I found this interesting work in progress on IndieDB, and I know a lot of you on the forum would be interested in playing because this is a sandbox. I first thought that this was just another Minecraft clone- well it isn't technically, it is solely about inventing and open-world building with few limitations. It's also to play around with physics too.

Quotes from the IndieDB page:

Brick Inventions is a physics based game. Basically, you have a large variety of different blocks which you can place in the world to build almost everything you can imagine. The game contains different game modes where you can build things or invent machines, master different challenges or play against other players in exciting multiplayer battles.

Singleplayer
In this mode there are levels with different kinds of challenges. Amongst others, these include building defences to avoid your crown from falling off the podium, shooting down target buildings or erecting high and stable buildings.

Sandbox
This mode is for everyone who just wants to build awesome stuff without having to care about enemies or things like that.

Inventor mode
This mode allows you to create and test your defences, weapons and machines. If you are happy with one of them, just save it and you will be able to place it in your single- or multiplayer-game with one click. The game automatically calculates how many materials you need.

Multiplayer
Brick Inventions also has a multiplayer mode to play against other players. Here you can use your buildings and machines created in Inventor mode or just build everything block by block. The basic concept of the multiplayer is that every player has a crown on a podium which he has to protect. To win the game you have to upgrade and protect your producers to generate materials which are needed to build things.

Brick Inventions would be the ideal game for someone who is very creative and who has many ideas for objects, figures, as well as contraptions.

I think Brick Inventions is just one of those indie games which will do well mainly because it's a sandbox focused on building.

The game's page on IndieDB: http://www.indiedb.com/games/brick-inventions

The developers Blogspot page which features developmental news for the entire game: http://brickinventions.blogspot.com/

It has no expected release date, but I talked to the developer and he just said "we will try our hardest to implement all the things needed for the game, and then release it when it is ready to be played by the public".

Off Topic / Have you ever drank vegan milk before? [Vegan Milk Topic!]
« on: September 03, 2013, 07:42:36 PM »
I'm conducting this poll to see how many of you drink vegan milk.

About vegan milks: Many people drink them rather than milk from cow's or goats because their body cannot take lactose. Vegan milks can derive from many different sources such as hemp, soy, rice, almonds, and oats. A lot of individuals also prefer vegan milks because they like the taste of them rather than animal-based milks. Many vegan milks tend to be sweeter and thinner compared to regular milk. Hemp milk tends to have a thicker consistency though. Vegan milks sometimes have added sweeteners already in them by default, or the sweeteners are all natural.

I've had rice milk, soy milk, and hemp milk before. I'm still looking forward to having oat milk, and almond milk. In my opinion, rice milk is very watery and too thin, and soy milk is usually alright but it has a weird natural flavoring.

If you want, you can also discuss anything pertaining to vegan milks on this thread, even your thoughts on the particular drink you had. (If I did not list every vegan milk, please list on a post which I forgot).

It's been said that the fires in the national park are as big as the American Texas city of Dallas. Many homes have been lost, and many people have evacuated because of the extreme conditions occurring. 6% of Yosemite National Park is currently under flames. Firefighters have found it impossible to relieve the fires, one factor is because the winds keep blowing which causes it all to spread further. 220,000 acres are currently burning. Due to the severity of these widespread fires; military is being drafted in to use drones to tackle the fires.

There has also been many more crucial wildfires across Spain and Portugal just recently, one being in a Portuguese forest.  16 were reported to be dead. 500 firefighters are working at this time to get the flames out.

Forum Games / Write your own story or sentence with given words!
« on: August 30, 2013, 10:27:24 PM »
Concept: Write your own little story or paragraph using up to 2-7 given words by the above poster at least once. When the given words by the above poster are used, then the next poster has to provide new words.

I'll show an example:

Pokemonperson133337 (example): Mary Lamb Jam

Me (example): Mary had a little lamb, the lamb was named jam! Jam liked to eat hay, and be pet by his owner. Jam also liked to play with his farm buddies -- including Harry the horse and Gary the cow!

I'll start you guys off with 4 words: Ride Bike Over Bridge

Nouns will also be allowed! Also please don't use profane words, it sort of ruins the game

Games / What year do you think has been the best for indies?
« on: August 29, 2013, 04:20:30 PM »
(I think this was placed in the right section, if not I hope a mod can move this).

I think 2010 was really the starting year for many indie games (especially multiplayer ones). A lot of people say that Minecraft was the indie pioneer because it inspired so many to make their own indies. I don't believe so though because many other great indies came out before it, but they weren't as popular. 2012 was also another great year for the indie gaming world, but it was also bad because many online games especially indies had to shutdown too because they lacked funding.

« on: August 27, 2013, 07:03:33 PM »
I was at BubbaGum's Freebuild server today, and I had an idea of making a greenhouse, so I did. I asked people in the server if they wanted to help, and nice enough a few people volunteered to do so. I am glad my idea came true, and here it is. I now present it to you.

CREDITS TO: Freek, xXXx, and 007 James Bond (Thank you Freek for uploading the pictures, and I give you credit for building over 75% of this build, thank you all for your contributions -- especially you Freek!).

I would be happy if you could all rate this from a scale from 1/10, this was the first time I've ever worked on a build (collab build) as big as this before.

I think I would, but imagine how bad everything would be if there was ever a tornado, mass flooding, a blizzard, or any type of natural disaster. I doubt that even 3 layers of LEGO bricks could hold something together.

A photograph of a home made out of LEGO's:

A video of the LEGO house: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OC1nTGje0pw

James May, the Top Gear presenter and the host of his show Toy Stories constructed that house from pure LEGO's. Yes, I realize it does look quite silly, but it's fascinating how a house could be built from just a basis of LEGO toy bricks, it's remarkable.

It would probably be very unrealistic to have a whole city made out of 100% LEGO bricks, but who knows what could happen in the future.

Forum Games / The Country Game -- A worldly and opinionated game
« on: August 25, 2013, 10:15:16 PM »
How it works:

You say a country (any country) then the poster below you will list another country, and he will list if the country he listed is better or worse than the above country listed.

I'll start as an example:

Example: Uganda

Below poster: Kenya - better

I'll do another example!

Example: Uruguay

Me: Argentina - better

If you have any questions on how this works, please message me.

A brief description of the game:

Quote
And Then There Was One is a four player stealth game in which players assassinate targets or other assassins within a crowd. To avoid death either blend into your surroundings, be the first to kill your targets, or fake your death to be the last assassin standing. Your assignment can take place within a quiet family park, a disco dance floor or at a busy city intersection.

This game was created by a developer named Bleep Bloop (no, it is not his real name but it is the nickname he goes by). The game was made with the notable and unusual engine known as "LÖVE".

I am uncertain on whether there will ever be an increased multiplayer player count. I think having only 4 people is too little, but it could work out.

PHOTOS:

I know the characters look like paper sock-puppets lol. It's just the style of it. "And Then There Was One" kind of reminds me of a mix between Animal Crossing and Earthbound. The main thing to remember is that you basically play as a hit-man in a way in this game.

WHEN IS THIS RELEASING?

Excellent question, it's expected to come out on August 30th of this year! It's only 6 days from now until the release of this.

WILL IT BE FREE?

I'm not sure, the developer never mentioned anything about it's price tag. Hopefully it will be free though.

I'm really excited for this. I think 2013 is just the year for great indies.

I really don't think that it did, it was a spectacular addition to the game though, and sadly it had to go. I mean, after all we are Blockland and I think builds and servers look a lot better with just bricks and blocks. I do admit though, building has become pretty limited without interiors and maps. I've seen a few reviews of Blockland by notable YouTubers (with 500-20k subscribers). Mostly everyone said this was a great game, but not worth $20. I think it's worth much more than $20.

Do you feel as if BL is lacking something? (Also please don't say bring back maps and interiors, because it probably won't happen).

Quote from Stronghold2D's IndieDB page:

Quote
In Stronghold 2D, there's going to be a lot of room for upgrades and advances. We can create any type of object, and why not, maybe even a gun that shoots reverse gravity bullets! Or even a nuclear bomb that will clear out an entire city in Stronghold2D. Not just the ammo can be replaceable though, you'll also be able to advance your mining building so you can earn more money fast! But like everything else in the game, you have to earn the money by defending your territory and defeating anyone near you.

Stronghold2D is expected to release sometime this November. You can also find it on Kickstarter here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1604325867/stronghold-2d-multiplayer-mobile-game

Another quote:

Get ready for an intense 2D physics multiplayer game for your Android and iOS devices. The whole point of Stronghold2D is to grow and expand your Base (also known as your Stronghold) and defeat everyone in your path. This 2D game is very much like Angry Birds, but you build your own Base and work towards upgrading your buildings, ammo, and structural objects. Become a 2D Empire! We are currently listed on Kickstarter!

I think that this indie looks promising, although it doesn't seem too original. It's been said that this game WILL BE FREE. It'll also be optimized for almost any OS thinkable.

What do you guys think of this?

147
I think I would, but only if it was close to me. I'd be nervous meeting people who I've only known on a game. I like Blockland a lot though, so I think it'd be worth attending if there ever was one.

Also if there was a real life Blockland convention, where do you think it should be in?
