Off Topic / Changing the Background Color of a Picture

There are two things that I want to know how to do.

The first: making a picture with a white background transparent.

The second: taking a picture of something in real life and giving it a nice plain white background to make it stand out (I see this all the time on LEGO gallery sites like Brickshelf.)

I'm pretty sure I've asked something similar a while back, and you guys said you can use paint or something. I got a Mac (yes, go ahead and call me an autistic friend) so none of that for me.

Can't you use Photoshop to do these things? And if so, what exact program? Thanks.

Off Topic / "Dinocroc vs. Supergator"

It had to happen.

So there's this new Syfy original movie thing called "Dinocroc vs. Supergator." After seeing some trailers for this amazing work of art, I looked up some background information.
Apparently, "Dinocroc" and "Supergator" were two separate movies, and now they're in the same one for the "epic battle of the century hurr."

Seems like lesser companies are stuffting out the giant x vs giant y template nowadays, such as:
Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus
Komodo vs. Cobra

One of the epic fights in Komodo vs. Cobra.

Basically, the movie is a combination of stuffty, overused plots, stolen Jurassic Park sounds, horrible acting, and bad CGI.
I'm not going to begin to question how stabbing crocodiles with a "growth hormone" enough times causes them to mutate into two different fully functional, completely new species in less than a day, one of which was somehow carrying fertilized eggs.

But that's not the worst of it... The Syfy Channel is making a new movie, to be released in March of next year, called "Dinoshark vs. Sharktopus."

I know how to change the color of text in client messages, but how do you change the font and/or size of the text? I've never tried it.

Off Topic / Cryptozoology

If you don't know what "cryptozoology" means, it's basically people trying to prove the existence of creatures such as "Bigfoot," or "The Loch Ness Monster."

I've found a list of many of these alleged creatures. A good amount are actually large versions of a normal animal, such as a giant snake, giant spider, giant hawk, giant fish... as well as some classics such as Bigfoot. The site with this list offers possible explanations for these animals.

Bigfoot = Prehistoric ape
Nessie = Prehistoric sea reptile
"Ropen" = Prehistoric pterosaur

And that's just a few of them. It's strange how so many of these supposed sightings have extinct animals that match their descriptions.

So, my questions to you guys is, is it possible? Could a few rare individuals have survived where the rest of their species died, and continued a small population in a remote area?  Or all they all fake, and people are just seeing what they want to see?

Off Topic / HL2 Sound Request.

I'm in need of some sounds from Half-Life 2. Here are the main ones I need...

Pistol Firing / Reloading
SMG Firing / Reloading
Shotgun Firing / Reloading

All of the Antlion Sounds
All of the Zombie Sounds (yes, all three kinds)
Individual Headcrab sounds (Normal, Fast, Poison)
The Strider "wooo" sound and movement.
Hunter sounds.
Combine death sound.

I realize that you can download some program and then convert the files from your HL2 folder and whatnot, but I don't want to waste my time, and it probably won't work for me anyway (Mac :3)

Edit: It'd just be a lot easier if someone found a way to convert them all and I could take my pick out of the huge selection.

Alright, this is just a little question.

I'm browsing the internets, and I see some to-be-released LEGO sets. Then, I see things that look suspiciously similar to BrickForge parts, a third-party "LEGO" part maker.

So far, the similarities I've noticed...

Roman Helmet in the Minifig packs

Great Helm in the "Kingdoms" theme

Mushroom in the Harry Potter theme -- I'm pretty sure this is the EXACT same piece.

How can this be? Have they banded together or something?

So apparently Lego wants to "make up" for all the people pissed about Bionicle ending, so they combine their gay Ben 10 sets and names with leftover Bionicle pieces, and... you have the "OMGWTFBBQ HERO FAKTORYES."

I have two sound ideas, at least one would be very useful. These shouldn't be too hard to clip and/or convert, unfortunately I don't know how.

Sound 1: Record Stop
That noise you hear when something goes wrong.

Sound 2: "Falcon Punch Noise"
The sound that Captain Falcon makes when he punches. The name is self-explanatory.


Someone, please make these. Or at least the record stop noise :P
