Since in the current developer version you're only able to see half of the currently used 720p screen, as opposed to seeing all of the consumer version's 1080p screen.
I didn't blow 300$ the consumer version will be lighter and have a slightly higher resolution. I'm not waiting a year for that. These are developer kits, which come with tools and bonuses the consumer one wont have.
Besides, I have plenty of money to spend.
There's also many other potential changes, as demonstrated by the newest model, which has half the input lag, a major reduction in motion blur, and positional head tracking.
