hong Kong.

It's a WIP (what a surprise from me). The random staircase is for planning and convenience purposes.


Exterior. Couldn't really think of a way to portray corrugated steel garage doors other than spamming 16x1f.


Interior of the garage, still quite empty. Will add lights.


The bit of the garage that's mostly done. I don't exactly know why anyone would need that many 55 gallon drums.

Any feedback would be welcome.

Modification Help / Animations in Blender

Is there a tutorial or guide or something on how to do weapon animations in Blender? I've found a couple, but all they do is teach how to move a bone from point A to point B and export. I have trouble when it comes to animating multiple bones for a single animation, and having multiple sequences for a model.
