Games / Re: china's impact on the future of videogames

If I owned a company, I would make sure I bend no knees to the government.
"paying taxes is for chumps"
curious how fast you'll go to jail for that
also pretty sure they will use force if necessary

it's always amused me that installing headless ubuntu has a large purple gui to walk through it
absurdly easy to install, but i wouldn't use it as a main computer

Off Topic / Re: WTF is with china censoring american stuff?

Linux is better than windows in every way
not in every way
not all programs that run on windows can run on linux easily
i do prefer linux servers over windows servers though

to be fair, it's a lot more dangerous for blizzard to not punish the hong kong player than to not punish an american
and removing the content before china has to tell them to remove it shows good faith towards trying to stay out of the protests

i don't think politics really belong in hearthstone, except between ingame species
it would make more sense for GTA to do a satire on the situation

I can't handle all these minecraft clones
you've had 6 years to get over it in this case

and cube world feels very different from minecraft
definitely doesn't feel like a clone

Modification Help / Re: WIP inefficient pathfinding algorithm

one idea to generate a nodemap could have the nodemap maker turn on a script, and walk/jump/crouch through the build a lot. then you can build a sort of basic framework which they can then augment/connect... but then again thats not much different than just making the nodes manually i suppose.
if that's done with a large amount of players, it gets amusing
players find strange jumpy puzzles to get around the map
AI starts using them and surprising normal people

hmm
annoying how photobucket blurs the old picture, i don't mind the watermark on old images quite as much as the blur
perhaps a website that takes that into account and stores an image on photobucket, then when requested it gets the photobucket image and uses that data to reproduce the original?
not saying to unblur, but store the data in a different format that can be retrieved
still runs into the issue is what if that site goes down

Off Topic / Re: Help me understand portal
« on: September 10, 2019, 01:01:14 AM »
I'm gonna guess that the dude would be fine. Assuming that there is still an infinitesimally  small space still between each portal/wall, and since there is now an infinite amount of portals, the dude would really be in an infinitely long tube and not be squished.
from the perspective of the world looking at the portals/person
portals don't actually contain any space in them, they're more like a mirror
once there's a portal on both of your arms, your arms would be touching eachother
if they go any farther, you start getting squished by yourself

from the perspective of the person
as the portals close in, the other yous also close in
there are an infinite number of other yous, but the infinite amount of space going forward is shrinking
so the ratio of yous per space is still getting too small and you get squished

oh interesting, didn't know that

so is this also targeted at things for <5 year olds, or also up to 10ish?

Suggestions & Requests / Re: research prints?
« on: September 10, 2019, 12:52:44 AM »
i mean, if you really need them that badly, you could just make your own
prints are pretty easy to make

theres a filter for nonmembers (aka not logged in users) that replaces these words to make the site more ad friendly
that's actually hilarious
because the internet is actually for "research"

also
do not want to be associated with this topic

why are TVs allowed to have ads on channels for children then?
