Off Topic / Question about computer power supply for gpu?
« on: May 13, 2012, 02:45:52 PM »
http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/graphics/ati-radeon-hd-5000/hd-5850/pages/ati-radeon-hd-5850-overview.aspx#3

From the above site:
"500 Watt or greater power supply with two 75W 6-pin PCI Express® power connectors recommended (600 Watt and four 6-pin connectors for ATI CrossFireX™ technology in dual mode)."
Let's say I had 4 of the above GPUs. Would that mean I'd need 2000 watts of power, plus enough for the other components of the computer?

(I'm not crossfiring the cards, just running 4 of them separately in a case.)

Two of my friends are known as Cyberbullies, and their new EP dropped.
Honestly, in my opinion, WXRNING is the only good song on the album, because it took them the longest, but give the other ones a listen if you wish.

Off Topic / Anyone a graphic artist? For T-shirts and such.
« on: April 30, 2012, 01:29:29 PM »
Is anyone a graphic artist, who can do cool designs for T-shirts?
It's not for the game I was talking about - a company showed interest in making my game.
This is for a tshirt business.
Let me know if you are an artist, or you know one. This will be a paid project.

EDIT: Draft logo.

Off Topic / Any vector artists out there? Does anybody know any?
« on: April 22, 2012, 10:37:53 PM »
Yes, I made another topic but I'm back - with a vengeance muahahhaso anyway

Does anyone make vector art or know anybody that does? I have a prototype of a game I'm making for iOS called Steamrush but I need art, obviously.

Taking advantage of that retina screen, wooo.

Sneaked into this yesterday. It's so loving incredible. It starts as a stereotypical horror movie, and then essentially reinvents horror stories as we know them.

Has anyone else seen it? Discuss.

My friend and I are gonna try to start a dedicated hosting service here in Los Angeles, California. (Hollywood to be specific.)
We'd be selling anywhere from 146 MB ram servers (around 2.50 bucks a month, holds like three players) all the way up to huge 6 gig servers (around 80 bucks, but an immense amount of players could be held).
Would you guys be interested in this stable, dedicated hosting?
Vote above! (and post, I'm curious to see who you are :cookieMonster:)

NOTE: This isn't being run out of our bedrooms - we're setting up dedicated rack server computers in hosting buildings in Hollywood.

Off Topic / I need a digital artist. For a game. Preferably vector.
« on: April 07, 2012, 05:59:06 PM »
So if you didn't see my other topic, Anti-Block graciously allowed me to use his idea for an iOS game.
I'm calling it SteamRush.
I need an artist for it. I'm not sure what the visual style or resolution is gonna be yet, so if there are any digital artists looking for something to do (and potentially be paid by), let me know.
I'll probably want it to be vectory art (think Angry Birds) but I'm not sure yet.

disclaimer: I have a friend of mine who might be able to do the art, so if they say yes then I won't need anyone else.

Off Topic / iPhone game concepts. LACK OF BRAINPOWER.
« on: April 06, 2012, 07:21:22 PM »
So I recently got hooked up with an Apple Developer license.
"I'M loving READY TO MAKE SOME APPS."
...and that's when I realized I have no idea what to make.

Do you guys have any iPhone/iPad game ideas you've been dying to get out there? I'm curious, because stuff, I can't think of anything.

Games / What should I do a Let's Play series on?
« on: April 06, 2012, 05:53:52 PM »
So I'm gonna make an LP series. The only problem is everything has been done. Minecraft has been run into the ground with LPs, Skyrim is running out of originality in them, etc.
What game should I do a series on? A mod? A map?

Off Topic / STEM Game Design Challenge!
« on: March 24, 2012, 07:29:29 PM »
So every year, the government hosts a game design competition called STEM Game Challenge, in which kids and teenagers submit games.
The winners from last year were absolute stuff, so my team (four of us) are pretty hopeful to win.
If we win, we each get a laptop with game design software, and our school gets 2000 dollars and the Institutional award ("you fostered these young minds, good for you! ~")
So basically there are a ton of categories, like Gamemaker, Kodu, and other stuff like that.
But luckily for us, we're a part of a whole different group categories, so we can't be upstaged by some 7th grader with a pen and a dream, who draws out his game on paper and wins (yes, the #1 winner last year just thought of his idea and concepted it - then again, that year they didn't have a high school or group category).

So we created a game that I thought was pretty cool, called Newtonian. You play as Isaac Newton and can reverse gravity and such.
http://www.2shared.com/file/1ytqvxk1/Newtonian.html
Try to get the collectible Newton-related items!
CONTROLS

Arrow key movement.
Shift to reverse gravity - once you gain the ability.
R to restart level.

Have fun, and let me know what you think! We tried to incorporate educational elements.
This was our first project created by the CHAMPS (our school) Game Design Club, so it's a little rough because there were some communication and pre-planning issues, but I thought it turned out pretty nice.
