Here are some problems from a study sheet I'm studying for a test tomorrow.
Could anyone help me, or point me in the right direction of where to find the information needed?
5. Show me mathematically why bigger bore pistons produce more force than smaller ones, given the same pressure behind them.
8. Explain why a tank of given volume at 100 psi of pressure holds twice as much air as the same tank at 50 psi.
10. If a tank has 100 cubic inches of volume, at 100 psi and is used to activate a piston with a bore of 12" and a stroke of 6", what will the pressure of the system be, and how many pounds of force are produced by the piston?
11. At 100 psi, if the hoses and fittings used in a piston of 12" bore and 6" stroke produce a flow coefficient of .371 (cubic inches/min/psi), how many cubic inches would be released into the cylinder in .1 sec?
12. how long would it take to fully extend the piston under no load?
13. if the extended piston was disconnected and vented to the atmosphere, pushed down upon with 50 pounds of force, and the flow coefficient of the fitting was .15, how long would it take to collapse the piston?
14. if the piston was reattached to the same tank (@100 psi), but with a regulator set to 27 psi, with the same flow coefficient as question 11, how long would it take to extend the piston, how many pounds of force would it be able to support once it filled, and what will the pressure be in the tank?
7. if a piston with a 1.25" bore and a 6" stroke are fired with a tank pressurized to 65 psi, how many pounds of force would it take to push the piston back down 3"?
9. assume the piston is supporting a 20 pound weight, and the hose pops off at the tank, letting all the air escape. if the flow coefficient is 100, how long will to fully collapse?
guys please help I'm so terrified for tomorrow's test
