No, your completely merging the craft together as if you built it like that in the VAB, allowing you to build massive structures that can go through warp.  You can also transfer fuel and other resources while docked with other spacecraft.  They said awhile back that when they revisit IVA they are going to add crew transfer and stuff.

Ill start playing this again.  Me and a group of guys played this about a year ago, had TL 32 ships and were trying to get warp drives but we could never find anti-flux particles with high enough quality.

I would say yes, the gameplay is solid but the community is kind of lacking.  There are still a fair bit that play but it couldn't be more than 1k people.

I know the feeling Wehr, I had a build months in the making and 70k + bricks and lost it when I overwrote it with another save.  I had a backup but I hadn't saved it in ages.

A few months ago I would have agreed LLA was best, but the new administration is horrible.  Although the majority of the old wasn't very go either, they were way better than the current one. 

Baystation is great if you like rp and stuff.
TG station is best for stuffs n' giggles.

Yeah if it adds up to less than 700w go for it.  Just keep in mind when you upgrade you will probably have to get a better PSU.

I don't know what exactly you would need for that system, but a general rule is if you think its enough you should probably go one step further.  Never skimp out on a PSU, because if that thing goes out your out a thousand bucks.  I would probably buy a 1000w just to be safe and keep it future-proof.
