Add-Ons / Floating Bricks v2.0.1

The old topic was too old to bump / edit, so here's a new topic with an updated download link.



Features:
  • Plant, load, and save floating bricks.
  • Undo, hammer, d-wand, or otherwise destroy floating bricks without issue.

Comes with 3 RTB prefs (should also be compatible with glass).
  • Enable Floating Bricks? [Self Explanatory]
  • Admin Only? [Self Explanatory]
  • Timeout [Minimum time (in seconds) between planting floating bricks]

Blockland mods are just that: blockland mods.

not sure where you get that idea. they're pretty typical and tons of games afford mods way more flexibility
AND don't require you to learn a stupid little language that you will literally never use anywhere else before or after

How are they insane? They're just open.. Blockland runs on a garbage engine.

I feel like this quote from Crook sums it up pretty well:

disagree, you'll be hard pressed to find another engine where you can just slap in new models, sounds, behavior, and mutate existing functionality at runtime. the ability to just arbitrarily spawn in objects, dump their attributes, access objects with container searches and raycasts, run functions from console, is something extremely rare which I've seen in maybe a handful of games.

This is the point I was trying to make in my earlier post.

All they'd have to do to match Blockland is allow people to mod it how they want and incorporate an easy system of mod installation.

Modification Help / PSA: Sounds are "Broken" on Dedicated Servers.

Due to unset variables, all default audio descriptions (e.g.: AudioClose3d, AudioCloseLooping3d, etc.) are corrupted on dedicated servers and have unreliable / earsplitting volume levels.

There is an easy fix for server hosts:
  • create config/main.cs, if it doesn't exist
  • add the following variables to the end of config/main.cs: (after everything else)

$GuiAudioType = 1;
$SimAudioType = 2;
$MessageAudioType = 3;

    This is not a problem for listen (client-hosted) servers, it only applies to dedicated servers.

    forget, i remember you tellin me about the room -> toom autocorrect thing in vc but i forgot what it was again

    the room -> toom universal autocorrect is a phenomenon where the word "room" somehow becomes "toom" when a file is left alone for a very long time.

    Users already have a BL_ID that they can be permantly identified by, perhaps a better solution would be to put a really long timeout on name changes — like a month or so. That way, legitimate name changes can still be a thing.
