Add-Ons / Event_doPlayerTeleport Edit
« on: March 26, 2017, 03:29:03 AM »
a while ago i posted a request for some additional functions to doPlayerTeleport
since waiting three months for someone else to do it for me wasn't working, i bothered ottosparks until he helped me make it

old on left, new on right

this is exactly the same as christbot's except it's now capable of doing what i described in that suggestions and requests thread. not sure what that means? here's some gifs of things you can do with it that you couldn't do conveniently before:

$30 entrance fee this time, but there's a whole lot of good stuff.

i've had an idea in my head for an illusion that could be done with doPlayerTeleport (it's not very different from what's already been done in the original thread), but in order for it to work currently, i'd have to spend a lot of extra space having four copies of the same map so that seamless teleports could be done through some hallways. instead i figured a little addition to the mod would hopefully be to its benefit, so here's what i'm proposing

the current state of the mod allows me to do this (it's all a top down view of some plates on the ground):

i tell A to teleport me the moment i step off of it, everything works perfectly, this is what is already known but i figured i'd illustrate it so you understand the next couple of images.

the trick i'm trying to pull looks more like this:

two things change here: the player is rotated exactly 180 degrees relative to their previous facing direction, and the player is teleported to a point on B that is directly across the brick from where they were on A. both the player's camera and the point they teleport to needs to be rotated 180 degrees around the center of the brick.

unfortunately, since the only options for changing a player's view with the mod is absolute, i get this instead:

and i can't check the second box or the absolute rotation will refuse to work in the first place

so my proposal would be to change the dropdown menu a little by adding a few options.
instead of just:

there would also be the options "90", "180", and "270". (and the relative option stays exactly the same but would essentially also represent a 0 or 360 degree rotation)

now, by selecting 180, the teleport looks more like this:

of course, i end up in the center of B because i haven't told my position to change 180 degrees around the plate as well,

so finally i check the relative position box and i get what i'm looking for, this:

hooray! hopefully that makes sense. there are probably even better ways of implementing this but this is what came to my mind first.

Games / Two+ idiots need games to play
« on: January 20, 2014, 02:34:57 PM »
so i have a friend who i play with often and a couple of other friends who are online every once in a while. we keep running into the problem of what game can we play that's cooperative fun and not some DM that makes us pissed at each other. also my friend has a mac and i'm windows, eugh

we've played a lot of games and we're running out of ideas

- Blockland
- Team Fortress 2 (+MvM)
- Minecraft (i hosted a bullstuff amount of fun with that)
- Dungeon Defenders
- Borderlands 2 (+ loads of DLC)
- Starbound
- Spiral Knights
- Ace of Spades
- Awesomenauts
- Garry's Mod (Prop Hunt, Sandbox, but i'm not playing TTT no siree)
- Realm of the Mad God
- Terraria (1.1.whatever, since 1.2 doesn't have a mac port)
- Monaco
- Left 4 Dead 2
- Hammerwatch
- Castle Crashers
- Forge Quest
- Attack on Titan Unity Game
- bunch of other stuff that wasn't a steam game but we did that 2+ years ago so whatever

stuff we're considering:
- Wizard 101
- Rust
- i kind of want Guild Wars 2 but it's expensive
- Two Worlds II

go ahead and use this as a list of stuff for you to use; but also if you have games you play with your friends, dont hesitate to mention it here! we can pay for some games assuming they aren't like $40+, any help appreciated

Off Topic / what the forget is wrong with my computer
« on: October 03, 2013, 10:12:56 PM »
edit: read past this first part, this was my previous error and now i'm realizing it's something a little weirder.

using chrome, trying to view youtube videos, and everything i look at is played 2x faster than usual and the audio is horribly deformed, scratchy, distorted; so it basically sounds like my computer is possessed.

google results suggest that i have a bad plugin for flash, but i only have two and neither of them are fixing the problem when i enable one by itself and try loading a video.

edit:
alright so i've made multiple audio tests but nothing is working, it's always scratchy and weird and the videos off youtube still play really quickly

but then i got a windows error and noticed that the error sound also played very quickly and strangly

so i've started up some different steam games and even a music making program off to the side and all of it goes twice as fast and its audio is always played scratchy and strangly. it's something wrong with either my headset or my computer, maybe a virus. i doubt it's my headset causing my computer to run twice as fast, though.

Off Topic / playstation 3 problems
« on: August 31, 2013, 03:54:42 PM »
so yes obviously coming here isn't a great solution if i'm having a problem with a playstation but you guys are more likely to give me an answer faster and if nothing here works ill register on a different forum.

i have a playstation 3 and two controllers, one which came with the thing and one i bought a week later, both connected fine and immediately to the system.

today my friends came over (about a year after i got the ps3) and one of them brought a third, dualshock controller painted red, he says it isn't custom or anything.

what i've tried:
first
1. press ps button
failed

then
1. plug friend controller into a two-controller charger i bought for those original two controllers that connect fine
2. press ps button
failed

then
1. plug friend controller straight into ps3 with the original charging cord
2. press ps button
failed

then
1. turn off ps3
2. turn on ps3
3. plug friend controller straight into ps3 with the original charging cord
4. press ps button
failed

then
1. turn off ps3
2. plug friend controller straight into ps3 with the original charging cord
3. press reset button in back of controller (held for 10 seconds)
4. turn on ps3 (controller is still plugged in)
5. press ps button
failed

nothing is loving working, this is absolute grade a bullstuff.

Off Topic / May Birthdays
« on: May 29, 2013, 07:13:39 PM »
with all these birthdays in may i think it's important to recognize the superiority of this month over all the others, it being the coolest month to be born in.

as a wise man once said,
god damn a lot of people were born in may holy stuff

and so let us birth'd in may rejoice and separate ourselves from the others that were as unfortunate enough as to not have been born during these glorious 31 days.

May 02: Subpixel, Filipe, Artificial Blocko
May 04: Pecon, Vegetarian Zombie, Swat 3
May 07: blocknight
May 11: nienhaus1
May 12: Bloody Mary, Headcrab Zombie
May 13: halonerfer29
May 16: Lalam24
May 17: Bosie1997
May 20: Frontrox, Nitro_Weavile
May 23: Brickmaster, Lusk

May 27: -Pablo-, brodude12345
May 28: BuildaBox, ChappersTeddy
May 29: .:FancyPants:., Snow2, TheScout
May 30: superslayer

if you aren't on this list, have your name misspelled, or i didn't put your name in the right place, tell me.

this list might become something super cool next year, so you definitely want to be on it.

Suggestions & Requests / Drag and Drop Events
« on: February 17, 2013, 02:40:13 AM »
i'm sure this has been mentioned at some point or another, but search didn't provide anything like what i'd like to suggest.

i think this would best be described as something similar to WYSIWYG coding (which i believe is the correct term to use).

instead, events would be placed in a sort of grid, like microsoft excel. you could drag certain parameters down columns (because you can't put OnActivate into the output parameter), which would give you option to do any of these three:

it would also be capable of knowing if you put something like InstantRespawn next to Client, and it wouldn't allow you to do that. if an input parameter was deleted, all the events after it would be removed as well.

also i would hope (and this was the idea that led onto me wanting to post this) that you could select a certain number of events and copy and paste them. what was copied could then be pasted into other bricks.

i don't know if this is even remotely possible, but it would be amazing and incredibly useful if it could.

i know this thread has come up multiple times, but i've been searching and can't find any of them.
i don't know if off-topic is the right place for this but it should be solved pretty quickly.

this stuff is happening to me.

Gallery / [CB] Application - Minimal Space 1 (or MS1) BL-PC
« on: January 19, 2013, 02:42:46 PM »
This thread is an application to the clan COMBLOCK.

I am applying for Hardware in the Eventing Department.

to join this part of eventing you need to make what you think a BL-PC is and then post it in the gallery.

At the time the video was created and edited, I had not settled on an official name. I would seriously recommend that you watch the video, it gives you a much better idea of what this computer really does.

No, this is not an incredibly advanced machine. I used entirely default events and a small amount of space to demonstrate that I could have a constrained number of events and a limited area, but still be able to make a nice, as well as functioning, computer.

Off Topic / What kind of instrument is this?
« on: December 08, 2012, 11:38:14 PM »
Shining Star:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwc0AW67CmA,
from 0:48, becomes the lead at 0:56, and turns into guitar at 1:01.

then

Extreme Ways:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOuPqeHXMzQ
starts at 0:07, plays through pretty much the whole song.

i really love this instrument, which i assume is played through a keyboard, and would love to know if it has a name.
