Creativity / My 1991 LCC Declasse Premier Taxi

  Hey folks, I hopped on here and decided I'd like to share with you all a project of mine I finished earlier this year-to be precise.. about several months ago.
The project consisted for about 8 months or longer during the spare time of my life. I believe I put about $2000 into the vehicle. ($600 mechanical restoration, $800 paintwork, $500 cab exterior+rebadging)


Back in May of last year, 2021 I bought a decently taken care of 1991 Chevy Caprice Classic. Two owners-both kin to each other about almost two hours from home.
The roof was sunbleached, plenty of fade and peal to the clearcoat, aged foggy headlights, awful pealing luxury sideskirt plating, bumper stickers, dirty interrior-smokers car.
You could literally 'breath the ashes' let's just say. Owner had cigarette' burns on the lovely cloth bench seat. :(

Now, Mechanically, the vehicle looked and seemed alright. Engine was intact though, greasy. You can tell the engine hasn't been detailed in years.
The owner was honest and did tell me it had some issues that needed fixing.. He believed I'd have to put at least $2000 to fix the problems.

Problems
Climate control/heater fan was not blowing into the cabin. Catalytic converter manifold leaking. Basic fluid swap. Fuel gauge, speedo stuck.
All window alignment fixed, window motors replaced. Need new tires.

Now, he was willing to sell this to me though I gotta say..
He really didn't wanna sell this car. You see, this was his fathers car. Bought it in 92' straight from the dealership.
In 2020, he passed away. His son, who owned the vehicle wanted to fix it up though when you're married, have a family to provide for, that can be hard to accomplish.

I found this vehicle listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace. Turns out his wife posted the vehicle for sale while the man was at work, without his knowledge..
He called me back after getting off work wondering why tf his car daddy's car is for sale. Yeah. Though as he said, 'a deal is a deal' And, he went through with it.
He had no grudges towards the buyer.. Though, let's not talk about the night after the purchase at his home..

Alright, now I said the husband was honest though, his wife.. Not so much. Lmao the mileage on the vehicle was said to be 120,000. Checked the odometer and that stuff was 257,000.
I chuckled and was like, "Oh, it's a Chevy."

Now, I was gonna test drive the vehicle that day though, to the man's surprise and my own.. The car wouldn't start. No power at all. Now, I was thinking at the moment-hey! This man's tampered
with the car so he won't have to sell it! He took a deep breath and said 'maybe the lord's lookin' out for me.' Though, I wasn't having that.
"Dad, call Triple-A. We're taking this mf home. How much did you say this was again? $800?" Yeah, I wanted it that badly.

He really wanted to help me out financially. So, he offered to sell it for $800. Though the wife wanted $2000.
After some talks he did with his wife: the price was negotiated to $1400. Sold.
I must mention how even though he really didn't want to sell it, he was relieved that someone out there was going to take good care of his baby, fix er' up and restore it.

Not long later, the tow truck arrived. Towed it immediately to my mechanic's shop.
The next day my mechanic called me up. He told me the issue was the Distributor module and, they go out easily on older Chevrolets though, are cheap, easy to fix.
Several hours later on the same day I paid $80 for the fix and cleaned up n' detailed the vehicle in and out the best I could at the time.
Before I drove off for the cleanup, I made sure to peal off the ugly pealing sideskirt plates at the shop.


I drove the vehicle around for about a week before I laid it to rest at my apartment complex parking lot at the time.
From late May to mid June I begun the first phase of work on the vehicle.
I masked the trim and any important parts I wanted to protect from sanding and began sanding alone.
The sandpaper used was 80grit. Orbital sanding and hand sanding. Paint, Primer and the clear was removed.
At times this was tedious as it was summer and days were hot with little shade.
Eventually I had help from a buddy and the process sped up drastically.


Painting. I was originally wanting to have my vehicle painted by Maaco.
I was promised a $800 paint job including prime and clear by the owner of the store location once I finish my prepwork.
When I returned some weeks later.. I was denied this offer. Told, something like 'yeah buddy, that's gonna be a $3000 job. You sanded it too extreme.'

After some frustration here and there, I eventually decided to say 'screw it' and invested into a mobile car port canopy, tape, and lots of 3m thick plastic sheets.
I built a makeshift paint shed on my parents drive way after I got their approval.

This part of the project took about 5-6 months. I was very on and off on it.
I masked the car up completely, bought two 1 gallon canisters of Rustolem Rusty metal primer, two home depot 1 gallon outdoor metal transportation yellow paint and, five rattle cans of clear coat.
The proper PPE was worn. I went cheap on the spray method and opted for a cheap $20 harbor freight electric paint gun. It was so cheap, crappy at times that I had to buy a second spray gun.
It just kept seizing on me causing splatter and overspray on the vehicle. Because of that, some parts of the vehicle didn't turn out the best I intended of.

The spray process in short went as such:
Washed the vehicle, dried. Primed. Primed again, double coat. Wetsanded using 400 or 600 grit (forgot precise grit) Painted. Applied second coat. Wetsanded again.
Applied two coats of clear and forget wetsanding it again! That stuff almost made me sick from the summer heat combined with the super cold water from the hose.

After the paintjob was complete.. It wasn't long before it returned to my mechanic to be mechanically restored.
We're talking about new brakes, rotors, new blower, clusters, windows fixed, engine tune up, catalytic converter removed, straightpiped exhaust, R12 AC system retrofitted and more.
Oh yeah and he replaced the mirrors and tail-lights for me along with shining the headlights. 90's Jeep mirrors and Impala tail-lights. (mirrors looked way larger online *sigh*)

I'd say it was a month 1/2 to 2 months later and the job was done. Costed me $600. Mechanic said it wasn't that hard.
Meanwhile, throughout the time waiting: I acquired the proper decals, bumperstickers, badges, emblems, antennas, license plates and the adbanner sign for the Taxi Package.

The Bumperstickers, decals and, badges were ripped from GTAIV using OpenIV. I used Paint.net and AI-Upscaling to modify the images to my needs.
As you all already know, the ad banner textures are from GTAV. A company manufactured the adbanner for me after I provided the images.

Piece by piece I would add the livery and equipment such as the antennas, badges, decals.. It wasn't all at once-I was simply too impatient lol
Sometimes I would stop by at the mechanic shop to install a recently delivered piece.

The vehicle is based on a mod from GTAIV and GTAV as well as the Declasse Premier from GTASA.

Taxi Package is pretty much complete besides the missing hood ornament. Just haven't had the funds to add the final piece even if it is about $80 on ebay.
Interior work still has a way to go. Before it's licensed up I need a new headliner, speakers, a meter and a bulletproof partition.

It's been a year since I got this car I just realized. As of May 2022, this car is my daily driver. I take it to meets, car shows and even sometimes have little' fun in it.
I do plan on getting my taxi license eventually and starting my own private cab company in my area. This car.. It's treated me well unlike my first car which, sadly is broken down.
Blown engine gaskets. Imported JDM's are a bitch to maintain and can take months to return back to the road over part shortages.

I gotta' be honest, this cabby has had it's issues at times.. Check engine light randomly coming on with no problems to be heard or seen.. The fuel pump failing (easy, cheap fix btw!)
Gas mileage ain't the best though since when did I care? Recently I made the best out of my fuel economy taking a week and 1/2 until I had to refuel only going to work n home.
Issues are way easier and quicker to resolve than my JDM.

Note that I may have forgot to add some details to the story.
Also note: throughout the time owned I've given the previous owner updates and the final result photos..
It puts a smile to his face that the cabby is in good hands.
Final Note: Yes, my plates are completely visible. Commercial vehicle-doesn't bother me.

Modification Help / Coding help on an EngineSound.cs file? (SOLVED)

Hi,

I'm attempting to paste code from Gunship_Helicopter.cs to Bronx_EngineSound.cs.

The code allows an audio file to play over another audio file for instance: audioCLOSE + audioFAR
to give a distant-like effect using two audio files.

I have been trying to get the code to function on the EngineSound.cs for over three hours with no success.
Either one sound plays or the other. Not both sounds layered on top of each other at varying distances as intended.
Both audio files used in the EngineSound.cs file function, though as stated only one file will play.


Would anyone know the problem or a solution to this?

Help / Stuck on Datablocks

Hey folks. Since last year: I've had this problem that players face when they join my server.
The connections for them are fine. The player can download and chat yet; once the download finishes and they
start loading datablocks the screen or such freezes once it's done loading and they never spawn.

They're stuck there forever. Even if they rejoin they face the same problem again.
So i'm curious and want to find a way to fix this. Does anybody know how?

Okay. The goal of the game is to book the criminal on the charges and he is sent off to the slammer. But, to do so you need to play your cards right.
Rules:
1. No new cases are created if the current case is not solved.
2. If nobody can solve the case it may be marked as COLD and the Interrogation can be reopened later if no cases are currently taking place.
3. This requires RP plus background thought for your Interrogation yet you must provide clues before you begin your suspect quote of interrogation.
4. Also include statements and such besides just saying "Lie" "Truth" or "Doubt".
5. Let's roll!

Document: Blockhead shot in cold blood by unknown gunman!
Evidence:
Five .357 revolver rounds recovered a few feet from body.

Recovered Magnum found inside of a public trashcan a block east of the scene.

Paper found in victim's left jacket pocket stating "Congratulations wanker! Your researchhub subscription has expired. Try flappin' it in HD now!-due fee: $200".

Wallet found in victim's right jacket pocket soaked in blood, contents inside are a Driver's license, a Paypal and, $666 blood soaked one dollar bills.

Harold, a bartender from across the street stated: "I was just done mixing this bubbah' a roostertail when suddenly I heard sudden bangs from outside. I didn't think much about it-like it must of been some folk's car breaking down-until I heard more.. This was around ugh.. 2:50ish? Wait-2:56PM-yeah."

The gun has been confiscated by YOU. After wrapping up at the scene, you head to the gunstore on 31st street and ask all the info on the weapon.
The salesman states the murder weapon is a Charter Arms Bulldog, five shot revolver. The Serial number on the side of the gun is registered to a "Eric hartman" once he checked the order logs on his PC.
You find his apartment and he is later taken into the precinct for questioning.

Off Topic / Question about Motion Detectors?

 I'm searching online for a simple motion detector yet can't find the type i'm looking for.
So what I'm trying to find is the detector that you can plop in a hallway or such and it comes with a remote.
Once it detects motion the small remote flashes a light to notify you of motion in the placed area.

Does this kind of detector exist guys?

 Hey everyone, I've always hated how when I play blockland and load up let's say Collab City or walk around a long corridor with  florescent lights every 5 studs away from each other the draw distance for lighting is so small, Lighting in the distance is canceled out and it reappears when you get closer.. I can't really explain this but I was wondering if somebody could create a client or script or such to improve this graphical problem that badspot has never fixed.

 Is it even possible?

Modification Help / Can't rework HandsOnVehicle_Support for vehicles!

 Hey, ever since i've been back to BL, I've been recoding a lot of Filipe's old vehicles, I set ALL to have the same physics and speed configurations as the "Club"
I now want players and bots inside the drivers seat to use HandsOnVehicle I typed the code in right on the .cs files and even exported the datablock and it still won't show up on the club. Any ideas how to fix? I noticed my hands disappear on the club so it's partially working. This is for my City Simulator..

 Hey again, It would be nice to have a server script that can be modified with RTB Prefs so at a set speed if the player crashes his vehicle, on impact the player or bot in the vehicle on the driver's seat will be dismounted from the driver's seat of the vehicle ejected forward at the speed they were going and, tumble. Pretty self explanatory, It can be done with events-it can be done with scripts. Also maybe if the player skids on the ground too fasts after landing, they can die?

Suggestions & Requests / FIXED Daycycle events would be nice.

 I know this isn't the only request about these events.. Daycycle events argh.. Every time I'd use them on lets say, Collab City
after wasting four hours to finish it let's say I leave because I've got other things to do. When I start my server up later I reload the map
and boy-i'm in for a surprise: "Too many events at once.". Um. No. Wrong, it worked after I finished it why won't it now? EVEN if I restart my server?
I'm assuming it's an error in the event and I want someone to fix it.

 Hey people, I've been working on my simulators for two years by now. When I have players on my server and they interact with bot holes that drive around the city and follow their routes and lets say the players drive reckless because lets face it: Most players do, the AI will plow into them if players are in the way of their route-or any object.

 I need simple events somebody could make for bot holes to change and somewhat add a sensor for bots as:

Onbotspot
or Onbotdetectplayer
 Maybe even Onbotdetectobject

 As if I had this I could set an event like this Onbotdetect>bot>setbotpowered>0

 So If a bot detects a player, object or vehicle and even brick in their setfov they will react to it with your specific outcome event.
I can also play sounds for detail if this is created for bots to play sounds through their body which is already possible so they can play a horn sound when they detect player from stopping. They can already honk but not from detecting player, more like onbotspawn or onbotreachbrick income events.

 I also need an event so the bot can react to threats such as being shot or taking damage.. It's self explanatory, They get damaged which is usually by player. Lets say they get damaged by gun from player it would look like:

Onbotdamaged>bot>setrunspeed: 1.0
 or Onbotdamaged>bot>playsound>engine_accelerate.wav


 I know that when players play on my server they usually tend to screw around with bots because they are interesting and they want to see their capabilities, either as observing or just ruining their routes and even their life. When I have a minigame up players will always try to kill the AI, I need this event here so the AI will react and try to get away from the player specifically but also in general to react in any outcome event.

With these two events-if made they will improve how AI are in many ways but yet can free up my restrictions on how they handle gotobrick feature because they will stop if an obstacle blocking their path with the right outcome event. AI will become more aware of their enviroments if they can react from taking damage.
 I would create these events myself just as I have been doing alot of things myself now but this is one I can not do on my own. Can somebody please help me?

Hey fellow Blocklanders! I've been very busy lately and offline on everything. (Life) Ever since earlier this year, I've been practicing "Sound-Engineering" and so far I've created two soundscape-art projects that I'd like to share with you. I will keep making more projects in the near future for my ultimate quest: to start a carrier as a Sound Engineer near my future home, Hiroshima, Japan-yes, I want to move to Japan. Japan makes a lot of profit over anime and-I'm just tired of living in this country (USA) and want a new life.. (And a beautiful wife.. you can't see this, shutup.)

First is: Godzilla VS Gigan-City In Anarchy-First-Person-view. This is my second project that isn't a test and is huge, i'm talking about at least 12 minutes of audio once done.. This is only a teaser. My footsteps low qual on-purpose.. Oh-Did I say I voice act..? I need voice actors for this project indefinite.. I can't modify my voice to sound female because audacity. Also, I can't move on forward with the project unless I have volunteer voice actors-they will be given credit in page description of future release.. The panic scene which is once Godzilla is noticed-hey! I can't just add a crowd panic ambiance, too fake and; too lazy.. This Teaser Imo is perfect but I have more ideas for this clip in the future.. This project is based off of the intro cinematic to Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee-very nastalgic intro; my project although: realistic, modern..

Second is: "The Wanderer" It's based off the Fallout 4 Live-Action-World-Premiere-Trailer.. Think about it-what if the trailer was Extended and, had sound..? Well, now it does! (I have never played ANY of the Fallout Series or watched anything related to it all sounds are from my own eyesight of the trailer and ideas..) I removed parts of the wonderful song by Dion so-it's shortened to at least 2:18 I'd say and: It's lyrics are more post-apocalyptic-like..?

Hi, I havn't posted .ogg files since the beggining of last year, I have improved incredibly and decided to post all my
music loops and my ambients i've converted and looped. They are each in a zip although I re-looped some posts I made
in the past on this board.

Download Ambients!
A whole pack of ambients ranging from Enviroments as in the urban city all the way to the day/night of the shoreline..
Also ranges from vehicle idle loops to "Dead-driver-horn" loops and even to Car alarm loops.
Certain ambients ported directly out of SimCity Societies-expect perfect looping.
Those with the weird names-for example, "amb_day_plains" are ported.
There is quite alot you should find useful in this zip.

Modification Help / Help with Sound files

Okay, I packaged a few sound files, created the namecheck.txt, created the description.txt, added server.cs added sounds..
But when I try playing them after starting server, they appear but don't play any sound. Did I type anything wrong?

Suggestions & Requests / Resident Evil 2 Playertype

Last year I bought and downloaded RE2 on my PS3, I finally got back into it this past week and I've been facinated about how fun that game was.
At first the controls were annoying in tell I got the hang of it..
Could someone create a RE2 styled player type that supports the following:

Third person only.
Can move forward, standard speed. (keybind W).
Can move backwards, maximum speed: 5 (keybind S).
Can't move Left or right, instead pressing (A) will turn player left, while (D) will turn player right.
Can't move mouse left or right to look but, can look up and down with the mouse to aim at AI/ players below or above them.
Can't Jump or crouch.
Maybe a sprinting function using the RMB or the LSHIFT key..


Would this function right? Like is this possible to be created for BL? Would someone be willing to give their time and make it?
But if this was created it would go great with 2D camera events and zonebricks for any zombie map anyone wants to use this for, thats just if someone creates this..

Modification Help / What is the standard speed of default playertypes?

Hi, I've been trying to figure out the number of the "Player_Nojet" or "Player_standard" but there doesn't seem to be a code in the .cs file..
I am editing another playertype and I want to replace this quick speed which is "15" to the normal run speed. Please help.

The code is this: "maxForwardSpeed = 18;"
What number should I change it to?
