Assuming they're not poor, their hospital should provide marijuana.

Assume they are poor, have no insurance, and the hospital has a high fee for it, would it be appropriate for a privately-run charity to step in, or the Government?

You are completely missing the point of gifted education.
There is not a shortage of special education classes in schools. The legislation for special education is actually very strong and children with IEPs and 504 plans are entitled to getting help in school. Both documents are legally-binding too.

What is the point of it? For children who learn at a faster pace, and need more advanced material? I know what the purpose of it is, and the intent of it but with all due respect, their parents can pay out of pocket for tutoring outside or inside school. I am talking about heavier laws toward bullying the disabled, trying to get many of the disabled people into the regular world, and trying to help them get onto the same academic level as others. I realize some disabled people are not mentally equipped for it, but some are if we invest enough in our kids.

If you want to help the disabled or the poor or some third world country you should start a private charity, it is not the government's job.

I do believe, that it is not the Government's job to look out for the people of foreign nations. With that being said, I also do believe that the people of the country the Government is looking after are far more important. ALTHOUGH, when it comes to an important issue like this; the Government has every right to involve itself in helping the disabled. It's like helping critically ill people who are about to die and need medical marijuana but don't have access to it since it isn't legal in their state, as that is their last option, should that be a private charity's job or the Government's?

or we could lower spending and not have a bunch of programs that don't actually help anyone

Now this is an incredibly ridiculous argument, the notion that we shouldn't help disabled people is preposterous.

The Government still has to provide Benefits, its there job

The job of the Government is to not provide benefits for the people. The sole purpose of the Government is for them to look over the people. Handouts are not what a Government should give.

Dumb liberals blubber about inequality, but the real inequality here would be if people working at McDonalds get paid close to what the average Nurse gets per year, that'd be a real insult. To think all those years of schooling would be for nothing. Salary inequality? My ass! Look, I know executives are paid an overwhelming amount, but that is a tiny amount of people in the country.

I have some thoughts

Our public education is rated pretty low in the industrialized world, maybe schools are failing to prepare kids in giving them skills to survive in the free market? Or how about forcing everyone through the same educational standard rather than increasing access to vocational training and gifted programs to adequately help people find their respective role in the free market.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Obama had significantly lowered the criteria for welfare

I agree, and kids older than 16 who choose to fight and hit other people and become aggressive should be thrown out of the school system. Instead of adding gifted classes, we should be adding more programs for the disabled. If they were so gifted, then they could compete with regular performing kids. Gifted classes are props for parents.

All I can say is this: the problem is not the gun, it is the person behind the gun. The person is controlling the gun; the gun is not controlling itself. Without the person, the gun wouldn't shoot. This is why I believe there should be more regulations done when it comes to who can own a gun and who cant.

https://www.healthcare.gov/do-i-qualify-for-medicaid/
it says at the first sentence, I have Free healthcare btw

It doesn't say you have it, it says that you must have a certain income level. Keep in mind, it's a very long process to be enrolled into Medicare or Medicaid, not to mention even if you are on the qualified income level you still run the risk of being rejected.

The two main purposes of owning a gun are to hunt, and for protection. Keep in mind, many Americans hunt for food in rural areas and that is the way of life. Some Americans also live in very impoverished neighborhoods, where the chance of them living tomorrow is 50/50 - this is where a firearm becomes useful. I do not think that heavy automatic weapons should be allowed, but other guns should be. I also am a firm believer in heavy mental background checks and criminal background checks in order to obtain a gun permit and to purchase a firearm.

I somehow think if you work in a low pay job it should be like this:

IF you have a family and take the Government's Free healthcare program, it should be a Benefit that you get payed higher, This is just like how Families get family benefits. To sum it up, it should be a Benefit for higher income if you Qualify.

In America, healthcare is surely not free. It is mostly privatized and sold for a premium, unless you are retired and over the age of 65.

its amazing how brainwashed americans are. so many in strong support of free market. when they arent even the ones that get anything out if it.
they were taught to love it and tbey beliebe they do lol

I agree with Bisjac. It is pretty pathetic, considering the overwhelming American population doesn't benefit from it. Not to mention, millions of Americans are on government welfare which does say something.

Off Topic / What do you think of the minimum wage being lifted?
« on: July 30, 2014, 04:31:05 PM »
When I say being lifted, I mean enough money to meet livable standards. I will say this:

If you have 5 kids and cant afford your bills, dropped out of high school, and under 21 and have a cashier job at McDonalds; that isn't anyone else's fault but yours. You chose to drop out of high school, have kids at a very young age, and not to mention - not 1 kid BUT 5! If you wanna make more, then you go back to school, or find a different job. It is ridiculous to think that people expect the minimum wage to be livable. In any society, it won't work like that. You have to actually do something to increase your salary. I grant you, a job as a sweeper wasn't created for the purpose of being a permanent job; it is a side thing, or a job you'd have in your youth.

I believe that the people can benefit from a free market, but then there are many rather 'unlucky ones' who are victims of the free market. Those are people who work hard (and I'd give an example: laborers), and don't get much out of it. The people who do benefit from a free market, are predominantly investors, entrepreneurs and professionals (doctors, lawyers, professors, etc).

I won't say which type of economy I think is more beneficial, but I think we'd be much better off with more government regulations. Although, you cant always feel sorry for the poor guy. Some people make it, and some don't. Many dopey liberals complain about the 1% controlling everything, and not contributing, and all of that hokum, but you know what? Most of them are self-made earners and a lot of them worked from the bottom up, saved their money, and were wise financially. You cant get anywhere in life if you keep complaining about the guy at the top of the game. You can however, work your way up and become that guy at the top. Anyone can, you just have to play it smart. In any career you can move up and up.
