As some of you may know, Steve5451 posted a concerning message in a few discords and disappeared for the last 4 days.

I was able to stop by his moms house and find out what is going on

He did attempt to commit Self Delete, but was stopped and is currently in a mental hospital.
The details are not to be shared.

I just wanted people to know he is alive and more or less "safe"

Games / Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Megathread - Patch 3.2 soon
« on: February 15, 2016, 10:54:35 PM »

Welcome to the World of Final Fantasy
Download - Download (Free Trial) - Wiki - Community Site - Purchasing Info

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is the recreation of the failure that was the first release of FFXIV: Online.
As some may remember, the game used to have absolutely terrible reviews, yet is now considered one of the better MMORPGs on the market.

Unlike WoW or Final Fantasy XI, you can play ALL classes on a single character, removing the need to switch whenever you need to play as a healer or tank. The only reason for a second character is for RP, a different look, or just to get away from the main every once in a while.

This allows you to switch classes on the goal, such as to fill in any position needed, whether its for a FATE, a dungeon, or just needing to craft or gather something.

While this is all nice to have, those coming from WoW will realize you cant go and give a paladin double swords, or a white mage a sword, or a Dragoon a shield.
Classes are determined by their weapon, which limits that feature.

Jobs (Classes)

Tanks

Warrior (Marauder)

The Warrior is a Tanking job that Wields a greataxe. They are fierce in battle, using stance skills that increase in power based on certain abilities. Has better aggro early on than the Paladin, but requires better footing and a close eye on TP. Depends on flash from Paladin to be even more effective.

Paladin(Gladiator)

The Paladin is a Tanking job that wields a Sword and Shield. They have a naturally higher tanking ability due to their shield and abilities, which allows them to reduce physical damage on top of their high defense. their early game aggro is poor, but gets better when they get their stances and second AoE aggro ability. Considered one of the easiest to learn tanking jobs.

Dark Knight (Heavensward Job)

The dark Knight is a Tanking job that wields a two handed Greatsword. They are one of the higher damage tanks with a higher learning curve, having skills based around managing aggro and MP. The Dark Knight has some of the best early game aggro and damage but is offset by an almost lackluster set of defensive skills. Usually is played as an Off-tank.

Healers

White Mage (Conjurer)

The White Mage is one of 3 current healers in the game. The White Mage deals exclusively in healing and protection, having the well known Protect and a shield called Stoneskin that nullifies damage. The White mage is essential to learn if you plan on playing other healers, having 3 very important cross skills.

Scholar (Arcanist)

The Scholar is the 2nd healer in the base game and is unique in that it cannot start as a healer. The Scholar uses summons to help out with healing and buffing. the Scholar has a much higher learning curve than the White mage and needs some practice to become effective with it. Has instant high powered abilities at the cost of stacks of Aetherflow.

Astrologian (Heavensward Job)

The Astrologian is a Healing job that deals with cards that provide powerful buffs. the Astrologian has the ability to burn cards to enhance the next card drawn in 3 different ways, such as making it aoe, double potency, or double duration. Also, the Astrologian has 2 stances that alter certain skills, such as adding a shield or a regen effect to said skills.

Melee DPS

Dragoon (Lancer)

The Dragoon is a melee dps job that wields a Spear. The Dragoon specializes in Jumps and DoTs to dish out the pain. In terms of damage and utility, the Dragoon is somewhat in the middle. Has high potential to dish out lots of damage due to a 100% crit attack, but can be difficult to master at higher levels.

Monk (Pugilist)

The Monk is a melee DPS job that wields Fist-like weapons, similar to brass knuckles. The Monk specializes in temporary stances to increase attack speed and deal a decent amount of damage. The Monk requires careful positioning to be very effective in battle.

Ninja (Rogue)

The Ninja is a melee DPS job that wields two daggers. The Ninja specializes in Ninjutsu, which is a combination ability that results in a relatively powerful attack or buff. While not as dependent on positioning as Monk, Ninjas still need to take advantage of it to deal their full potential.

Ranged DPS

Bard (Archer)

The Bard is a ranged DPS job that wields a bow. The Bard specializes in party wide and single target buffs. While having a lower damage potency on abilities, the Bard's damage output comes from "weaving" in fast cooldown abilities. The bard is actually good, despite the name.

Machinist (Heavensward Job

The Machinist is a ranged DPS job that wields a gun. The Machinist specializes in sentries that assist in damage and reloading, which boosts ability potency. The Machinist is highly dependent on ability procs, more so than the Bard. The Machinist has fewer off cooldown abilities than the Bard.

Magical DPS

Black Mage (Thaumaturge)

The Black Mage is a Magical DPS Job that deals in heavy elemental damage. The Black Mage specializes in using its special ability, Astral Fire/Umbral Ice. Each stack of Astral Fire increases the damage and mana cost of fire abilities and reduces mp regen to 0, while having stacks of Umbral Ice will reduce the mana cost and damage of fire abilities while having boosted MP regen.
The Black mage has the most powerful abilities in the game at the cost of being stationary when casting spells.

Summoner (Arcanist)

The Summoner is a magical DPS class that dealing in summons to deal damage. The Summoner is the other job obtained from Arcanist, the other being Scholar. The Summoner, aside from summons, specializes in DoTs to deal damage. While having the weakest instant damage ability int eh game, the Summoner depends on their summons to make up for the lack of normal damage. The Summoner can summon up to 3 kinds of pets to join their side, all having different abilities and uses.

There is also 8 crafters and 3 gathers but im too lazy to add in all the info. They are pretty self explanatory.

Games / Ω Smite Megathread Ω
« on: June 07, 2015, 03:33:28 AM »

SMITE, a game created by Hi-Rez Studios. Play as a god or goddess from 7 different pantheons in this unique moba. What makes it unique? Unlike most mobas where the game is entirely birds eye view, Smite has made it 3rd person, allowing you to be closer to the action and making 99% of abilites skill shots, and even the auto attacks require aim.

Similar to other mobas, its a competitive team based game where you must destroy objectives, kill other players and ultimately take down the enemy's Titan, a giant creature guards the players spawn.

For those coming from League and Dota, there are some slight differences besides the view change:
  • All "Champions" are based off of real historical gods, goddesses, and some monstrous humans.
  • Last hits aren't required to receive gold, however, you will receive a 50% gold bonus from doing so,
But because of that, towers that hit minions will make those minions award no gold at all.
  • Inhibitors are equal to phoenix's in Smite. Also, instead of a stationary nexus, you have an aggressive Titan.
  • The map changes based on what team you are on and the lanes are right to left, not top to bottom.
  • Because of the changing map, lanes are differentiated by location to live objectives. Duo lane is next to gold fury (old dragon)
and solo lane is next to Fire giant (Baron). Also, Duo lane has a longer distance between the tier 1 towers, while solo lane has a shorter distance.
  • Item menu is in tiers, not combos. 1 item will build into another in a 1-3 tier way. You can not buy duplicate items.
  • Items can not be actives. Actives and consumables are in their own slots, 2 each, giving a total of 10 slots, 4 of which are intractable in battle, the other 6 being passive.

Game Modes
Conquest
The most popular and well known game mode. Fight in a 5v5 match in a large map with 3 lanes and in between jungles.
Each side has 2 towers in each lane and a pheonix guarding the final objective: The Titan.
This is the largest and most complex game mode, with the Jungle being the source of many team fights.
Speaking of the jungle, there are 4 buff camps and 2 exp camps on each side, with 2 large exp camps in the middle and the 2 very important objectives closer to the side lanes: The Gold fury, a creature that awards every teammate with 300 gold, and the Fire Giant, a powerful creature that gives 150 gold and a very potent buff to all allies.

(I would include a picture but it turns out there isnt a map of the current season, sorry)

Arena
An (I think) unique gamemode for Smite: A circular, well, arena with no objectives and side camps. The goal is to deplete the enemy tickets by either killing them, last hitting minions, or getting your minions to the enemies portal.
A simple gamemode, but nonetheless still very fun. This is usually where you go to test out god kits.

Joust
A smaller, more simple version of conquest with 3v3 teams, 1 lane, side jungles, and only 1 tower instead of 2. The Titan has lower health, and this gamemode allows for a faster gamemode usually with friends.

NOTE: It is speculated that the joust map is getting a complete rework, so this info will be changed accordingly.

Assault
ARAM for those from LoL or Dota, this is a full on 5v5 team fight, single lane, no jungle map with no recall and only access to the shop when you spawn.
2 towers each side, a phoenix, and Titan. There is no sustain in lane so buying the active mediation and getting pots is a must.
Unlike LoL, if a team gets a healer, the other team gets a healer. Also, just wish the enemy team doesn't win the lottery with gods.

Siege
The inbetween of conquest and joust with a special twist. 2 lanes with 2 towers each, 4v4 fighting, mid jungle, and giant siege minions that spawn when you reach 100 tickets or kill the juggernaut in the center. Also the best way to gain worshipers.

RANKED
Smite offers 2 ranked modes at the max level of 30 and at least 16 mastered gods.
Conquest is like normal conquest, but with draft picks and 6 bans.
Ranked Joust is the same as joust but is 1v1, 4 bans, blind pick.

Off Topic / Need help trying to find 2 great monitors
« on: September 23, 2013, 03:38:08 AM »
So, recently I had a itch to kinda up my battlestation.
I'm just stuck on what to get for monitors.

I'm going for a Dual monitor setup, preferable 24-27" 1920x1080 (or 1200). Pretty much wanting to buy two of the same one,
as my current monitor is too small to make a decent setup.

My price range is at a max of $500 at the moment. Any recommendations?
