I have friends that antagonize all my other friends, it's just what they do.  We don't take it personally and we do the same back to him.  Going drinking at bars, we come across people that unironically antagonize, try to start fights and try to ruin the fun and what do we do? We IGNORE them.

So yeah that's very much the culture here on good ol' blf most of the time, the problem is that it's not good-natured antagonizing it's actual, straight up stupid stuff that adds nothing to conversation.

can your avatar share some of that popcorn
its stuffty imitation popcorn

See, what Swollow did was "the lads antagonizing each other at a bar."

Today’s topic: My uncontrollable urge to rape children

That's just unfounded. And I don't mean in a "you're cyber bullying me and hurt my feelings" way, I mean in a "dude shut up it's not funny, we're not loving 12 anymore" way

was swholli the guy that had the garfield pointing at something while drooling, followed by the jackolantern avatar version?

Yeah my avatar used to be a frame from one of my old Garfield fan comics.

Today’s topic: why haven’t I gained a following outside of my niche LEGO forum friends after dedicating 5 years of my life to my milquetoast YouTube channel without attempting to market it to anyone outside of that group

Aight? Also I've had the milquetoast Youtube channel for 14 years, thank you very much

is there gonna be a schedule around this?

Yes, gonna try for Monday nights and Tuesday mornings, which leads me to:

What's This?

Packer and I (yes that Packer) are combining our talents and starting a live-stream podcast where we'll talk about video games, nostalgia, video game related nostalgia, and just- yeah it's mostly about video games. We'll probably talk about some Blockland oldcigarette stuff at some point.

Oh and we're gonna try to play Conker Live and Reloaded's multiplayer on the original xbox (using original hardware, see this guide if you have the game and want to try and join. I'm pretty sue Xlink Kai also works with emulation software)

We're trying to do our first stream tonight. It'll be live on my main Youtube channel so you can subscribe to that if you haven't already to be updated. I'll also update this thread with a link once we go live. If we don't go live tonight I apologize in advance, we don't have set steaming schedule and he lives in Australia and I in the US so we're already stretching the limits of this as it is.

I made this topic because the BLF is basically our first internet stomping ground and there might be some of you who want to hear two guys in their late twenties talk about video games from 2005.

If this proves successful we'll do the usual, start a discord, get a PO box, give out our home addresses, you know.

General Discussion / Re: Swholli: Biography of a Failure [BOOK]
« on: June 23, 2020, 09:49:05 PM »
I found this pdf on an old harddrive, it's from 2011 so it was exactly when Icy made his book. What I thought was hilarious that it was only a page long and 9 years late which to me was a perfect metaphor for "biography of a failure."

These are swholli jokes deepcuts, never before seen, you're getting them fresh.

I was asked to write this by Swholli. At first I thought he was taking the piss so I asked him why, and he said that he wanted to have his own 'Blockland story' or 'book' about what he did, like some other players have recently been doing. He told me he wanted it to be like a biography. In particular, he referenced Steve Job's recent book that he explained he had read. He said that a lot of his in-game inspiration for Blockland event computers was drawn from Apple. Even his last build looked unashamedly like the iMac G3 released by Apple in 1998 or so. He said, much like Job's book, he wanted it to be similar in that he didn't want to stop me from writing it my way and posting negative information. In saying that he did send me a tonne of links and snippets over email, some of which I lightly skimmed over due to them being too big. But for the most part I feel I did a good job by myself.
His reference to Steve Jobs perhaps vindicated the feeling that Swholli had an ego bigger than Blockland itself. It also reflected another aspect about him; his strange desire to build or create mock-realistic services, builds, and tools. Its as if Blockland was another reality for him. Another world to hide away in.
When I asked Swholli what he meant by the whole 'Steve Jobs book' deal, he said to me “I want a mock-book with the same vibes of his biography. In the world of Blockland, I think I may be fitting for someone who makes an interesting read.”
Someone asked me, why did you write this anyway? Privately, I like Swholli. I don't agree with how he acts (sorry Swhy haha) but I was a fan of his videos and his builds. When I was asked to help I felt honored (but I kinda expected it due to being somewhat close to him for a while). However I feel I should remain anonymous to the wider community, as after having read about Swholli and seem some recent topics about him I now realize a lot of people hold contempt for what he did. And I don't want to be dragged into it. To those of you who overheard me and Swholli on servers or know who I am, please have some respect for me and don't blurt it out.
Swholli and I spoke for pretty much all of November during 2011. Through email, on Skype, and over Steam. Even sometimes we had voice chats, though Swholli regularly shied out of them. At one point he got a cold and demanded I leave him alone, then later apologized and spammed my inbox with “<3 <3 <3 luv joo”. But over time, through both talking to him, being sent information, and conducting my own research, I actually had real fun doing this. So without further ramblings, I welcome fans and haters to the Blockland life of Swholli...

12+ now for me wtf

Yeah I bought my copy sometime late 2006 early 2007, just right after retail was released, so it's like 13/14 for me.

Update from mod-man

Packer

Packer has been dealing with illness lately but I'm pretty sure he went on to be a game designer albeit small indie stuff (I could just ask him but he's asleep on the other side of the planet).

mod-man (wrinkle-brained oldcigarette)

I have him on snapschat still, he still makes stuff with that weird rock with a face.

Shows up in the Content Creators discord like every once in a blue moon, and sometimes plays VR Chat

I... would like to be in this discord.
