Off Topic / College Discussion Topic!
« on: October 16, 2013, 07:13:42 PM »
I am in the 10th grade currently, and thinking hardly about where I want to attend, and I know that I definitely don't want to go to a community college or a public college however it's hard to find excellent universities with every specific course you would want to partake in. I am thinking about Brandeis, as they have certain courses which I'd be interested in partaking in. I've also considered a few other universities to go to after I finish high school and get my diploma, but I am not focusing on ivy-league schools, a lot of them don't offer the best educations. It's really a matter of how you use your education, and a matter of motivation and wanting to actually learn. In reality, any sort of education could do us good.

What universities do you want to apply to and/or get into?

Off Topic / Collectors thread: What do you collect?
« on: October 14, 2013, 11:12:14 AM »
I've been collecting LEGO's recently, and some LEGO sets. I used to collect pine-cones but there wasn't really anything too rewarding about them unlike LEGO's which increase in value over time. Most people I know collect sea shells, and older comics. Pez is common with collectors too.

Blizzards and tornadoes are already storming through America's Rockies already in the beginning of October. Snow in October isn't that unheard of, but blizzards? I think it's becoming a huge concern. In the past 2 years, oceans slightly above and below the equator have been experiencing so much activity. The Gulf of Mexico has been so active this year, it's insane. As a result of this, a tropical storm known as "Karen" has formed and it is currently a bit far from Louisiana and Mississippi's shoreline. A handful of forecasters predict this will form into a very minor hurricane, but look at what happened with Irene; everyone thought it would be terrible and it wasn't as bad as people thought. And then, Sandy happened and nobody predicted it to be that devastating. Good news is that Karen is currently weakening and stalling off the Gulf.

Prediction of where Karen will hit [credit to Philly.com for the image]:

It is confusing to logically think about how many damaging storms are taking place all at once. If any of you are in the path of the tropical storm which **might** form into a hurricane, my condolences -- same to people in the path of the widespread tornadoes and blizzards.

I had many abscenses last year and was almost held back because of it and every one of those absences were days that I was sick with fevers. I don't want to repeat the same this year, and I am trying my hardest to do my very best. It's night time at the moment and it's why my cold has turned into a fever. My parents left me the option if I feel like I have to stay home or not and I do not want to. During school-hours its just the bad cold which is there (the fever only occurs during the night and early morning). I don't think it's worth it to stay home though since the fever is only predominant after school-hours. I also don't want to give my fever/cold to other kids in the school, but half of my school is sick however most come in with it which is how I got mine.

Is it worth staying home? I need outsider opinions. I wanna try to have 0 abscenses this school year.

Suggestions & Requests / Interactive dog NPC (an add-on suggestion)
« on: October 01, 2013, 06:25:22 PM »
How it would work:

With the dog NPC you'd be able to treat it as a regular dog for example. If your dog is tired it would start releasing "Zzzzzz...." noises which means it wants to go to sleep. If the dog would want to be walked you'd be able to tell when the tail of the dog starts wagging. If the dog wanted to be fed you would just press Q and give the dog a brick to eat (I realize the brick part is not realistic), and each dog would come with a hunger level GUI with 5 lines. 1 line would mean the dog is starving, 2 lines would mean the dog is hungry but not starving, 4 lines would mean the dog is semi-hungry, and 5 lines would mean that the dog is not hungry. If the dog wanted to drink water you could tell by the dogs thirst level which would be a GUI which came with the add-on. If the dog wanted to be pet you would know if it started jumping on you or following you and by just clicking on the dog would satisfy the dog's attention needs.

I would like to see feedback. If anyone wants to use my idea, I'd be glad!

Kenya's famous Weatgate mall has been held up for almost a day now, in an upscale area in Nairobi. The terrorist organization behind this is doing this as retaliation for Kenyan troops being in Somalia. More than 59 are dead, and a couple hundred are severely injured from rifle and grenade wounds. Kenya's Prime Minister has said that justice will be served, and the Somali people should expect consequence.

NEWS>>>>Westgate Mall is under attack still, several hostages are still in the mall -- shots still being fired

Somalia is instigating a war. I don't see this ending well.

A good summary on the situation: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/23/world/africa/nairobi-mall-shooting.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

Off Topic / I went to the beach for the first time in my life today.
« on: September 21, 2013, 09:32:43 PM »
It was amazing. I was scared to walk barefoot in the sand mainly because I thought it was dirty, boy did I change my mind. It felt amazing walking in the sand and having the water tides coming along my toes and feet and the wind blowing and gusting upon my face. I am glad that I experienced it.

When was the first time you've been on a beach? And how did it feel?

Off Topic / Is Detroit the future of many other American cities?
« on: September 20, 2013, 10:02:57 PM »
I've been brown townyzing this with critical logical thinking for the past two years and it's been getting to me now and making sense. American cities tend to borrow so much money from sister cities (other cities they partner with and do trade and business with), and city council members of these cities and mayors borrow more money than they could ever get. It then turns into debt with all of these loans they are expected to give and it all adds up until the point where either almost every city service has to be cut financially or eliminated, or the city files for bankruptcy completely. Detroit used to be the auto capital of the world, it was also home to the American dream which does not seem as visible anymore. The American dream is no more. Many cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, and Miami borrow so much and fail to pay it back. If they keep doing this just like Detroit did then they will be just as bad as Detroit or worse. Chicago is already falling into crumbles, Miami is doing badly financially too, and same with most major Mid-West cities. Las Vegas is doing awfully too because the recession hit them hard but luckily they made it back up. We really cannot repeat history again. History is suppose to teach us human-beings what we shouldn't do in the future and we don't seem to be learning from our history and failures. Detroit is broke as a joke, the man who was once in charge of their education system could not even read or spell, America doesn't realize how bad Detroit is doing. If we don't wake up in time, it will be too late. It's bad enough that we're already going down culturally, financially, economically, and socially. I think city budgets need to be controlled more professionally. Many other American cities are going on the same path as Detroit did such as Toledo, OH, Buffalo, NY, and many other cities.

The problem is too many things are not regulated, and the middle class are a dying people.

What is your take on this matter? Will many American cities turn into ghost towns like Detroit in later years if they keep their ways up?

« on: September 15, 2013, 10:00:41 AM »
I have a twin brother and we're just so oppositional! It's like we disagree on every single thing. We have nothing in common too!

Does anyone else have sibling problems?

Off Topic / What animals have you always been interested in?
« on: September 13, 2013, 09:10:58 PM »
I've always had a great interest in dolphins, turtles and tortoises, elephants, and penguins. Animal behaviors are really fascinating for me. I have greater respects for animals which don't bring a threat to other living things.

Suggestions & Requests / A game-mode where you have to snipe people
« on: September 07, 2013, 03:52:23 PM »
It would have a map cycle. The point of the game-mode would be to have sneak attacks. It would be slower paced, and it would be different in comparison to your typical TDM.

About the map:

You'd basically be in an ancient Arab village, and the objective is to snipe your opponents from dozens of feet away either on rooftops, trenches, or in buildings/windows. The game-mode would have classes too, such as:

-Rebels
-Civilians
-Government Military Officers
-Threats (radicals/terrorists)

In the game-mode you'd spawn with snipers and land-mines. I said before, it's slow paced which means you don't just go and shoot others; it takes strategy, tactics, and logical thinking. In the game-mode there would also be a modification which would be available for others to download separately (it would be a GPS showing the map and where the nearest enemies are/if any enemies are around you in your area).

I think this is more of a request than an idea because I really want somebody to make this into the real thing.

If someone can turn my idea into a real game-mode, I'd be thrilled.
