Off Topic / Re: Video Game Opinions - Favorite Gaming Device?
« on: March 03, 2011, 04:17:23 PM »
I like my Xbox 360.

I mainly use my computer for Indi games, for example, this and Minecraft.
But it's also obviously, the only such thing for PC-Only games, like Spore and Rollercoaster Tycoon. :3

I have bought a few games for both Console and PC before, though.
I have Fallout 3 on the Xbox, which I love, and I have it on the PC, mainly for modding and getting more out of it, away from the quests and storyline.

I voted 360 because I love my PC, but currently it's lacking in power and becoming outdated so I'm not enjoying PC gaming as much.
This is partially why I prefer my Console to my PC, too.
Games for Consoles are made so that the Console can always run them at it's best possible quality.
Also, my Xbox is always going to be top of the line for an Xbox.
I'm not going to find myself struggling with slow games because my Console has a bad graphics card, or not enough RAM.

I do need a new Graphics Card though for my computer (The rest runs beautifully) and I should be able to play some of my computer games to a better extent. Fallout 3 and TF2, primarily. As well as Spore (If I ever find my disc).

Off Topic / Re: Apparently, the internet has changed me.
« on: March 03, 2011, 04:10:44 PM »
I find I'm slightly more reserved after regularly using the internet and joining into online communities, primarily this one.

I also find I'm more emotional.

What I don't understand is how a friend can desert you because you've gotten a slight change to your personality.

I notice my friends go through little changes in personality all the time, and they see me change too.
It's part of growing up. But I have never lost a friend from someone changing the way they act.
All my friends and I have always just accepted each others personalities and tried to get on with them.

The only time I ever, ever hear of people falling out from "Changing" is between girls.
I've got no idea why, but you girls seem to be incapable of accepting any change in anyone.
Sounds rather tedious and boring.
Is that why girls always, always fall out and then make friends again around the age of Puberty?
I always noticed it, but only just thought about why girls always fight and boys tend to stay friends.
In fact, I've only ever lost friendship with girls, too. And always due to some change in someone's personality.

I once lost a good friend (girl) because apparantly I "Changed" when I went up to Secondary School and started making new friends.
Not only was she actually jealous of me having friends, but she expected me to not make new friends in a new school, in which almost half of the children in my entire county at the same age as me end up visiting.

Anyway, enough about me. I waffle on too much. Another traight I've sort of picked up from here too.

But yeah, as cliche as it sounds, if she's not accepting your slightest changes, then she likely isn't a friend anymore.
That or you'll just become friends again soon.

I dunno. Just chin up about it. Having a fight with a friend isn't the end of the world.
Also, you now have the Internet as a friend. A friend with many, many talents. :S

Gallery / Re: [WIP] Cathedral

<3 Cathedrals and Churches.

It looks really, really cool.
I really like the windows.
8/10

I can't quite tell, but are the bricks making the walls stacked in a brick-stack pattern?
Because if they are, adding in the odd close shade of grey in there randomly can add more colour to the cathedral, without it obviously looking silly.
You might want to just give it a test and see if you like the odd spot of different shades in a couple of places.
I find that it usually on stone-work builds, makes them look more realistic, because it would be almost impossible to make any large stone structure made with the exact same stone. If you look at old cathedrals and churches, the bricks in them are often slightly different shades as they're made from a different stone, or a tarnished stone.

It's worth a try to see if you like it.
But even without, I really love it so far.
If you ever finish, or start on it, I'd love to get a different view at the roof.

Off Topic / Re: Child Punishment and your views on it.
« on: March 02, 2011, 01:03:01 PM »
A teacher at my school once told me/the class that he hits his children when they're very naughty.
Of course he doesn't mean belting them, but a firm slap that will hurt, but not badly, if you understand.

He only hits them though, because he believes it's a natural idea.
He used the brown townogy of a child, or anyone, doing something bad and getting hurt.
Say you stick your hand in a fire. It hurts, a lot. It hurts and that pain sticks in your mind and you don't ever do it again. It's your body and brain's way of telling you that what you've done is dangerous and it is not good to do.
So, he sees the idea of making a child feel a light bit of physical pain for doing something very naughty as a natural idea, as that bit of pain also sticks into your mind, and the child know's that what they have done is dangerous for them and will get them hurt.
Which is true, because in cases where someone is so bad that they need a little physical punishment, it is generally based on the child having done something dangerous, whether that is physically dangerous, or even a crime, which has it's dangers.

General Discussion / Re: Cool Intro and Effect
« on: March 01, 2011, 07:09:54 PM »
I liked the intro.
It was pretty cool.

For the Blockland title thing, however, don't make the word scan across the screen in that direction.
If it moves from left to right, then the end of the word gets seen first.
If it moves right to left, the beginning of the word is seen, and it rolls on as if saying it.

It's like watching someone say DNALKCOLB instead of BLOCKLAND.
You read the ending before the beginning which is just weird.

You're an ass.
When you made a comment like yours it was obvious that someone would go and search it up?
You wouldn't have posted at all if you didn't want people to see!

Ze German was because of some WorldWar build I was on.
My Virginity was because of a welcome message saying "Hey look, it's [player name]!"
Elbood was when my brother was playing.
And that was definitely not Dooble.

I was never beaten as a young child, and I was never severely punished.
I was given a smack on the bum when I misbehaved, and I didn't like it.
I was only ever given it a few times, and not for ordinary misbehaviour. I had to have done something that I should have known not to do.
I never disliked my parents for punishing me, I just disliked being punished.
Since I disliked being punished, slightly because I didn't want a smack on the bum, and also because I have a fear of confrontation, I actively try not to do naughty things.
Of course every now and then, the childness of myself gets through and I do something I shouldn't have, or I get moody and angry and rotten, but I don't go hanging off the walls, starting fights and breaking the law.

I have had a very good pair of parents, and my grandparents have always been at hand to help, and I've always been taught right from wrong.
I know that I don't do wrong, or atleast majorly wrong (Everyone's naughty occasionally), and I credit that to having been given reasons not to do wrong (smacked bum) and being taught what was right and wrong.

Also be aware that a smacked bum didn't mean I  was belted or properly walloped. It was a... light slap.
It's hard to explain. It wasn't nice, but it wasn't harmful. And it was done through fabric.

I personally find that the idea of inflicting physical punishment on a child is a fair enough thing to do.
I don't however, agree with people who simply just use physical punishment and expect it to be a detterance.
I don't agree with people who are then abusive with physical punishment.
There is a very fine line between an uncomfortable smack on the bum and properly smacking your child in a way that's going to greatly hurt them, bruise them even, and make them fear you and punishment more than regretting what they did.

It's all very odd, according to my friends, the way I view this subject.
I actively see people who misbehave, cause havok and endanger other people in school and on the streets, who I believe simply needed a thorough parenting and a smack on the bum as a child.
I believe that schools would have an easier time on their hands if they were able to hit unruly children.

Of course it would need to be monitored, so you don't get abusive teachers who hit everyone all the time, even the child who was simply speaking out of turn once.
But, if done right, and it's mildly used, I'm sure it would be an active deterrance to the children in school who actively rebel, cause fights with other students and staff, consistently interupt other childrens education, and who also rile up other children to be as bad as them. They're a bad influence, and if you influence them in a way that stops them from wanting to be punished, such as not doing anything to warrant punishment, I'm sure you'll see a turn around in schools these days.

It was on BBC's Panorama last night about schools that have had military concepts brought into the schools to teach the children manners, and to prevent them from being so horrible.
These schools that have a military concept to them have almost no trouble with students at all.
And these are still in schools that can't hit a child. They just use so much authority, as well as giving the children a place of well belonging, in a military influenced life.

Anyway, that's my opinion, or what I can currently think of on child punishment.
With a good lifestyle, it goes a long way to bring up proper children.
If done wrong, it's terrible and ineffective.
Schools ought to be able to moderatley, and in a monitored format, be allowed to inflict punishment on the unruliest of students as a deterrance.
Children simply need a controlling, comfortable and guiding life-style, and sometimes a deterrance from doing the stupidly wrong.
There is nothing wrong with being a child and doing something slightly naughty, but if it's a really bad sort of thing that shouldn't be done at all, then it deserves some form of punishment to deter.

I didn't really read the rest of the topic, I just answered OP's request.

What's surprising about this is that you're 13. I think the 1k ID timespan was in 2007, so you were 9 when you bought the game.

Does it scare anyone else that Blockland's forums are raising so many kids?
I'm sure there are worse places to raise a kid than here.

But I may be very, very wrong.
