Off Topic / 10 years + 3 days

10 years ago (and 3 days) I signed up to the BLF. I dunno what compelled me to do it as a wee lad but I've stuck around since then.

It's kinda strange to think I signed up here when I was 10 and here I am at 20. Half my life has been spent here. I mostly just lurk nowadays and I've seen a fair amount of change. Some good, some bad. But still, 10 years is crazy. I still see some of the other old timers around so that's pretty cool coo

Right we got distracted doing our assignment and were trying to work this out. I looked it up and didn't find a simple explanation, so here's hoping some people in the future find this thread and find a great resource.

Let's use this basic family tree for a family household:


If Child B had love with their Mother and had a child labelled Child D, where would it go in the tree?

There are loads of classic/iconic games I've never ever played. I've never even played any of the original Mario Bros games or the original doom games. I'd like to compile a list of stuff that people categorize as "must play" so that I can play through them, and others can too.

When giving games, please provide it's genre, platform, and release date. (Original release date in the case of remakes.)

Todo: Alphabetize games, Different heading colours (Maybe graphics if someone feels like drawing some up), wikipedia links to every game, or would purchase pages be better?

I'm going to university in September to do software engineering, so I need a laptop to do work on. Since I'm living away from home, I'd like it to be able to handle some gaming as well.

Requirements:
- 4GB RAM
- Runs cs:go at decent settings & framerate

Games / Break_In [Kickstarter]

My friend has started a kickstarter for his game Break_In. He has just created a basic concept demo for it for the purpose of the kickstarter. All objects, menus, GUIs, etc, are placeholder.

I am not directly involved with the development of this game, only testing.

I am promoting this here because I would like to see this game succeed and become a reality. All information can be found on the kickstarter page, but feel free to send him questions. I will answer whatever I can about it, though.

General Discussion / It's been a while, looking to get back into playing this regularly.

I haven't really played blockland properly in about a year or so. Occasionally I come on to work on a build but then I stop again for a few weeks. The little livestreams I did helped me stay in the game for a bit, but then I realised there weren't many fun servers.

So it's been a year, tell me what servers I should check out, what gamemodes are fun, addons to richard around with, all that jazz.

What is extra life?
Extra life is a game related event where people do 24 hour livestreams to raise money for hospitals that treat sick children. Although individuals do this all the time, this is a big method of trying to do it simultaneously. More groups and publicity yields better results.

Why should I watch?
Last year, Team7200's extra life stream was a huge success, many viewers had lots of fun and had lots of compliments to give. We are hoping to bump up the entertainment value so everyone has an even better time. By having a stream we don't take seriously and donation rewards about making fools of ourselves, we're sure this can be accomplished.

We also have plenty of giveaways to hand out. Not just mediocre, cheap indie games, but copies of Payday 2, its DLC and even physical items. The top prize is a Payday 2 poster signed by Overkill themselves.

Off Topic / Framerate drops when streaming

When I stream, at random, the FPS will drop to about 10/20 for a few seconds and then return to normal. When this happens, the CPU temp decreases and the load increases, while the GPU temp stays the same and its load decreases.

This only happens when streaming and it didnt happen a few months ago, I dont know what the problem is. I used to be able to stream no problem.

Specs:
AMD FX-8120 @ 3.1GHz
16GB DDR3 RAM @ 1600MHz
AMD R9 280X
750W CiT Gold PSU
Nothing is over/under clocked

Games / Trying to play some games takes down my internet

When I open the community server browser in cs:go or gmod, or the server list in bohemia games (arma 2, arma 2: OA, DayZ mod, DayZ standalone) and try to connect to a server the connection fails. I then close the game and go to chrome and try to open a webpage and I get the "page failed to load" or "cannot connect to the internet" and thus, cant load any pages. However, I can still send and receive steam messages most of the time, but steam occasionally goes down too. It's not just chrome, spotify and even mobile apps fail to work when this happens. It lasts for a minute or 2 then goes back to normal, until I try to connect to another server

This has been going on for a few weeks now and im sick of waiting for it to pass

I made this topic before, but it's too old. I stopped thinking about it but i thought about it again, looked around and cant find any

I want a desk that is black and is a corner desk. All the ones i've seen are too long at one side and it's annoying. I dont have much room in the corner i'm in. I made this diagram to show what shape the desk must be in, and the length of each side
