Off Topic / Name of a song
« on: October 18, 2009, 07:55:40 PM »
I was trying to find the name of a song but I couldn't find it through google. I can't remember the complete lyrics but its something like "Tell me why why why....other lyrics....I get my *mindblanks*......I get my *mindblanks*.....I get high as a kite I get all strung out...". I also remember something about shoes and cocaine but I'm not sure. The songs played on a is played on a guitar with the singer playing a single note of the song at a time. It's probably a few years old since I heard it on a classic rock station. If anyone can figure out the name of the song I'd appreciate, I'll try to put more information up if I can remember anything else  :panda:

Off Topic / New Laptop
« on: June 17, 2009, 05:00:58 PM »
A while ago I bought a laptop on sale for about 600$ and ever since then I've had nothing but trouble with it, having to send it back 2 times for repairs.  Anyways this time the repairs are going to run me about 400$+ for parts and labor (motherboard) so I thought that I might as well get a new one and I wanted you guys opinion.  I'm not willing to spend over 500$ (well a little over...) but if you have any other recommendations feel free to post them.

The ones I was really thinking about getting are

I was going to try importing a height map into Blockland but I can't find the right directory to put them, does anyone know the correct directory?

Solved my problem, create a folder in your blockland directory called "editor" and place inside it a folder called "heightscripts" this is where your height maps wills go.

I have a couple videos that I need to convert from .flv to mpg4 for my iPod and I was wondering if anyone knew of any good freeware that I could use.  I googled for some earlier but I didn't find any that looked good and wanted to know if anyone had a recommendation.

    Aviary is a set of web based design products that you can use on any computer with flash enabled they have a variety of different products that range from a vector graphics program called Raven, to a planned 3D modeling software called Hummingbird. There are still a few minor bugs that I noticed (which could be my fault since I'm running Firefox portable) with some of the programs but I was able to create and export a few things earlier.  One of the cool things about it is you can export your creations to a variety of different formats, so if you want to edit it in another program later you can, also Raven exports to .png so you could create a decal for Blockland strait from there :D.  The site also has a blog section where news on upcoming releases are posted as well as a forum for any questions you might have. There is also a section with several tutorials covering their released products that you can look at.

Modification Help / Objects in TorqueScript
« on: February 23, 2009, 01:59:57 PM »
    I was wondering how would you find out which objects classes are built into TorqueScript and how you would find what methods and properties they have built into them.  Also what would be the best way of finding out what their parent classes they belong to and what child classes they have if any.

Off Topic / Need advice on what grapics card to get
« on: January 16, 2009, 01:05:21 PM »
I play a lot of games on my grandpa's computer and it plays most games fine.  However when I want to play any source games like HL2, L4D or Portal it slows up considerably especially in outdoor scenes.

  My first question is what would be a good relatively cheap graphics card, about 120$ atm or cheaper that would be able to run source games smoothly.  My second question is how hard is it to install a graphic's card, I've put in things like CD/DVD drives and ram before is it any harder than that?

I did a little research and I found out the computer has the following slots inside
Quote
PCI: 2 Slots
PCIe x1: 1 Slot
PCIe x16 (Graphics): 1 Slot

Suggestions & Requests / Blockland offline mode
« on: January 01, 2009, 03:32:42 PM »
    I have blockland installed on a computer at my grandma's computer which is shared between me and my cousins.  The problem is that since they are all young I would like to keep them from playing online, however I am not always around to make sure that they stay offline.

    My question is would it be possible to implement some sort of password system that keeps them from accessing the online portion of the game?
My suggestion is a log-in panel that restricts access to muilt-player for people who share computers with younger siblings.

Off Topic / Picture request [Rocket launcher projectile]
« on: December 02, 2008, 01:01:53 PM »
I was wondering if some could post a side shot of the rocket launcher projectile, I need it for a project and I am not at a computer with blockland.  If you could take the picture with a background that has a lot of contrast for instance Destruct that would be even better.  Thanks

Off Topic / Math Problem
« on: September 09, 2008, 07:55:17 PM »
I was wondering if anyone could help me solve this math problem.

"If John starts at zero and adds 3 on his calculator and Sam starts at a hundred and subtracts seven at what number would they meet."

The only way that I could think to do this would be to use a number line but I was wondering if anyone knows
of a easier solution.

Help / Port Fowarding Issues
« on: April 29, 2008, 03:58:53 PM »
I'm trying to forward my ports for Blockland and I have already set up a static IP for my computer.  However I'm having issues with my router control page.  The guide I'm following says for me to go to expert --> configure and then choose the option NAT.  However I can not find it under configure; so after digging through it a bit I found out how to get to the NAT page. However none of the options on the NAT list look anything like the guide I'm using.  So I was curious as to if any one knows what the problem is.

Modification Help / Message all problems
« on: April 27, 2008, 06:25:03 PM »
I was porting an older map that has a kill trigger that is supposed to message all that the player died when ever you enter the trigger.  However when ever I enter the trigger only the death message is displayed with out the players name and sense I have very little coding knowledge I decided to post here for help.

Here's the trigger function:
Code: [Select]
function BLGrillTrigger::onEnterTrigger( %this, %trigger, %obj )
{
   if (!%obj.client)
      return;
   %messageArray[0] = "\c2" @ %obj.client.namebase @ " just decided to sleep with the coals.";
   %messageArray[1] = "\c2" @ %obj.client.namebase @ " decided to go for well-done.";
   %messageArray[2] = "\c2" @ %obj.client.namebase @ " likes it HOT.";
   %messageArray[3] = "\c2" @ %obj.client.namebase @ " fails at walking on hot coals.";
   %messageArray[4] = "\c2" @ %obj.client.namebase @ " IS ON FIRE!!!";
   %messageArray[5] = "\c2" @ %obj.client.namebase @ " turned into a plastic puddle.";
   %messageArray[6] = "\c2" @ %obj.client.namebase @ " says, 'That's hot.'";
   %messageArray[7] = "\c2" @ %obj.client.namebase @ " decided to go down in flames.";
   %messageArray[8] = "\c2" @ %obj.client.namebase @ " made like Gollum and the One Ring.";
   %messageArray[9] = "\c2" @ %obj.client.namebase @ " is now available in Flame-Broiled or Extra Crispy.";
   messageAll('SomeDumarseFellIntoTheGrill', %messageArray[getRandom(0,9)]);
   %obj.kill();
}

Mapping Help / Slate Room (Testing Phase)
« on: April 20, 2008, 07:31:13 PM »
I’ve been working on a map that gives the illusion of an interior map without limitations. I’ve pretty much finished it, but I would like to post it here so I can get some feedback on it, and be able to iron out any problems. There is a missing texture error, because two textures were used in the original terrain file. So if anyone knows how to delete a texture from the texture painter, let me know. I know the fog looks a little awkward, but I left it in to reduce lag from rendering all the terrain. I'm aware the name is kinda of lame so I'm open to any suggestions.  With out any further delay I present Slate Room:
