Off Topic / Nearly 25,000 schoolteachers to go on strike in Chicago monday

stuffs massive dawg. It's supposed to put about 350,000 kids, or something like that, out of school. The last strike of these proportions in chicago was 25 years ago, and that lasted 19 days. More recently, I think detroit had a strike for similar reasons.
I guess this is a good time to discuss what guys think about the way teachers are treated and how teaching is treated as a profession as a whole, along with this strike in particular....
Any thoughts?
