Once the news organization pays up, they are free to write whatever they want on top of what was provided.

And they say we need to have it with the new X11 boxes because soon they will be storing all of their DVR recordings on cloud instead and that modem is the only one that currently supports that

EDIT: they recently changed it to $10

This is 90 bucks and it is probably about the same thing they are going to give you.

It kinda explains why Comcast is so cheap because I have had the same. Modem for 3 years and not once have they said that it is out of date and that we should get the new one to get the speeds we pay for. With the old modem on an external router we had 15-23 Mbps Download with a ping of like 100.

The new modem is now installed.
Modem's Wifi Network 4.5Gz: 40mbps, 35ms ping
Modem's Wifi Network 5Gz: 45-55mbps, 10ms ping
External Router Wifi Network 4.5-5Gz: 45mbps, 15ms ping

That's quite the difference from the old one... Thanks for ripping us off for 2 years.

Its cheaper just to buy your own modem and not pay the monthly fees. A good modem will pay itself in one year.
