Games / Re: Minecraft Megathread; Version 1.6.2 Out!
« on: August 21, 2013, 07:06:10 PM »
To be fair, I understand nothing about the complexity of programming that is Minecraft as a whole, but couldn't the game detect what block the player with a hand-held light was on and render the lighting from there? Would there have to be too many updates to keep on detecting player motion through a world, especially a 3D one?

Already been attempted, and it's slow as forget.

Well then anyone could fake being, say, Badspot.
And no, you can't use the passwords. Any add-on that uses passwords from the forums would be failed, says Ephi.
Unless you meant a Blockland IRC channel client standalone, which I doubt anyone would use.

Generate a code/hash of some kind for each person and have them stick it into their forum signature or something.

Off Topic / Re: Valve should buy Mojang.
« on: September 11, 2012, 02:54:45 PM »
Valve wouldn't want to hire Mojang people at this point. Maybe when MC was getting started, but it's too late for Valve to really benefit from it. MC was a runaway success that nobody saw coming and it really should not have happened. By the time anybody realized that MC was "going big", it was too late for anybody to consider buying Mojang, and Notch would not have sold.

Plus, Mojang is doing just fine on their own and wouldn't want to be bought out, even by Valve. Maybe in the future if their future games fall flat (like Cobalt did), but for now they're riding the Minecraft wave.

I still cannot use shaders because EXT_texture_array is not supported on my card.

technically we already can contain black holes

there are tiny black holes made in particle accelerators, but they evaporate

unless that's old outdated information that's been proven wrong since i heard it?
Particle accelerators never make black holes. That was people yelling that have no idea how particle accelerators work or what they do.

More like leaving your curtains open to your living room and complain when people look inside.

It's not wiretapping if they expose it to the entire loving internet.

i think you can just buy MACosx in the app store, burn it to a disk, and install it
Nah, making a "hackintosh" is actually against the ToS or whatever it is you "agree" to when buying OS X.
