Add-Ons / [Sound Pack] Punk-o-Matic 2 Guitar Sounds
« on: February 11, 2014, 09:54:33 PM »
Hey everyone! I originally posted these to RTB and... well, y'know. So I figured I'd post them here to bolster my downloads so others can enjoy the wonderful electric guitars from Punk-o-Matic 2 IN BLOCKLAND!

Anyway, the link below leads to a place where you can download three separate packs: Rhythm Guitar (30 sounds from E3 to F#4, open and muted), Lead Guitar (24 sounds from C4-B4, open and muted), and Bass (20 sounds from E2-B3). The sounds are numbered based on the Synth4 system (00 is C, 01 is C#, etc.) I hope you enjoy!

Get the goods here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/hu8ntoealnkgjql/6tOni9Wdiy

Copyright notice: These sounds were not created and are not owned by me. They are from the game Punk-o-Matic 2 created by Evil-Dog. I just clipped the silence to lower the file sizes and renamed them to better fit the Blockland naming scheme.

Help / RTB has been down for me since last night.
« on: April 01, 2013, 11:34:14 AM »
Hey guys, is it just me, or have all the features of RTB, as well as the RTB website, stopped working?

I can't access the website, nor download any files from the RTB Listings, nor use any of the in-game features.

It's weird, because I still see files getting updated in the RTB Listings forum and nobody else seems to be having problems or else I would've seen a topic covering this before mine.

So what's going on? Is RTB down for just me, or is anyone else having problems as well? Please respond ASAP because there are some new files there I want to download.

Help / Blockland doesn't authenticate me automatically
« on: July 08, 2012, 12:24:09 PM »
Hello, folks. I recently ran into the problem where Blockland doesn't authenticate me automatically. When Blockland starts up, it shows "authentication connecting" at the bottom for a few seconds, then goes to offline mode. It's almost like it can't reach the authentication server.

I can fix this problem by going to the console and typing auth_init_client(); at which point it shows Authentication SUCCESS in the console and my name at the bottom of the main menu.

I've tried uninstalling some old unused client mods to no avail, so I come to you guys to see if you can see something I don't. I have attached the console.log below and hope one of you guys can help me.

Useful stats that may help:
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium

Suggestions & Requests / True "radio stations" and setVehicleStereo
« on: June 22, 2012, 10:49:27 PM »
I have some ideas for events that would be pretty useful involving radio stations.

{Self/Named B rick/Vehicle} radioSetStation [stationFrequency] - Allows you to "tune into" a station. You could set a brick's station or a vehicle's station (allowing for a true car radio experience). There would be a single textbox accepting a floating-point number from 0 to 1000. Alternatively, you could use names for stations. A frequency of 0 would be the default and would act as the off-state, effectively "de-tuning" the brick's/vehicle's radio, preventing broadcasts to it.
Expansion on the idea: It would be cool if someone could figure out some way to instantly change the brick's/vehicle's music to the song currently being broadcast when the station is changed. They'd miss out on messages since those are instantaneous, but it'd be cool to hear what's playing on the new station right away, instead of waiting until the next broadcast from the station. Also, there could be a chat command allowing the driver of a vehicle to manually tune to a station with /setStation [0-1000]

{Self/Named Brick}radioBroadcastSong [stationFrequency] [songToPlay] - Broadcast a song over a certain frequency. Would have a textbox identical to radioSetStation, as well as a dropdown for the song to play.

{Self/Named Brick}radioBroadcastMessage [stationFrequency] [msgType] [msg] - Broadcast a message over a certain frequency. Would have a textbox for the frequency, a dropdown to select whether the message is a chatMessage, centerPrint, or bottomPrint, and another textbox for the contents of the message. For bricks, the message would be broadcast within a certain radius. For vehicles, everyone mounted to the vehicle would receive the message.

{Self/Named Brick} setVehicleStereo / {Vehicle} setStereo [list {Enable, Disable, Set Song}] [songToPlay] - Allows you to change the properties of a vehicle's stereo. When the first dropdown is set to "enable", the stereo works as normal (type /stereo and select a song). "Disable" stops the stereo from working (would display a message if a user typed /stereo in the vehicle). The "Set Song" option would utilize the second dropdown, allowing you to remotely change the song that is playing in the vehicle.

---

I realize a lot of this can already be done with named bricks, but these events would work across brickgroups, allowing users to opt-into listening to a station or simply disallow reception of broadcast songs. Also, there is currently no event to change a vehicle's music (as the vehicle stereo is an add-on itself).

The only issue I could see with an event like radioBroadcastSong is that it would probably have to iterate through every single brick and vehicle to see if it has the same station as the broadcast event and, if it does, set its music (if possible).

Let me know whether or not you think this is a good idea.[/list]

Help / RTB Server Control not working, even with just default add-ons
« on: November 16, 2011, 11:31:09 AM »
Hello everyone,

My RTB Server Control has been non-functional for a while now. I've confirmed that it's NOT one of my add-ons, because it doesn't work even with just default add-ons enabled. Reinstalling RTB didn't help, either. I have attached my console.log which has my normal add-ons enabled. Can someone help me out? Any advice would be appreciated.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit if that makes any difference.

Seriously, I just started a server and the blue bar flew across the screen. It took me ten seconds to load what used to take me about two minutes. Optimization much? Or is something just going on with one of my add-ons?

Gallery / The Chordinator - A little music thang
« on: February 08, 2011, 10:27:31 PM »
Hey, Everyone! I love the Extended Piano Sounds pack. I also love things that make music in BL. I decided I would whip up a device that would allow basic music making AND allow you to play chords with a single click too!

So I present to you: THE CHORDINATOR!

That jumble of colors there in the middle is the device. It has two main areas: The NotePlayer and the KeySelector.
The top part is where you play the notes/chords. The slider switch controls whether it is in Chord Mode (three notes at once are played) or Note Mode (only the note you click is played). Important: The top row of notes are always in Note Mode.
The thing to know about the NotePlayer is you can only play notes in a "diatonic" scale (do, re, mi, fa, sol, la, ti, do). Basically, think of only being able to play the white keys on a piano if you are playing in the key of "C Major".

The bottom part is the KeySelector. As its name implies, you use this area to change what key the notes up top are in. The default key is C Major (Shown in screenshot with the upper left brick glowing as well as the one at the bottom left.) That glowing white brick in the picture actually switches the KeySelector between Major and Minor modes (Glowing is major, not glowing is minor). Minor mode basically switches some of the notes in the key for a sadder feel to the melody. The blue brick in the bottom right will remind you which button corresponds to each key.

How chords work
When the Chordinator is in Chord Mode, the note you play is the "root" of the chord and the two other notes of the chord are activated automatically. For example, if you play Do (the red notes in the picture), Mi (yellow) and Sol (cyan) will also be played. For Re (the orange notes), Fa (green) and La (aqua) will be played. It's best to just play around with it.

...And play around with it you can, because I have graciously attached the save file to the bottom of the post!

V2!

Yep, the Chordinator now has a new style, a new layout, and that chord mode switch was moved out of the way so you don't accidentally click it nearly as much. I am still keeping V1 up in case people decide they like it better.

Required Add-Ons
Extended Piano Sounds v2.0 - http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=123151.0 (Needed for the notes)
PhyDoors - http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=123017.0 (For the Slider Switch)

I THINK that is everything.

Video
I might make a video to demonstrate the device better than any amount of text could hope to do.

Updates
02/09/11 11:15PM - Updated the save file to fix a couple of missing playSound events. Don't ask how they became missing, just redownload if you downloaded the .bls before now. I added in a music brick column thing opposite the Chordinator as a "free gift" for the trouble of having to redownload.
02/24/11 11:45PM - I redesigned the layout of the device. The functionality is completely identical, but the device is now 4x6x3+1/3 instead of 4x4x2+2/3. In my opinion, the layout might be a bit less intuitive, but it is more versatile and has better "grouped chords". It also has an updated color scheme to signify that it is a product of SleTech. Save included and picture added above.

Future Plans
  • None at the moment.
  • Suggestions are welcome!

Help / Blockland crashes every time I try to host.
« on: February 03, 2011, 08:30:27 PM »
It always crashes in about the same place; somewhere around where it is supposed to begin loading datablocks. Sometimes it doesn't make it that far, other times it gets to the loading screen and crashes with a Visual C++ runtime error.

I attached my console.log. Hopefully someone can figure out what's throwing a wrench into my hosting abilities.
NOTE: It seems to work fine with default add-ons, so I think it's an add-on issue. I can't find anything in the console log though.

Music / Tetris On Speed
« on: July 25, 2007, 08:09:26 PM »
PLEASE NOTE: I DID NOT MAKE THIS. I just made it into a loop.

This song is from the Newgrounds Audio Portal. The direct link to the full song is: http://www.newgrounds.com/audio/listen/6914
This is a good song to use as background music while you're playing Tetris, or to use in a rave, or whatever.
The loop is about 45 seconds long, and is just under the 500KB limit. Enjoy.
Remember: Place in base/data/sound/music and enable it in the Music Files list.

Suggestions & Requests / Ideas for the printer...
« on: July 24, 2007, 09:08:29 PM »
Hello. I was thinking of a few ideas for the Printer that I think would be useful.

Idea 1: A Print-Locker. Let me explain: It is a check box in the Printer dialog that, when checked, saves the last print you used. Say you wanted to make a wall of blank print bricks for example. You'd click the Print-Lock check box, press space to make the print blank, then next time you planted a print brick, it would be blank instead of having the "A" on it. This'd also be good for making lines of dashes for table separations (if you use tables for competition leaderboards and such...) or making a long row of caution-print bricks, or other uses.

Idea 2: A button for Pre-Print. Similar to the Print Locker, except you don't actually use the printer. You press a button and the printer dialog comes up. Select a print and it'll save it for future use just like the Print-Locker. The advantage with this is that you can use print bricks in macros, like to make street signs with the street name already on them, then use that macro to create the street signs quickly and efficiently without having to go and print every brick after you macroed them.

Help / Well this is just great... (Save issue)
« on: May 27, 2007, 06:11:55 AM »
I have been running a dedicated server all night and just a few minutes ago people started crashing out. It was only a matter of time before I would to. I got this error (taken from the console log)

Fatal-ISV: (\dev\Blockland\trunk\engine\game\fx\brickOct.cc @ 1404) octBatcher::queue - out of range texture id!

So is there anything I can do? Can I go into the save in Notepad and clear out the problem, or is my save screwed?

Help / Buffer overrun! (Too many music files?)
« on: March 07, 2007, 04:18:48 PM »
I have a whole bunch of music files (all downloaded from here) in my \base\data\sound\music folder. When  I click on music files in the start server dialog, sometimes this pops up:

"Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Buffer Overrun Detected!

C:\Program Files\BlocklandRetail\Blockland.exe

A buffer overrun has been detected and has corrupted the program's internal state. The program can not safely continue execution and must be terminated."

What can I do?
