Faces, Decals, Prints / ModTer 8-Bit Expansion Pack
« on: May 31, 2020, 07:04:30 PM »
6 years ago I created a NES-inspired print pack that became somewhat popular.  I come to you now with 107 new prints designed to be compatible with the first 38.  Suitable for a wide range of themes.

These prints will work on their own, but they'll be missing the original 38 if you don't download and enable Part 1.  Get that here:

Recommended to use with:
8-Bit Environments
Famicom Colorset

General Discussion / Re: we found badspot's stock sound effect cd
« on: May 20, 2020, 08:27:13 PM »
Breaking my long forum silence to chip in a little extra information.  I was on Badspot's Block Party many years ago and asked where After School Special is from, and he told me it's from a royalty free CD he got in 1997.  This CD is from 1998.  There are two explanations:

1. Badspot remembered the wrong year.  It happens.

2. Badspot really did get that CD in 1997, possibly one that had been printed 1996 or earlier, and this 1998 CD is a later version of that one.  Thus, that CD would be the true source of many of Blockland's sounds and music, and likely that one 1996 song that samples Ambient Deep, too.

Server Info

I got a ways into this and I don't think I like it that much.  It's trippy and interesting, but there's way too much focus on precision platforming, whereas Banjo's enjoyability has always been more in exploring and solving problems.

Been working on this for a while, I think it's coming along nicely.

Apologies; this was a knee-jerk reaction to an implication that I don't deserve anything for my efforts, which came as the one thing that finally crossed the line for me after the harsh nature of the previous comments.  I've spent a lot of time and effort over the past few years designing, developing, polishing, and tweaking this game demo to represent the final product, should I ever get there, as closely as possible, and the fallout from posting here on BLF was extremely disheartening.  I didn't mean to sound like I was ignoring criticism entirely, that one thing just set me off.  I'm sorry I ended up lashing out in a way that just made me sound entitled.

i feel like this game could have potential if you flesh out the current mechanics but with its current state i feel like trying to monetize this is a really bold decision

So you honestly think that despite the fact that I have spent the last two years pouring my heart and soul into this game, I deserve zero compensation for all the time and effort I've put into it?  forget you.  People like you are the reason the games industry has a reputation for being a toxic hellhole.

getting Trojan:Win32/Azden.A!cl on windows defender

windows defender read it as a virus

False positive.  It's a Game Maker game.  The worst it does is read and write a few text files in the game's sub-folders.

Whelp, I accidentally hit "post" instead of "preview".  Please wait while I work on OP some more.

Games / Chatters the Squirrel - World 1 demo out now!
« on: March 12, 2018, 08:05:51 PM »
I've been kind of a stranger around BLF lately, but some of you may remember me posting development screenshots and gifs of this game, and random stuff of this character.  The public demo is finally out, so I figured this game could use its own thread.

Chatters the Squirrel is a platform game for Windows inspired by the great platformers of the 16-bit era.  All the design, programming, art, and music is by me.  The demo contains the entire first world, with 10 levels and two boss fights.
