Games / Killing Floor & Red Orchestra 2 guest passes
« on: November 02, 2012, 02:12:07 AM »
As the title says, I have 2 of the former and 3 of the latter, anyone who wants one gets one, just post your steam username here so I can send you it.

I'm not expecting some big rush here, almost everyone has KF and RO2 is an acquired taste but whatever, it's better than letting them sit in my inventory for the next six years.

Edit; One more Killing Floor pass left, I'm going to bed so the first person to post here asking for it will get it when I wake up, I ain't doing any raffle stuff here

Gallery / Unfinished House
« on: September 25, 2012, 05:37:28 AM »
I decided to post pictures of a house I worked on after the S&S update, the construction of the house itself is finished, but the furnishing is not and I doubt I will ever get around to finishing it, this was my first time building since around v8 and I tried to give this house the look of somewhere that people lived.
The reason I decided to post images of it was to get feedback on what I did do in an attempt to find out which parts I could improve upon in the future, I do not think I will ever complete this due to several personal problems with the build itself and some issues with the environment settings that I cannot be bothered to tweak until they look right.

Ratings out of 10 are allowed but I would much prefer actual criticism and advice, thanks.

Overview - Angle 1

Overview - Angle 2

Combined decking and patio area

Foyer

Dining area

Kitchen (and my pet snowflake)

Living Room/Lounge

These images are all of the ground floor, the second floor consists of three rooms, the bathroom, the office and the bedroom, none of which are furnished or lighted.
That is all I have to show and this concludes what is probably my only gallery thread in five years of being here, I hope my design choices didn't make you gouge out your eyes too bad and I'd appreciate any advice on how not to make you do that with the appearance of my builds, thanks

Works nicely as dramatic/sad ambiance.
There is some crackling in the audio, but that seems to be a part of the song, this thing's pretty old.

Roughly 45 seconds long.

(Had to upload it somewhere, it was a whole 7 KB's too big to attach)

Edit; I looked everywhere for a place for people to listen to it before they download, the only one I could find is on Grooveshark.

Music / Song not displaying in the music brick GUI
« on: November 14, 2010, 01:43:04 AM »
I'm trying to get a song to work, and I have everything done properly, it's .ogg, it's mono, it's got a 16bit sample rate and I've replaced all spaces with underscores and removed special characters from the name and I can enable it in the start server menu, but when I get in game it doesn't show in the music brick GUI's dropdown menu.

Anyone know what's wrong here?

Games / Dwarf Fortress (New Topic)

GAME INFO

Quoted from the Dwarf Fortress website at http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/

Dwarf Fortress is a single-player fantasy game. You can control a dwarven outpost or an adventurer in a randomly generated, persistent world.

Although Dwarf Fortress is still in a work in progress, many features have already been implemented.

The world is randomly generated with distinct civilizations spanning over 1000 years of detailed history, dozens of towns, hundreds of caves and regions with various wildlife.
The world persists as long as you like, over many games, recording historical events and tracking changes.
Command your dwarves as they search for wealth in the mountain.
Craft treasures and furniture from many materials and improve these objects with precious metals, jewels and more.
Defend yourself against attacks from hostile civilizations, the wilderness and the depths.
Support the nobility as they make demands of your populace.
Keep your dwarves happy and read their thoughts as they work and relax.
Z coordinate allows you to dig out fortresses with multiple levels. Build towers or conquer the underworld.
Build floodgates to divert water for farming or to drown your adversaries... and don't forget the magma!
Surgery, sutures, splints, crutches and more: care for your wounded dwarves instead of leaving them to fend for themselves.
Much much more...
Play an adventurer and explore, quest for glory or seek vengeance.
Meet adversaries from previous games.
Recruit people in towns to come with you on your journey.
Explore without cumbersome plot restrictions.
Seamlessly wander the world -- up to 197376 x 197376 squares total -- or travel more rapidly on the region map.
Accept quests from the town and civilization leaders.
Retire and meet your old characters. Bring them along on an adventure with a new character or reactivate them and play directly.
Z coordinate allows you to move between twisting underground caverns and scale structures, fighting adversaries above and below.
The combat model uses skills, body parts, individual tissues, material properties, wrestling, charging and dodging between squares, bleeding, pain, nausea, various poison effects and much more.
A dynamic weather model tracks wind, humidity and air masses to create fronts, clouds, rain storms and blizzards.
Over two hundred rock and mineral types are incorporated into the world, placed in their proper geological environments.
Add new creatures, weapons, plants, metals and other objects via modifiable text files.
Extended ASCII character set rendered in 16 colors (including black) as well as 8 background colors (including black).

Off Topic / Odd .exe file in my Local Settings\Application Data
« on: April 13, 2010, 01:34:20 PM »
Wtf is ekhnlq.exe? It has a few .dat files along with it but I have no idea what it's for... Apparently it's in my startup processes.

It's not a hidden file so if it's a virus it's not very good at doing it's job, can anyone else tell me if they have this file or if they know what it's for? I'm running XP if it makes any difference

Games / Changing the Resoloution in Source Games
« on: March 23, 2010, 06:34:37 PM »
So I want to play a source game (Zombie Panic: Source) in window mode, the pre-defined resoloutions for windowed mode are terrible so I want to set it manually, Hao2Do?

I've checked the .cfg file inside the game folder but I can't see which lines are for the height and width of the game screen or even if it's possible using the .cfg file, any help is appreciated and thanks.

Off Topic / Steam crashes on loadup

You lot seem to be rather proficient in fixing problems with Steam, so here it goes.
When I load steam up it crashes while it's connecting to my account, I have restarted my Pc and I have repaired Steam from the installer file, what else is there for me to try and do?

The last thing I installed was Zombie master, but I see no reason why that would break it since Steam was working a few hours ago, thanks for any help.
