Inspiring Blockland since 2007.

The Brothers of the Brick is a well-rounded group of individuals who take pride in building and good friends. This clan is for builders with moderate to high level experience, and for those who wish to devote time to learning new construction techniques and becoming a better builder, as well as a better Blocklander. We are mainly geared towards theme building, but we are very open to suggestions

We like experienced members, but we are accepting newer players, as long as they are respectful and mature. We are mainly looking for people who have experience with building and can show us something unique or novelty for an application.

Requirements to join

An application is required. Go figure.

The application can be anything you have built recently. We are not very particular, as long as the build shows some effort and form.

As mentioned above, we are looking for unique styles of building. Therefore, we will not set a brick maximum or minimum. But please, do not make your application very small.

Those who choose not to follow them will be warned, suspended or expelled from the clan.

Take your arguments elsewhere.
If you are often belligerant or enjoy arguing with people, then do NOT join this clan. This is not a debate. Do not lie to yourself, and do not lie to us. You know who you are.

Don't annoy others.

Admin
Admin is given to members of BotB. Abuse it and you will be de-admined. Depending on how serious the offense is, abusing admin is possible grounds for expulsion.

Application Votes
Right now, everyone in the clan is allowed to say yes or no to applications. I will give the outstanding vote based on the votes of the players.

Please post your Name, BL_ID, and applications below if you would like to join the brotherhood. We are taking new members into careful consideration.

The price is good but the hardware doesn't seem that great. It's a 60 dollar processor with a 50 dollar motherboard.

UPDATE:

I quit working on the cathedral for a while because of school but today i decided to finish it, so here it is. Comments welcome.

I built this on the RotB server. It's a WIP but i figured i'd post to show progress. If you want to see it up close it's on HPRC's RotB dedicated.

The interior is bland but that is probably the last thing i will work on.

Off Topic / The ultimate guide to being a blockhead!
« on: July 23, 2008, 03:48:14 AM »
We all see them, we all know they exist, and we all know they are quite possibly the most annoying things in the Blockiverse. Here is the official guide to being a blockhead!

Chapter 1: Starting Blockland

Section 1: Picking a name
Always remember that a name is the most creative thing you can come up with, so why not just keep it as Blockhead4892? It's perfect! It's cute, it's literal, and it's catchy, so what's not to love about it? I mean it's not like theres 100 other people named blockhead. That would be a strange coincidence!

Section 2: Creating your avatar
Be sure to pick an avatar that is right for you. Most avatars are unique, so you should be different by making this one: Start by selecting a white shirt with red sleeves and add blue pants. Make your skin look peachy and your face have eyebrows. Do not add anything for that would make you look out of the ordinary. Now you have your very own creative style that will truly speak to others and shout, "ME!"

Chapter 2: Building

Section 1: How to build
Now comes what Blockland is all about: Building! You're going to want to select some bricks, but make sure your brick tray doesn't fill up! Save time and finger energy by selecting the 1x1 brick. Now plant them all in a row. Did you know you can stack them? Do this and make a 4 walled structure. It doesn't matter what size it is because you can always piece together a roof to look like epic crap. Top off your lovely house with some default trees and gates and now your done! Share your house with others, but make sure to tell them not to steal it to use it as an app to a clan! That would be sad for you!

Section 2: Cool brick effects
Sometimes bricks can be plain ol' boring, but when the brick is shooting fire, that makes it much more interesting! If thousands of bricks are shooting fire, you'll probably crap your pants from overexcitement! To use this cool function, all you have to do is hit the brick, or thousands of bricks, with your wrench. Now you've got a cool fire effect!

Chapter 3: Online Etiquette

Section 1: First entering a server
Remember that when you go online, the first thing you should do when you come to a server is ask who's there. Don't bother pressing F2 because that takes way more energy than typing a message. When you've realized who's there, that is the time to ask for admin. If you are told the pass, then good for you! If not, ask again. If the host threatens to ban you, that is the time to leave the server and return in a minute to once again ask for admin. Once the server host bans you, you should probably head to another server to see what your other friends are doing.

Section 2: Your trustee's
It's obvious that everyone wants to be trust with you so that you can build and destroy each others bricks. When you arrive at the server, the best thing you can do is send a full trust invite to everyone. People will absolutely love you and you will be instantly popular because you have everybody's trust. Hooray for you! If you are rejected, it is obvious that the person accidently clicked the wrong button, so you should send the trust invite again.

Section 3: Loading your bricks
The cool thing about blockland is that once you have admin on someones server, you can load your own bricks to show-off your creations to others. Once you have figured out that asking for admin doesn't work, you might be able to get a hold of the password if you ask to "loed soemthign rlly kool."

Section 4: Setting spawns
Sure you can build in blockland, but did you know that at the click of a few buttons you can be getting weapons and vehicles to use? That's right! All you have to do is use your wrench on a vehicle or a player spawn (because it absolutely has to be a player spawn to spawn any item). Now drive around in circles and shoot that gun like crazy! There is no chance that you will piss anybody off. Make sure to leave plenty of items and vehicles spawned so that the host can play with them once you leave.

Section 5: Painting stuff
If you want to make your creations fly, you're gonna have to use the paint can. But did you also know that you can paint other people with it? Just walk up to the nearest person you see and paint them the color you want! Ha ha! That was funny! I'm gonna do it again!

Section 6: Creating Minigames
Everyone is always in the mood for a good deathmatch, so press the minigames button in the escape menu and create a minigame with rocket launchers and guns. Invite everyone because surely everyone will want to play your unorganized deathmatch.

Section 7: Server Lag
Sometimes when you and your buddies are having fun in a server, you will get a message at the top of the screen that says, "lag." This means that there is connection delay between the server host and the server clients. You can take action by screaming "LAG!!!" when using the talk command. That should solve the problem immediately.

Chapter 4: Starting Your Own Server

Section 1: Picking a good server name A name should reflect what your server is about, so be sure to name your server the total opposite of what it is!  You will make lots of friends that way.
Addition by Marcem

Section 2: Giving out admin
An admin pass is something that should be kept private, so if you want to be cool, you should admin everybody who comes into your server. If you do it, they will instantly love you and they'll spread the word about you.
Addition by Aphtonites.

Chapter 5: Communicating with others

Section 1: Using the chat function
With the chat function, you can do anything ranging from asking for admin to saying "hi". Make sure to keep in mind that to do either of those, you must press T or a key you have binded to talk.

Section 2: Protecting yourself
Sometimes you'll have a run-in with some nasty folk in Blockland. You've got your reputation and style, as well as your physical appearence to uphold! When someone starts being mean to you, you can get violent and use your hammer on them. Once you've done that, they won't do anything to harm you anymore. The more you do it, the better the message the person will get.

Section 3: You're online grammar usage
You should know atleast how to say "hi", but sometimes you'll need to form semi-coherent sentences to tell others what you want! For example: "Cn i has abdin?" Any intelligent server host will understand that you are asking for admin and will promptly give it to you.

Section 4: Be the best
A Blockhead's gotta remember to be respectful by being better than everyone else. If someone tells some story, exclaim that you've done bigger and better things. He drove a plane through the bedroom window? You did it with a jeep, blindfolded. He had love last night? Pfft, you did that when you were 12! He's built something? Well, your old computer had saves that would blow his mind and singe his eyebrows!

Chapter 6: Clans

Addition by Chrono

Section 1: Joining clans
There are many ways you can get into clans, all easy too. You can make an awesome box house with single layered walls and no windows. Don't forget emitters and lights, those make it much more visually appealing. Submit this as an app to USSR or MotE, and you'll be wanted for clans in no time. Another way to get into these awesome clans is by going into the Titanic server, wait for all the bricks to load, hit esc, and click save. This is not stealing, it is borrowing. This is the best solution to getting into a clan.

Section 2: Making a clan
Everyone can make a clan, but only you can make a good one. Keep your clan topic less than a paragraph, and make sure its about one specific add-on like zombies, something not everyone has in a server. Make clan rivalries, start a war with MotE, and end the war by saying you win when MotE refuses to fight.

Section 3: Getting people to join your clan
People don't want to make an application to get into your clan, just say they have to listen to you and have something like zombie mod and everyone will join. Now you have your own personal army.

Section 4: Managing your clan
If anyone says your clan "steals builds", say they lie and that your clan rebuilt it. If they don't believe you then, say your clan built it with the original owner. If any of your clan members call you a noob, instantly ban them and remove them from the clan, they have no idea what they are talking about. Inactive members are good for the clan, they make it popular because it has more members.

Chapter 7: Modifying your Blockland experience

Section 1: Abridged Version
Advanced Blockhead's know how to make mod's and add-ons for blockland. First, make all the shapes for your add-ons in Milkshape, just make a few cylinders and export with the name "ub3rgnu". When saving it, make a new folder in add-ons/shapes and call it "BEZT GNU" or "Add-Ons". Then make a folder inside of that, and save your shape to there. Then go to add-ons, copy Weapon_Rocket Launcher.cs and put it in your new folder, after that, open it with Wordpad and use the "Replace..." button to find "uiName". Change the part that says "Rocket L." to whatever you want. Then find "shape:" and change "RocketLauncher" to "ub3rgnu", and save. Now upload the .cs to Rapidshare (It's the best upload site around, everybody loves it!) and then upload the .dts. Ignore everybody that tells you to put them together, that's stupid. Now copy the links and post it in any section but Add-ons. Don't forget your topic name, make it something non descriptive, like "gun" or "hi". People will be more tempted to look at it that way. There! You're done! If you want to, post the link to your thread in as many topics as you want.

Section 2: Modifying Blockland (Full version)
Addition by Space Guy

One of the large features of Blockland is the ability to modify it to do anything you like, from making new weapons, vehicles or scripts. Here are some instructions for Blockheads!

Weapons:
Go to Add-Ons and copy the "Weapon_Rocket Launcher.cs" file. This is your base. Open it in your favourite text editor. Something like Notepad++ works very well, as this replaces everything at the end of lines with unreadable junk, protecting your brand new weapon from nasty people stealing it and copying your ideas.
To start with, you'll want to edit the weapon and make it original:
- Search for 'damage'. The first thing you'll find is 'damageRadius', then 'radiusDamage'. Set these to a large number, preferably in the thousands. Remember, the player's HP is 20,000 so you'll want your weapon to deal at least half of this to be powerful.
- Look for "colorShift" and change the numbers there to "0.100 0.500 0.250 1.000", which will make the weapon a dark green colour.
- You'll also want the weapon to have a different shape - try changing the "shapeFile" parts to "./shapes/rocketLauncher.dts". This is a good model, as it looks like a cannon and works very well.
- Look for "uiName" and change it to whatever you like. Choose a good name, like "mEGACANNON" or "XZ32-118" (technical and stuff is very cool) to make your weapon recognisable these when sorting through lists.
- To make the file smaller, try removing some of the semicolons as these are pretty useless and take up space in the file. This helps people download it better.
Save this as "Copy of Weapon_Rocket Launcher.cs".

Distributing Your Weapons
Create a new topic in Decals & Prints (the correct place to post scripted Add-Ons), called "MAI 1ST WEP: MEGA GNU". The capital letters will get it recognised easily. Write a good description of your Add-On, such as "1st gun dont flam plz", then use the Attach buttons on your post to attach Copy of Weapon_Rocket Launcher.cs. A screenshot isn't needed, they take ages to do anyway. Wait ten minutes, then post "bump" in the topic if no-one's responded yet. This pushes your topic back to the top of Decals & Prints, which will make people more likely to post in it. Keep doing this until someone responds.

That's all you need to know! Now you can run around blockland knowing just what to do when the opportunity comes! You'll be cooler than Wesley Willis singing "Rock n' Roll McDonalds" in a Manhattan McRestaurant. Good luck to you and happy building!

PLEASE NOTE:This forum post was intended to be a joke and i do NOT encourage any replication of the actions listed above in any Blockland server.
