Forum Games / HIGHBORN – A Text-Based Adventure – [Journey Inland]
« on: February 11, 2018, 12:24:37 PM »
You wake up slowly to the sound of ocean waves crashing against the shoreline and seagulls cawing in the morning breeze. Currently, you are laying upwards on a beach that you do not recognize. The entirety of the previous night is all a blur to you—the last thing you remember is being on a ship before a massive storm threw you overboard. Not only that, you have forgotten who you are, where you were going, and what kind of ship you were sailing. A throbbing pain shoots through the back of your skull as all of these thoughts hit you at once. Perhaps it would be easier to focus on one at a time. What was your name, again?

So, I recently just finished the Mass Effect trilogy (fantastic game series, by the way) for the second time, which started me down this train of thought. Can anyone tell me a movie where humanity has either superior or the same level of technology as the encountered alien species? It seems like in every modern sci-fi movie/series (Transformers, Independence Day, etc.), humanity has to be on the bottom end of the spectrum. I'm not saying that it's never been done (for example, Star Trek and Star Wars had humanity on the same level), but I would love to see it done more often. I just wanted to get this out there and get other people's thoughts on it.

I don't know what to say here...

If you believe in God, or even if you're atheist, please say a quick prayer for my mom. She's having a hard time handling this, and we aren't sure how much time he has left.

Forum Games / Fact or Fiction [GAME]
« on: April 21, 2014, 09:02:21 AM »
Hello everyone! As you may have noticed, I don't post much. That's life. Now, I've just decided to come up with a game in my head and post it here for your enjoyment. It's very simple. In fact, there's probably been more than one of these. It's like True or False. Instead of just telling you what you have to do, I'll just show you an example!

"USER 1: Mt. Everest is located in Russia.
USER 2: Fiction. The Amazon River runs through Brazil.
USER 3: Fact. The..."

And so on, and so forth. Simple, right? However, you have to remember that you have to post both an answer (either fact or fiction) and a statement (whether true or false, doesn't matter). If you're posting off-topic, please let everyone know so we don't get confused and mixed up. Apart from that, that's all I think I have to say on the matter. Let's get started, shall we? And feel free to be creative.

Off Topic / Feeling terrible, need a second opinion...
« on: January 13, 2014, 03:09:18 PM »
Before you ask, yes, I looked up the symptoms on WebMD and got a ton of diseases that I'm fairly certain I don't have. The symptoms I have are: a terrible cough (it's gotten worse in the past day, but I've had it for longer), a headache (which only just recently started as well), and a sore throat. Anyone have any idea what I have? I have to go to school in about an hour and a half (timeline), and it's especially important that I go because I have to take a geometry test. The only thing I could think of is that I have a cold, but I just want to make sure.

Creativity / Short Story
« on: November 23, 2013, 04:36:33 PM »
I just decided to write this in my free time. It's not exactly a short story; if I ever finished it, it would be part of a bigger plot. I thought I might as well get some feedback. Constructive criticism would be helpful.

I opened my eyes slowly as I began to wake up. My head was aching badly, and as I reached up my hand to hold it, I realized that I couldn't move. My arms and legs were strapped down, and breathing was painful. I felt as if my chest was on fire. I lifted my head and glanced around at my surroundings.
I was laying face up on a table, and a bright light shone above me. There was a chair next to the table. The room itself was white and completely empty apart from a few tools and instruments on the walls. In one corner of the room, there was a door with a small mirror next to it. However, there were no windows; it was as if I was trapped inside of a white box.
I looked down at myself. I was wearing dark blue jeans, black shoes, and a black, long-sleeved shirt. Oddly enough, there were no wires or tubes or anything hooked up to me.
Before I could do or notice anything else, the door opened, and a man in a lab coat walked in. He was carrying a clipboard and wearing light blue gloves. Around his neck he wore a face mask. A pair of reading glasses was set on top of his grey, neatly-combed hair. I watched him as he sat down in the chair next to me and set the clipboard down on his lap. He lowered the glasses gently down onto the tip of his nose.
He hastily scribbled something down on the clipboard before looking up at me. "Are you feeling alright?"
I had no idea how to respond. "Wha-"
He cleared his throat. "I asked you a yes or no question."
I waited a moment, listening to the sound of my ragged breathing. "Well, yes, but-"
He raised his hand, stopping me. He wrote down more on the clipboard.
He looked up once more. "Do you know how you got here?"
Here was a question I knew how to answer. "No."
            "What is your name?"
            "I don't know."
The man paused and sighed. "Oh, that's right, they haven't assigned you one yet..."
            "Assigned-"
He stopped me once more. "Those were the only questions that I had for you. I will have more for you later. Enjoy your stay."
The man got up and left the room, taking his clipboard and closing the door behind him. Suddenly, the straps retracted back into the table, and I sat up and rubbed my head. For some reason, it wouldn't stop aching, but the pain in my chest had ceased. After a few seconds, I hopped off of the bed and looked at the various instruments on the walls.
There was one object that looked like a syringe, but it was connected to a tube that was fed into a bag filled with red liquid. I assumed that it was some sort of blood transfusion device. Another object was what looked like a pistol with a hook attached onto the end of it. I didn't even want to know what that was for.
I cautiously tried to open the room door. Locked, of course. I then looked at myself in the mirror. I had short, black hair, and my eyes, just like my hair, were a shade of black. From what I could tell, I had no facial hair. I attempted a small smile. My teeth were perfectly straight, and none of them were missing or crooked.
I sat back down on the table and began to think. Where was I? How did I get here? And, for that matter, WHO was I? I had no memory of my life or my name, as far as I could remember. The man who had been here earlier had mentioned something about me being assigned a name. Was I a patient or some kind of test subject? Was this a hospital or a research facility?
I laid down and closed my eyes. Hopefully, I would be able to find some answers later. But, for the moment, I just needed to wait and rest.
As I slowly began to lose consciousness, the door opened.
The last thing I heard before blacking out was someone saying, "Operation Rebirth has been successful."

            "Swift..."
I opened my eyes. I was in a completely different world - it was grey and overcast, and I was standing in a huge field of dead grass.
"Swift..." the voice called out once more. It had a slightly feminine tone to it, and it seemed to be coming from somewhere up ahead.
Suddenly, a woman materialized out of the mist. She had black, neck-length hair that was done up in a ponytail, and she stared at me with dark brown eyes. She was about my height, if not slightly smaller, and she was wearing some type of black robe. The robe covered everything except for her head. She stood about ten feet away from me.
Before I was able to say something, she spoke. "That is your name, is it not?"
I waited for a moment before answering. "I... don't know my name."
She motioned around with her arm and glanced up at the sky. "Of course you do. We all do."
            I raised an eyebrow. "We?"
She looked back at me. "Yes, we. The Possessed."
            "...Possessed...?"
She took a step forward. "Well, of course, that is what we call ourselves."
Suddenly, many more men and women began to materialize out of the mist. They all wore black robes as well.
She gave me a grin that would have sent a shiver down anyone's spine. "You have been chosen as one of us."
I took a step back. "Why me?"
She took another step forward. "Because you are the result of a government project known as Operation Rebirth. You were their first successful prototype, and so we have chosen you to become one of us."
I crossed my arms. "What exactly ARE you?"
She pulled the robe over her head. "You will see."
All of them except for her began to disintegrate into the wind. I ran around, trying to stop each one before they disappeared, but there was no use. They were gone.
I fell to my knees as I felt myself begin to weaken. She began walking forward as I coughed blood and fell face first onto the grass. As my vision began to dim, I noticed her kneeling and placing a hand on the back of my head. Then, I slipped into unconsciousness.

Gallery / Unfinished Projects (Save Added!)
« on: October 13, 2013, 02:33:53 AM »
Over the years, I've started so many projects that I'm too lazy to finish. I've decided to post pictures of them here. See the bottom of this post for the saves of the winning builds in the poll.

- Airfield -

This might have been pretty awesome if it were completed. It was created using a save pack that someone had released a while back. Me and my friend sort of forgot about it, though.

An overview of the whole thing. The save pack can be seen in the lower right. The two smaller airstrips are for the jets and the one big airstrip is for the AC-130. The helipads are for the helicopters.

A screenshot of one of the hangars.

A random DOF of the unfinished tower.

A screenshot of one of the main areas.

We may or may not continue this project.

- Apocalypse -

This was originally going to be a large-scale project, but I got lazy as usual.

Overview of the build.

Outside of the survivor camp.

The abandoned house...

...and the survivor camp.

- Arctic -

This was intended to be a large-scale project as well, but I stopped after building this one area.

Overview.

One of the tents.

The entrance/exit area.

- Cbrown town -

I got the idea for building this after visiting Barnabas' server. It just seemed too much like his, and it was way too much work for me.

Overview.

One of the buildings.

View from under one of the bridges.

- Cellar -

This was intended to be some sort of exploration type gamemode, but it would probably do better as a deathmatch.

Overview.

Inside.

Entrance to one of the many rooms.

One of the rooms.

I'm still thinking of making it into a deathmatch...

- Challenge -

Title explains it all. This is an unfinished challenge thing. I was planning for it to be all default.

Overview.

The spawn room.

The tunnel leading out of the spawn room.

The first (and only) challenge.

More later!

Well, since it seems there was an obvious winner, here you go!

Just a preview of something I've been working on.

I added a save of the field itself.
