Off Topic / Motorola Semiconductor Tie Clip
« on: December 16, 2012, 12:57:54 AM »

I got this from my grandma at my birthday party yesterday. It's one of the very first semiconductors ever made turned into a tie clip. Apparently my great grandpa worked for Motorola back in the day. Each one of the workers got one of these tie clips. I tried looking it up to see how many there are and that sort of stuff, but couldn't find anything. I just wanted to show it off because I think its really cool. I doubt it, but does anyone else have one of these?

Off Topic / Did embarq set up a curfew or something?
« on: July 14, 2012, 07:03:25 PM »
The last few days I've been staying up until midnight, and I'd probably stay up later, but every night around this time my internet goes out. The router says everything is fine, but I can't do anything on my computer or phone except go to the router's page. The next day it's always fine. Its quite a pain in the ass. If someone could shed some light on this that would be great.

Off Topic / Help me with creating an equation
« on: May 19, 2012, 01:21:08 AM »
Before you ask, no, this isn't for homework. It's for my game.

I've been trying to make an equation for the past hour or so probably and I haven't had any luck. I even tried asking several of my steam friends but I've had no luck. It's pretty difficult to make, but I'm pretty sure that its possible. I came to the forums hoping someone would be able to make it.

The equation needs to be arranged as: Z = X + Y + or * other stuff.
It needs to work for the sets: (1,-1,180), (-1,-1,90), (-1,1,0), (1,1,-90) where (X,Y,Z).

If you want me to elaborate, just ask.

A while ago the government started up this petition submission thing on their website. Any petition that manages to obtain enough signatures will be looked over by congress. This petition service has been used to protest sopa and pipa among other things. Right now there is a petition to remove "In God we trust" and replace it with America's old motto: "E Pluribus Unum" which is latin for "Out of many, one".
To sign the petition you have to make an account if you haven't already, but its one of the shortest signup forms I've seen. Just make sure you use a valid email address because you have to activate the account.

Here's the link: https://wwws.whitehouse.gov/petitions/#!/petition/remove-god-we-trust-legal-tender/54Bdy0R5

The petition started today and it already has 2769 petitions and its steadily rising, but we still need to reach 25,000 for it to be looked at by congress.

Putting this here because nobody's reading it on the site:
Currently, all green backs have the words In God We Trust printed on them. This ubiquitous statement has come to be known as our national motto, circa 1956, when it replaced E Pluribus Unum(Translates to 'Out of many, one'). This change was made during the cold war, when fear and propaganda were at the height of dissemination, and serves only to divide us as a nation.

A great many citizens of the United States follow non-theistic or poly-theistic faiths, or are simply atheist, and believe the national governments recognition of a deity to be in violation of the first amendment. As such, we ask that the national motto be restored to E Pluribus Unum and replaced on all green backs.

Why does this matter?
People say that it is to small of a deal to contend, but that same person does not know how to kill a democracy. Let me put it in a simple brown townogy. To kill a democracy is like boiling a frog. If you turn the heat up too quickly, the frog jumps out of the pot. Now, if you are to raise the temperature slowly, the frog will not notice and become vulnerable. If you were to dissolve the separation of the church and state, you would do it by slowly turning up the amount of intrusion that the church had. Now, I'm not saying that there is going to be a religiously controlled government in this country anytime soon, if ever. I'm just saying that this would always going to be a starting point for greater violations of the constitution if someone were to try and practice that.

Creativity / Armament - Second Downloadable Demo Available
« on: December 30, 2011, 04:37:49 AM »

News
A new post on the website.
A new video showing the development of the game thus far.

Intro
I've been working on this game for a while now. I don't work on it every day, so development is slow, but rest assured I will finish it some day.

What is the game going to be like?
RPG focused around a power arm object that allows the wielder to lift more weight than usual.

Story
Not entirely sure

How are you making the game?
I'm using the Unreal Development Kit and Blender.

Well like I said, several times now, I'm not accepting anyone else to help me. Maybe in the future, but I'm not sure. The only way I would accept anyone at this point would be if they were at least 10x better than I am. And if anyone is going to apply, at least show me an example of your work...

You might have seen this topic before. The other one is too old.

Once you download the game and install it there is one thing you have to do for it to run properly. This won't be necessary in the future, but I can't fix it right now.
Anyway, you have to make a shortcut to *INSTALLATIONDIRECTORY*\Binaries\Win32\UDK.exe.
After you make the shortcut, right click it and choose properties. Go to the shortcut tab and in the target section add " ARM-City?Game=Armament.ArmamentGame" after what is already there. Then you can click the shortcut and play!

Controls:
WASD -Move
Left Shift- Sprint
E- Interact(To enter the vehicles)
Space- Jump
Left Click- Shoot
Right Click- Shoulder camera
Mouse Wheel- Goes through weapons(Though I think there's only one right now so that is useless)
F- Wallgrab(The debug lines that appear have to hit a wall for you to grab onto it)

Have fun! Let me know any bugs you find, any suggestions, or anything else you'd like to say about it.
Also please remember that this game is a work in progress in literally every way.

Off Topic / Entire forums requires BLID activation
« on: October 20, 2011, 08:37:37 PM »
I guess I'm the only one who noticed, because there hasn't been a topic about it. Or maybe people have noticed, but they couldn't make a topic, because they weren't activated. Anyway, I opened the Blockland forums the other day and noticed that every section was red. I have always had Blockland, but I never registered my BLID since I only use Off-Topic and Games. I'm not sure why Badspot randomly did this, but it doesn't really matter. I find it strange that you need to register for the AOT forums and even the help forum. I guess people who play the demo don't deserve help.

Games / Diggles - The Myth of Fenris (Like Dwarf Fortress)
« on: September 01, 2011, 09:53:35 PM »

What is it?
Diggles: The Myth Of Fenris is a game released by Innonics on 27 September 2001.[1] The game is a side-scrolling strategy game which is based on a 3D-engine. You are guiding your dwarves, called "diggles" in the English version, "Wiggles" in the German version and "Gnomy" in the Russian version. The dwarves can manufacture tools, weapons, rooms and other advanced manufacturing shops (as part of a moderately large technology tree). You can set up your workshops and rooms in the caves that your dwarves have been digging. Your mission is to dig down and solve quests which contribute to your global quest, which is to chain Fenris, the fiery dog of Odin. You encounter other clans and creatures on the way, some hostile, some not.
Copy pasted from wikipedia
The game is a lot like dwarf fortress. It is different in a few ways though.
1. Its 3d.
2. Not such a steep learning curve
3. Not as much content
4. No updates ever

Does anyone else remember this? I used to play it all the time when I was 8 or so. I'm reinstalling it now.

If you want to play there was a demo at one point and I'm sure you can find it online somewhere. I doubt you can buy it anywhere though.

Off Topic / Looking for a cheap laptop
« on: August 24, 2011, 09:59:24 PM »
I'm going to college this year, in fact in just a few days. So, I need a laptop.

Features:
Under $300
Fast enough for photoshop/flash/blender
At least a pen touch screen, but preferably also a finger touch screen
Small, probably 12 in screen or so
Long battery life. 7+ hours.
100GB+ HDD

I'm not sure if something exists for such a low price, but I'm sure if it does, then someone here will know about it. I may be able to get a little more money but I'm not sure.

If you can't find something in my price range, then just try to get the lowest cost possible. I'll probably be able to work something out as long as its not $1000+.

Intro
I've been working on this game for a couple of weeks. I haven't really started work on the game itself, but I have been making models.

What is the game going to be like?
The game is going to be a third person shooter set in an alternate universe. The alternate universe primarily uses steam power, but recently (a year or 2 ago) a new plasma power has been discovered. The game will have several rpg elements, such as changing equipment, changing hairstyles, making choices, etc.

Story
When the game starts, you are a physical laborer for the company who discovered plasma technology (Atlas). The first mission begins by your boss telling you to go into the storage area and get yourself a power arm. Once you get the arm, you move some boxes around to learn the controls. When you finish, an alarm goes off and something happens that throws the world into chaos.
I don't want to reveal anything else yet.

How are you making the game?
I haven't really decided what engine I'm going to use, but I'm probably going to use Unity 3D.

Off Topic / Help with getting my dad a cell phone
« on: March 01, 2011, 06:35:41 PM »
I know hardly anything about phones since I hardly use them. My dad is looking for a new phone because his current droid's internet slows down a lot randomly. Hes looking for something that has fast internet and fast email. We use verizon if it matters.
