Creativity / New bit of music I made
« on: March 13, 2013, 07:56:26 PM »
I've finally learned how to use Ableton, and whipped this up.

Optic (WIP)

Again, SoundCloud butchered the sound quality, but hopefully not as much as my previous music.

You are encouraged to rate and/or critique. Keep in mind that mastering was messed up by SC and it is in general a WIP.

I exported this at 192000 bps and 32 bits, which takes up 275 MB on my hard drive. And I doubt any of you will be able to hear the audio quality at anywhere near lossless.

Creativity / Ghost's music - come on you guys
« on: September 03, 2012, 02:43:39 PM »
I make music. I'm going to be releasing an album FOR FREE on my Bandcamp on January 1, 2013 and my release schedule is organized through 2014.
I mostly make EDM-ish stuff. Currently running under the name Dr. Dubstep, everything 2013 and later will be under Aether.

Disclaimer: For the most part, I do NOT make dubstep. One or two songs I have that are unreleased are "dubstep-ish", with the wub wub and the drops and the zim zam zoobedy bop. the name Dr. Dubstep is entirely a joke and ironic.

SoundCloud
Bandcamp
YouTube (I use a lot of unreleased music to back my videos, and sometimes I just upload the songs)
Also on my Bandcamp (already running) is an album of songs I made for various YouTube videos that aren't getting released in any main albums. It will be free, and Share-alike, so you can use them for whatever you want.

Back to Law School (final music, Jan 1 EP release)

Higher Class
Westbound - Second Mix
Echo (see Original Music)
three other songs that I'm not going to release until the full album release

Original music:
Echo (WIP)
Veritas (WIP, 2013 release)

Remixes:

Zedd: Spectrum (Dr. Dubstep remix)
Katy Perry: ET (Dr. Dubstep remix) (on YT because Soundcloud butchered it)

Tests/early stuff:

Trance Gate testing
Ableton Live/NI Massive testing

Feel free to rate and critique my work, and I'll be posting a link to a free lossless download of my EP when it comes out.

Creativity / Ghost's 3-panel comics
« on: August 16, 2012, 08:55:33 PM »
I've been making these little comics forEVER. I've been posting them on my blog for a while but nobody reads that and I thought "Why not take ideas from other people?" So I'm posting them here and asking you guys: WHAT TO DRAW NEXT?

The general idea behind these: MSPaint a quick, silly idea in three panels, more often than not making no sense.

So, tell me what to draw. I'll PROBABLY draw ANYTHING.

EDIT: All comics added.

Creativity / Astro A40 tags
« on: March 10, 2012, 07:10:18 PM »
I was getting a new headset because my Crap Trittons broke, and I thought this would be a good opportunity to make a set of A40 tags to go with my new headset.

(qlmaX5 is my Steam and PSN Username)

Also other A40 tags:

Both made in Flash.

What do you think? And does anybody here want a custom design?

Games / did everybody forget about Witcher 2?
« on: December 09, 2011, 09:34:53 PM »
After the release of The Witcher 2, there was a lot of buzz about it for a few months, then I didn't hear anything else about it.
Who still plays Witcher 2, and who thinks this is a game you really have to play to understand?

Games / I got GTA4 and GFWL keeps crashing it
« on: March 25, 2011, 08:45:22 AM »
I know this is a problem a lot of people are having, but I tried everything I could find on the internet and It wouldn't stop.
Before I go any further, not Warez'd. Bought from Steam.

The game opens fine, waits a few seconds, goes into the second intro screen (just the words) then I see the gfwl pane start to appear, and then the game crashes.
I've looked it up, installed the newest GFWL, reinstalled .NET 3.5, installed Windows Live Essentials, and nothing worked. So instead of searching even deeper, I'm asking you guys, because hopefully some of you have had this problem and fixed it.

Gallery / 8-Bit's suburban apartment (AoB Application)
« on: March 08, 2011, 06:04:51 PM »
Just putting this here for everybody to see. Nothing spectacular, just an application. Intended as a small build, but I tested a few things out with it. I know the floor isn't detailed, but look at my bricks! They're great looking!

The front of the apartment. Note the amazing bricks on the bottom.

The mudroom-style area inside. There is a rack of some kind on the left and a window seat on the right.

The kitchen! There's something hanging from the ceiling, a stovetop and a fridge. Also a counter in the center.

The doors leading into the room in the back. One side leads to the stairs, and one door goes under them.

The bedroom/living room area. It's got an NES, PS3, a TV, bed, couch, and a computer in the back. The furniture is supposed to be minimalist. That's what's hip nowadays, right?

a much more flattering picture of the TV and PS3. My TV in real life looks like this.

The Bit-Tek PowerBrick computer. The light on the front scrolls through the colors. Somehow, both this and the last picture caught it while it was blue.

I had a picture of the bathroom, but the ghost brick was in the way. It's not an important room anyway.

So rate, keeping in mind how an apartment this size would look like in real life.

Games / Should I get an NES or 3-in-1 console?
« on: November 27, 2010, 05:29:43 PM »
I have a lot of old games I want to play, but the oldest console I have is an N64. I see a bunch of NESs on eBay from reputable sellers at the $60-or-so mark, up to $100 with games and some accessories.

But, that could get expensive if I want an SNES or other old stuff. I would imagine that something like the Retron-3 would be good for what I want, but I sorta want retro.

So what's better? the NES that is really retro but the pins sometimes mess up and I would need other consoles, or a multi-console system that is top-loading?

Off Topic / Ordered a new pair of headphones Yaey
« on: October 12, 2010, 05:24:18 PM »
I ordered a new pair of headphones because my Sennheiser HD 218s suck.
these I got for $117 including shipping on Amazon, arriving on the 14th (Eastern US time).
These are apparently 1/3 of the price of Monster Beats by Dr. Dre and have better sound quality.
Direct Pic:

These are replacing my Sennheisers (which are over-ear instead of around-ear) and an old pair of Sony monitor headphones (which could NOT swivel 180 degrees and didn't have a very good sound quality) as my mobile pair. My gaming headphones (Roccat Kave yaaay) are staying home because they're a pain to carry around. Also it requires a USB port which is not okay for an iPod.

Discuss great deal on headphones and how overpriced Monster Beats is.

And, as I write this it's in NJ right now. That means that it may even arrive tomorrow instead of Thursday!

Games / I borked My Oblivion save :\
« on: October 10, 2010, 08:35:53 AM »
I was messing around in testinghall while I had the Mage's Guild quests going on, and I was picking up a lot of the stuff so I could hoard it in my house, then I accidentally picket up teh Bloodworm Helm and a little dialogue window popped up saying "I have found the Bloodworm Helm. I need to bring it to Arch-mage Traven immediately. I was on that part of the questline, but when I talk to traven, hen doesn't give me an option to give it to him. What should I do? I'm already the Hero of the Empire, the leader of the Dark Brotherhood, and almost the leader of the thieves Guild.

Should player.completequest <quest ID> work in this so I can continue to rule the world?

Help / I am unable to join dedicated servers
« on: August 24, 2010, 03:21:24 PM »
I was playing on General Jake's dedicated server yesterday, and suddenly I was thrown off for no reason (not a ban, no admins on server) and when I tried to rejoin, it just kept saying "Sending Punch Packet", but I only got that when I tried to join my own server on my Mac.

Why is this happening? :(

Games / Trying to locate a game (located, CHEX QUEST!)
« on: August 20, 2010, 06:12:09 PM »
I'm trying to find a game I saw back in first and second grade. It's the Doom/Daggerfall-style 3D graphics, and it seemed like you were some sort of marine, and you collected armor and helmets to regain health, and you got attacked by big green goo monsters. Instead of normal health, if you got completely covered in goo you died.

Can anybody help me find this game? I don't think it's Wolfenstein or Doom, but I haven't played them that much. Please respond. :(

There was another game, but I remember what that was.

Forum Games / the adventures of Edward Cross! PIRATES!
« on: August 19, 2010, 11:33:16 PM »
now with more Space Station!

The year is XXXX. Your space station has been overrun by pirates and left to rot in space. You must find your way out of the station before it falls apart completely.

but the real question is...

Who ARE you?

>Insert player info

Q&A:

Q: How do you make this??!?!1
A: I use Photoshop Extended CS5. Any paint program that allows you to use a pencil tool and resize while keeping hard edges will work just fine.

Q: What is this first post for?
A: I will update it so it will link to the actual ingame posts.

Games / Iron Snail: Freeware Torque 2D project
« on: August 07, 2010, 11:44:25 PM »
Yay! I'm downloading the Torque Game Builder (also known as Torque 2D) demo so I can get something done this summer, and my first project is a completely free clone of Metal Slug. I have just enough time to use the demo before school starts (30 days :( ) so I might buy it, since the basic version is only $100, unlike the steep $1000 for Torque 3D (which I already own). Once I recreate MS1, I might recreate other versions.

And remember, this will all be distributed for free. I hope to have it as close to the original Metal Slug as I can possibly make it. If anybody has the demo or owns TGB already wants to help out, go ahead. I'll add info as I get along in the project.

By the way, my internet is constantly restarting itself. It's been doing this since before noon (as long as I've been up) and it's messed up TWO attempts to download TGB demo already. I'll need to wait until tomorrow to download it, when I have the time to restart my router.

By the way, I post so late because it's as close to nocturnal as I can be while still being in school. Which I guess is just fine.

Games / I want to play NFS:C...
« on: August 03, 2010, 10:45:44 AM »
But my Mac's SuperDrive is filled with dust and won't read it. I have two serial numbers (the first copy I bought was broken) but I can't use my disc drive. How should I go about this in a way that's legal as long as I have a serial number?
