They do have several sets that appeal to older kids.
Ever hear of Architecture, Technic, Mindstorms or their Collectors series (Taj Mahal, Modular Houses, etc.)? And if you mean video game related things specifically then you're just thinking with too high expectations.

No, I'm not asking Lego to have video game tie-ins. I am just sick and tired of Ben 10, Toy Story, Clone Wars and whatnot.

Legos by themselves are made for children... maybe just have a slightly wider range?

Architecture – an average $100 for a set with 0 playability (although I guess that's the point) that isn't even mini-scaled? No thanks.
*Modern Technic – a couple of trucks, maybe a crane! Oh boy!
Mindstorms – Not arguing with this. Some fun stuff here.
Collectors – Half of this is like Architecture, the other half seems to be the same idea repeated. They must have made about 5 nearly identical houses in 10 years.

and they're ending Star Wars in 2011...

also, why can't Lego make anything that appeals to older kids? Even the stupid MEGABLOKS has made Halo toys and whatnot, and is attracting plenty of fanboys.
