Off Topic / Gameplay Rape
« on: January 21, 2013, 04:07:18 AM »
I sold my old computer the other day and am now waiting for my CPU to arrive in the mail. In the meantime, I've gotten "comfortable" with my old faithful white 2007 Intel MacBook.

I used to play Blockland on this during mid 2008 to Jan 2011, it coped alright but was pretty bad with brick counts over 15k during the later years.

Blockland has changed a lot since and I put Snow Leopard on the old laptop for fun. Now it runs BL like stuff.

I think using this old laptop will make me appreciate my new gaming computer build even more. It'll be far more powerful than any computer I've owned to date.

I'm used to using low-mid end PC laptops, and the odd Mac, so I've often had to "make-do" with low quality gaming. Finally I've had the financial ability to purchase my own gear, though I've certainly appreciated and enjoyed the few computers I was gifted throughout childhood and the teenage years up to this point.

I thought it might be nice to remind yourself of how decent your current computers are, perhaps remind yourself of gaming horror stories on stuffty hardware, or if you are using a cheap computer, ponder what you might end up with in the not-so-distant-future.

My "official" Blockland apartment. :D

Part of Rem's dedicated Multi-Ops community server.

This is located in the hotel / apartment building, room 6I. I requested a space and then designed and built it from scratch, dividing it into 3 spaces and using a more traditional compact-apartment layout.

Source of cheap laughs, confusing boners, and getting dirt on people has been locked.

The abortion failed, it has returned.

Gallery / Hard Drive (Default Events) *New* [Anatomy Video]
« on: December 25, 2012, 12:58:01 AM »

The MicroBlock "Precision" Hard Drive is a system that stores information through a cable. It turns relays, into colors, into projectiles, into relays.

In other words, using a "series" style cable (apparently) that we call the "HIO connector" interface, this build is able to use relays to interpret information to and from a build.

It is Blockland's first and only default events, named brick free, standalone hard drive. Thats right, no event mods and no named bricks. Just thoughtful design.

It is one of many components I hope to develop. Imagine if one day many people develop their own components using events, with custom motherboards, and we can exchange hardware? This is an exciting start.

This will serve only to advance eventers. Feel free to ask questions. This might be a little bizarre for some.

Features write, read, and erase (prong reset).

0-2000 MS write speed
0-45500 MS read speed
0-5000 MS erase speed

15 memory blocks with 8 bits
"4 pin" HIO port & connector
"2 pin" HDA port (rev 2)

Compatible with HIO octadecimal devices.

Watch the video below for a visual and verbal explanation of how IcyGamma's default hard drive design works. Interested in making a build with an HIO port? Wait up for the download & guide soon.

Download available, however there is no system to use it. Download this if you are curious and are prepared to stimulate it with relays yourself. A dev guide is coming soon that tells you how to use it.

Difference between models

Rev 3 (Late January 2013) - Transparent, orange, and case-less versions (non-stone case)
Rev 3 (January 2013) - 45500 MS "secure" read speed, 1x HDA port
Rev 2 (December 2012) - 20000 MS read speed, 1x HDA port, obsolete by upgrade
Rev 1 (December 2012) - 20000 MS read speed, no HDA port, obsolete by fault

Its been five years since the first events and bum-basic computer builds, and IcyGamma is disappointed at how nobody is being fresh and original. The computer clans and hobbyist eventers are putting out alarming basic, pseudo-bogus computers that are almost as bad as the stuff we put out in v9. Uggh icky.

IcyGamma is on a mission. To develop new mechanisms using entirely default events and no named bricks, solving problems through design.

Ask a player to event a brick that kills you when you walk on it. A joe blog might use onplayertouch > kill. Ask a smart eventer, and he'll develop a system that fires bullets to kill the player when they walk through. The difference? One relies on an synthetic function to get the desired effect. The other alters the environment to cause death.

In other words, instead of bullstuff players with a facade, I'm making builds that run using mechanisms crafted using default events only. No named bricks, no VCE-- nothing.

The positives? Creating curious builds, improving logical thinking through design, and maybe even developing "practical" builds that could enable new novelties in servers. Icy is out to prove default events are superior on their own.

Step one. Build a hard drive for "Project Intranet".

Thanks to the following people for helping by reporting bugs, developing builds with the device, or contributing to this field of building using my events as a starting point.

Off Topic / THQ is bankrupt :o
« on: December 19, 2012, 05:51:12 PM »
Struggling publisher THQ has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and is selling its assets.

The sale includes all four of THQ's studios - Relic, Vigil Games, Volition, and THQ Studio Montreal - as well as all games currently in development.

THQ will continue to operate during the sale period; all studios will remain open and development will also continue as normal.

Games the company is currently developing include Metro: Last Light, Company of Heroes 2, South Park: The Stick of Truth, Saints Row 4, WWE '14, Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III, Warhammer 40,000: Dark Millennium, Homefront 2, and WWE Brawl.

General Discussion / Duplicator firerelay rotator roken?
« on: December 11, 2012, 07:27:06 AM »
I've noticed the new duplicator can switch the directions of emitters accurately, but when it comes to the event "firerelayNorth" it can't rotate it correctly. It'll make it go west. I then set it to "firerelaySouth" which would correctly rotate to East, but if rotated again would fire the wrong way corresponding to the direction the emitter correctly changed to.

Hao2Fix or has there already been an updated? Its really forgetin' irritating.

Off Topic / Wtf really loud soda
« on: December 07, 2012, 04:03:23 AM »
So we had this bottle of Pepsi in our kitchen pantry and one day I heard this really loud clicking sound. then it started to sound like a cat purring, I stuff you not. I figured out it was the Pepsi bottle, it was unopened but it sounded like air was escaping.

So anyway I decided to open it, a little suspicious if it wasn't air sealed. I poured a glass and it is constantly fizzing loudly, its so loud it is distracting watching TV.

Obvo all carbonated drinks fizz, but this is really loud and it just keeps going and going.

Wtf is going on? Is it possessed by the ghost of a Pepsi factory worker who fell into the machine?
