Games / Best Moments in Video Games?
« on: February 24, 2017, 11:23:16 PM »
What are (in ur opinion) the best moments in a video game youve played

i'd say my top one is at the end of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, when this cutscene plays:

it shows the monsters you fought throughout the game, except this time it shows them behaving peacfully and calmy. It shows how nature isnt bad or good, it just is, and that it can be beautiful. As humans, it's up to you to interact and coexist in this world of monsters, the world you love.

Off Topic / rant about ur skool
« on: February 22, 2017, 01:54:34 PM »

I hate my school so much. Today i had to skip 3rd hour (honors precalc) to record an event for the school news channel and for some reason the event wasnt going on. I went to the front office and asked them if the event got cancelled or something and they didnt know so they sent me to ask another person who didnt know so that person sent me to find another person who also didnt know what happened to the event. It just vanished. On top of that, today was an early release to classes were very short, so by the time i got through the front office there wasnt even enough time left of 3rd hour to make it worth returning to. I missed it for no reason and now I have no idea how to do the homework and have to go for tutoring tomorrow. Thats not even the worst of it, my friend hadnt had a math teacher all first semester because the real teacher quit so the school kept hiring random substitutes who couldnt teach at all, and now the teacher is some lady who almost cant speak english and just gives everyone points for showing up. the school is (supposedly) rated A but I cant see it at all, its trash. This year has just been one mistake after another.

edit: forgot to mention the schools also overcrowded so they have to make another building (which wont be done until ive graduated)

Games / ClubPenguin Shutting down March 29
« on: January 30, 2017, 06:37:56 PM »
thanks to bomb kirby for telling me this on steam

As you know, over the past few years, we’ve been hard at work developing an entirely new Club Penguin experience for mobile. With this next chapter, we will be launching an amazing new product, Club Penguin Island, that offers a uniquely penguin experience, with new features and gameplay, making it more fun than ever.

As part of the launch of Club Penguin Island in March, we will be transitioning to an entirely new platform, and, we’ve made the decision to discontinue the current Club Penguin game on desktop and mobile devices on March 29, 2017.

Off Topic / wacom intuos wont work with gimp
« on: January 23, 2017, 10:55:28 PM »
usually when i open up gimp and use my intuos, gimp starts out with the pen set to Pressure Opacity, and I can drag the canvas around with the pen's right-click. But now for some reason it starts out with the pen being set to Basic Simple and when I try to drag the canvas, a circle just appears around where the pen is on the screen.

Drama / A Typical Tabby Slime's Fortwars Server (ID: 36271)
« on: January 21, 2017, 05:06:52 PM »

I found a fortwars server with a decent population. I join and spawn in, I don't see any rules posted anywhere and /rules does nothing so I guess there were no rules? Later someone named SuperSonicSpeedster joined the server and was instantly perma banned for having a sonic name. Honker Donker tells the host that he is being a badmin, and they tell him to shut up. Later, the host randomly cleared all bricks with no warning given. People were very upset at losing their bases ant not getting a chance to save, and the host simply ignored them and said "resetting... Now pretend the past server didn't happen". People continued to be upset. Finally, the host changed the name to "NORULESLMFAO" (so i guess there really were no rules rip) and I'm not even sure what happened afterwards, he loaded some sort of spammy rocket dm and started telling people to vote on a new host. I left.

Don't join this server.

Games / Microsoft cancels Platnium Game's Scalebound
« on: January 10, 2017, 03:37:55 PM »

What they said:
After careful deliberation, Microsoft Studios has come to the decision to end production for "Scalebound." We're working hard to deliver an amazing lineup of games to our fans this year, including "Halo Wars 2," "Crackdown 3," "State of Decay 2," "Sea of Thieves" and other great experiences.

Footage of the game:
e3 2016:
e3 2014:

Apparently this was/is Hideki Kamiya's dream game, and he's always wanted a game where dragons were a companion instead of an enemy. He was originally going to make this a long time ago, but instead made Bayonetta.

To me, I'm disappointed, and was looking to play this. Although the main character Drew (guy with headphones) seemed annoying, I was looking forward to seeing how the storyline developed him and gradually made him more likable and heroic. I also just want more dragon-riding games :(

edit: oh also, when asked about who owns the IP to the game now, MS did not say. They probably still have it though

Games / Games that unexpectedly got scary
« on: January 08, 2017, 03:38:58 PM »
post moments games you've played that unexpectedly got scary.

for me, it was Rayman 2 TGE.

The first moment it get's scary is when you go to find a cure for your friend Clark, who is in critical condition. He tells you to go to a place called The Marshes of Awakening, and confront someone named Jano. He says that Jano has the entrance to a place that serves as a sort of trial of worthiness, and if you pass it, you will be given an elixir that will save Clark.

It starts out sort of spooky but not exactly terrifying:

You encounter Jano's minions here, who if eat you if you get too close:

later in the end, you confront Jano, who suddenly begins chasing you saying "Your journey ends here!" AND LOOK AT THIS:

afterwards the game takes a break from the scary stuff, until you reach a new level called The Canopy. It starts out a calm forest, but as soon as you take a few steps forward, the game throws a completely new enemy at you - a giant spider that ambushes you and THIS music starts playing.

this is the only scary part of the level

next, we have the sanctuary of stone and fire. Most of the time it's just an old temple kind of thing, with lava running through it and several enemies youve seen before, but one particular area in it is a cave, and there you face this thing:

It only comes out when you have your back turned, so as a little kid this thing was the stuff of nightmares

The final scary part of the game is the level "Tomb of the Ancients". Now, the first thing you notice about the level is the creepy music. Next, you go out and are greeted by TWO MORE GIANT SPIDERS

Next, you see there's some weird liquid surrounding the platform you're on, it appears to be oil with tons of bones floating in it. Oh, and the walls and floor are sometimes made of gravestones

another spooky thing I found in the level as a kid was the grave yard encountered during it. The graves have mummified remains of Robot pirates, but the thing that creeped me out the most as a kid, was the fact that the robot pirates only came to the main character (rayman)'s planet in the beginning of the game, so that means that something killed them and wrapped them up rather recently. not to mention that there are a few chests int he grave yard with SKELETON ARMS THAT PULL YOU IN:

And there's also a few robot pirates still functioning that patrol the area, and if you defeat them, and the replay the level later on, they are replaced by zombie versions of themselves:

And finally, we encounter the creepiest enemy in the game, the zombie chicken:

This is a blue-eyed one, which actively stalks the player

This is one without eyes, which charges at the player

these guys both sometimes rise out of the ground, or simple fade into existence in dark areas

when they move they make weird squirming sounds like a barrel full of worms :(

oh also there was a room in one level with tons of bouncing eyes for some reason

Off Topic / Does "walking away" solve cyberbullying?
« on: December 15, 2016, 10:08:07 PM »
I saw people talking about it in that nix drama and wanted to talk about it but it was kinda offtopic so now im here.

my response to INH:
Just "walking away" does not solve every problem you come across on the internet. Plus, doing so if anything just allows the trolls and starfishs to get away scott-free, along with continuing to do it behind his back.
I disagree with this, you can end the problem by going to another website and forgetting about it. Sticking around and trying to argue with random people over the internet just seems silly and a waste of time. You "win" by leaving and not bothering with them. If you know you weren't doing anything wrong then you have no reason to give them any attention. Don't listen to people who have nothing right to say. And maybe it's just me but who cares if they get away with it? What do they really get in the end - five minutes of looking cool to other random people? They really just use up their time for something that's useless. They "lose" every time with this. Although if they somehow get a hold of personal info to use against you or find a picture of you and shame your appearance than i can definitely understand being hurt by that.

Off Topic / dumb people at your school
« on: December 14, 2016, 07:20:48 PM »

there's this girl at my school who makes literally no sense, in gov we did a thing were 9 of us are elected as supreme court justices, and one was the leader justice. We could nominate ourselves and then the class would vote on if we would stay or be denied the position. I nominated myself cuz it sounded fun, and when people voted for me she told the class to vote for me because she thought I was funny.

After all the judges were appointed (myself included) she started ranting about how there were no female judges and that we absolutley had to have one, but she didnt even nominate herself so she really had no room to complain. Later on, my friend was appointed as the leader of the justices and she started ranting about how he only got the position because he was the oldest and had "age privilege" (he actually got it because he's very smart and everyone knew it), when she herself voted for me just because she thought I was funny. So I guess in her eyes people are allowed to get things for being funny but not for being the oldest, neither of which are things that should entitle someone to something but she choses to cherry pick certain ones i guess?

Oh also she said I remined her of cheese wheels because my last name has the word wheel in the middle. Ok then?

what dummies does ur skools have

you turn my floppy disk into a hard drive

Help / blockland minimizes whenever i click something in steam
« on: November 12, 2016, 08:39:56 PM »
ok so i was playing blockland and i opened steam with shift + tab, i tried clicking on someone in my friends list but it just made the game minimize. I opened it again and this time i stretched the friends list box out, and that seemed to fix it, but when i clicked on anything that wasnt a button (just empty space) it minimized again. anyone else get this?

was on resonte's sonich-ish platformer thing, and whenever a brick fakekilled everyone on the server except resonte would have everything turn white, or black if they had shaders on:

Off Topic / On the subject of joke topics/add-ons
« on: October 21, 2016, 11:30:42 PM »
orignally started here:

I wanted to continue the discussion but I feel a topic is better for it than a post in gamemodes. We all know about joke topics, whether it be the occasional gallery topic about a single brick or an add-on that only does one minor thing, but what do you think about them. Should they be locked by an admin, do they really matter that much, etc

I think that yeah they can be dumb, but most of the time they just fizzle out and the section they were posted in continues to receive new, more quality topics. There isn't really any loss or negatives about them to make them a real problem. At times they can even be actually funy, like that one gallery post that someone (ipquarx?) made about nal living in a 2x4 brick, or that silly chicken gamemode that pecon made

Off Topic / Does anyone else not trust courts/judges
« on: October 21, 2016, 05:17:48 PM »
ok so for the longest time i've distrusted judges and courts in general, because I've heard lots of stories of things like robbers breaking in through a window, cutting themselves on the glass, sueing the homeowners, and winning. I also watched a youtube video where 2 girlscouts knocked on a woman's door and for some reaosn the woman had a panic attack and sued the girls and won. Is anyone else like this?
