Games / East India Company
« on: October 28, 2009, 12:19:58 AM »
So a 60% sale just went up for this stuff, and its lasting until next Tuesday I believe.
Mmm baby this looks good.
I browsed through the pictures and such, and I have a general sense of the game.

Basically, you make an East India Company from the 17th century, and try to make it as large as possible.
As far as the actual gameplay goes, it seems like a mix between Age of Empires and a sort of close range Sim City.
The graphics look amazing, and I have a feeling that they tried to be somewhat accurate with the historical aspects of it (lets hope it holds true with the Spanish Armada >:D)
However the actual people look a little funky up close, like gorilla poses.
I was wondering if anyone else has played this game yet, and whether or not I should get it.

PICTURES.

Let me also add that I have an extreme soft spot for this time period; its like boobies for Ralphie in Role Models.
 :cookieMonster:
Oh and just to be giddy, I'll add Steam's game description and a link to the official website.

In East India Company, players will enjoy building the World's most powerful trading empire & engaging in vigorous battles in both single player & multiplayer modes, all within a breathtaking cinematic game environment.

Players will fight, manage, and rule nations from Europe to the Far East with eight nationalities to chose from: British, Dutch, French, Danish, Portuguese, Swedish, Spanish, and the Holy Roman Empire. Starting modestly, you will build your fleet, establish connections to far away countries, and keep the rivaling nations at bay. Choose from a wide array of ship classes, including a variety of transport and military vessels. Create diverse fleets and assign each of them specific trading routes. Control and upgrade well situated ports as you form your strategy for domination.

Conflicts and wars are inevitable. When hostile fleets engage each other, the spectacular naval battles are fought from a real-time tactical level. Devastating broadsides are fired with a deafening roar and cannon balls tear through enemy ships and their crew. For greater tactical depth, command your ship and give independent orders to each of your fleets. Fight against the other European powers to create a trading empire that will rule above all others in this groundbreaking strategy war game!

VAULT! GET TO IT!

Yes.
I have been building this since late august early september.

Also, this is all in clickable thumbnail version, to save space and not page stretch (for some.)

The concept is that this is an airship, it uses fans for upward propulsion and two thrusters for turning/forward propulsion. This ship has no means of going backwards, which can be a hassle when trying to parallel park it.

Overview of the ship

Close-up of the front of the ship

Another view of the front

A picture of the back of the ship

The Great Room, aka the first room you enter when in the interior

An action shot of The Great Room

Bedroom to the right of the "Netwars4" sign

Bedroom to the left of the "Netwars4" sign

The organ room, labeled "Netwars4" at the entrance to it

The organ itself, being used aptly

Another picture of the organ, without me playing it

The loft in the organ room (has two chests, and two shelves of things)

The kitchen, to the right of the stairs entering The Great Room

The bathroom, to the left of the stairs entering The Great Room

Another shot of the bathroom, with its old fashioned flusher toilet

Exit the interior, and head down the ladder. There is a trap door, this is what is under said trap door.

In order to see everything about this build (such as the cannons on top, who doesn't love cannons?) I would recommend getting the save.

Things that are needed for the full effect of the build:
-all JVS Content (or at least the doors, lever, and light switch)
-No lines 1x1 and 4 sided print bricks
-[Cityz Edition] Modified Lights
-Trueno's Colorset
-Fan

-Wouldn't hurt to have VCE Events either, but it's not needed.

Save

So I hope you all like it.

Oh ps, you can rate if you wish.

Responses to people's insight.

  • Edit for mean things: However the exterior of the back of the ship looks odd. Why is there an organ. The kitchen and bathroom, as well as the 'under the trapdoor' could be better.

Edit for more mean things: The rails on the outside of the ship are a bit plain, and where do you steer?
The back of the ship I had a really hard time trying to figure out, because the height of it is a few thirds off from normal brick height (my memory isn't good right now but I believe it was somewhere around 8 2/3 height) so making something that fit with that was a little tricky for me.
The purpose of the organ was because I wanted to have one in the back, in a somewhat similar style to Davy Jones' Organ in Pirates of The Carribean. It plays music if that contributes to anything. D:

For the kitchen and bathroom, I'm going to check on whether I can increase their size at all, and the Maintenance Walkway (the under the trap door) is really not meant to be viewed well from the inside, since it would rarely be used.

I didn't even think about changing the rails.
And the steering mechanism is a little strange, basically what you have to do is shut off one of the two thrusters in order to steer, since there is no rudder on the ship.
  • It just doesn't seem right to me with out the sails there. But other then that it is very good.
I want sails on that bitch.
I still think it could use a balloon or two though.
I'll be trying to add balloons, and possibly attempt sails again.

NEW SAVE
Includes:
More stuff on the control area, and a steering wheel.

Off Topic / MY delusions about add-ons
« on: August 28, 2009, 09:35:57 PM »
I don't know if they're dreams, nightmares, or hysteria when I faint after getting up from too much Blockland, but I am starting to imagine that there are add-ons on the forums that arn't actually there.

examples:

(here's the kicker, this one can actually go straight up by using the spacebar)

I've asked around a little bit, but no one has seen or heard of either of these (well, Beachbum hasn't.)
So am I actually seeing reality? Or do I need more water?

Off Topic / What are some good guitar scales?
« on: August 21, 2009, 03:39:29 AM »
It's 1:37 AM and I'm wide awake, with a guitar.

I know Pentatonic scale, major scale, minor scale, harmonic nine scale (I think that's the name of it), and some Mexican scale, oh and harmonic minor scale.

So any others that are useful to know?

Yes.

Well, I just uploaded a house (or two) to the Sims 3 website.
Personally I find it pretty danged awesome, however I wanted to see what you guys thought about it; seeing as some of you are probably really good at making houses.

Gallery / Netwars4's Banc
« on: August 03, 2009, 07:31:08 PM »
Yes.

This bank I did over the course of a few hours, just a small little project.
Started out with a wall, tried to figure out how to make epic walls for my sky scraper; finally settled on one and started hacking away at it on a 32x32 flat. Basically, I got lazy and decided to make it one of those unit type shop things, then my friend told me I should make it a bank.

Da Banc

Inside, I just want to add that this was more of an exterior project than an interior one.

In the vault, it's not too filled yet.

Oh forgot to mention, it has lighting. For this particular project I used a new set of lights (which I LOVE by the way)
What light set is it you ask?
Why none other than Altanore's Modified Lights! (If you can't find it; just search 'lights' in RTB, its the [Cityz Edition])

One of the reasons I love these lights is because they have normal, dim, and dimmer settings on all the colors; and even includes a new Bulb type light!

Add-Ons used:
JVS Pack (buttons, switch, and all doors sets)
Atanore's Modified Lights
Truenos Color Set

Also: If you voted 'Bad' can you explain why?

Yes.

Welcome to the apartments, but not really apartments because you can only access two of the floors so far and both of those floors only have hallways.
But anyway, onto the images.

Overall

Back Overall

Close Up of Front

Inside the First Floor (Second Floor is basically the same, just different colors)

Roof.

Now this is only one of the buildings, as you can see in the background, it is actually a quite large overall build.
However I am farthest along with this one, and am far enough that I am comfortable showing it to you, the community.

So..
What do you think?

Well, there was a thread about omegle a while ago, but I felt this deserved its own topic.
I was just talking to this 'lady' who was '24' and she started talking about what she likes to do with her kids.

Off Topic / Computers- What gender are they?
« on: June 10, 2009, 12:53:31 AM »
Well I was messing around with the suggested searches on Google, and one of them asked this question, so I ask you:

Are they male, or female? give reasons.

Off Topic / I despise computers.
« on: May 03, 2009, 05:22:10 PM »
Tried, tried, to make a computer using parts that Reactor gave me, and the thing wont turn on. I've connected every single cable that can be connected, and still nothing. SATA cables, power cables that have acronyms ill never know the true purpose of, yellow whites and reds galore, and about a billion and one dropped screws.

I havnt even heard this thing run and i already wanna set it ablaze.

Post stories of how your computer has been handicapped.

Off Topic / SATA
« on: April 26, 2009, 08:39:42 PM »
Well, a while back i had asked which parts would be best to make a custom computer, Reactor gave me parts.
The parts came in this past Friday, i assembled most of it yesterday, exempt of a few cables: the SATA cables.
I have absolutely no clue what they are for, what they go to, and whether they are optional or not.

So can anyone tell me what SATA is exactly? I would highly appreciate a dumbed down version, because I'm no expert on any of this (spare on/off)

Gallery / Lava Deathmatch [WIP and Image Heavy!]
« on: February 24, 2009, 09:13:49 PM »
Well this build was inspired by Mustafar, but is not an exact replica of the movie's fiery planet.
In fact the only real resemblance now is the control room and the lava. It's meant to be a death match, can be team if you want it to be, and has many small areas for close range killing, but also has some sniper to it, not much, but still some.

And you will see that some doorways have well, no door in them. this is because i am wondering whether to add a market type area above the factory section, it would be open air market and have a bunch of random stalls and things in it with maybe one roofed shop or something. should i do it?

Overall View

View of the biggest buildings, the open doorway on the third floor is the height i am placing the market at

The docks, nice little area, complete with a forklift, military jeep, and Arwing

Gun Shop, its in the middle of the area and also includes HE-Grenades and Smoke Grenades (not the new ones, the old ones)

The Power area of the build, includes an on/off switch for the room and a reactor in the middle that when shot will deflect the bullets; so you can have a little fun with that.

control room, not much happening in here, but its in a prime location next to the shipyard

The factory, supplies electricity to the power building, using lava.

Oh hey! a working piston thingy!

A lovely little feature, makes the killing even easier. when shot, these barrels will explode, and usually injure anyone near

this is the interior of the big buildings, as you can see there is no floor or no doorway, and this is because i have decided to make this section of the build the 'customization' spot.
Oh and if you feel that your interior of this section is absolutely amazing, please PM me the save along with a short description and screenshot of the interior so i can please the lazy people aside from myself :D

and finally, a nice little shot of the barge i might make
i say might because im not really sure how im going to put it all together and i might just remove it completely since there wont really be a way to get to it.
