You have to swap the GUI back to want of was before. So if you're editing the admin GUI while you are in a server, you need to swith the GUI you are editing to PlayGUI before you press F10.

It isn't a bug, it's just how the editor works.

I hate McAffee. I had been using it since the early 90s, since I could get a cheap subscription through AOL. A few years ago I learned about AVG, and figured I'd start using it as soon as my registration for McAffee expired. I did and I've never had a problem with it.

Issues I've had with McAffee over the years:

McAffee provided a free firewall hidden in their program I didn't know about and blocked IRC communication.
They decided to duplicate windows system restore, now I've got a drive partition I didn't want.
Bloated with features I never used and had to disable in some cases.

AVG, Spybot Search and Destroy, a good router to use as a firewall, a secure browser and common sense has kept me virus free for several years now.

In my opinion, shoving a filter on a computer and thinking your job is done as a parent is one of the most irresponsible things you can do. I'm sure I'll get lots of QFTs if I just left it at that, so I'll post something I know you'll disagree with. There's is a pretty good case for censorship to a degree, and if you want to slap a filter on the web while your child is you go ahead. But don't forget your own childhood. Don't try and tell me you didn't know about love until your parents sat you down and told you about the birds and the bees. You probably looked up certain naughty words in the dictionairy with a couple of friends and started giggling about them.  You probably said one at the dinner table once and got your mouth washed out with soap. Even if you didn't, you probably knew someone who did and picked it up from them. You can't monitor every vector as a parent, and you shouldn't try to. Instead, take a close look at the failings of abstinance only love education. It didn't stop kids from having love, it just made them do it unsafely.

As hard as it is, you'll have to admit to yourself that you aren't going to be able to stop someone from looking at research once they've started. They'll look for every possible way around.

Instead, tell them to be careful what they download, because they'll infect the computer with nasty trojans, and then you'll have to kick they're ass. Warn them that if it starts to get in the way of visiting grandma/doing charity work/saving the world, you'll have to moderate their time. And if they're interested in any sort of career in politics, they'd better stop now.

Mapping Help / Re: DTS/OBJ to dif?
« on: January 29, 2009, 08:22:06 AM »
There's a tutorial somewhere on setting up blender to model only in convex shapes and to convert concave polygons into convex ones, which should import fine into quark or hammer or export as a .map file.

I'm not sure where it is though.

I'd like to draw your attention to this

Don't post full songs because...
  1.  No one wants to wait for that crap to download from your server
  2.  I don't want to get beat down by the RIAA

Limit yourselves to looping songs that are < 500kb in size.

PS.  Someone figure out which files aren't appropriate and remove them or report them using the "report to moderator" link, please.

Some of your songs are way over the 500kb limit.

Wait, you can have signatures hang off the edge of the profile?

If I didn't know  that it would stretch the page on other resolutions, I would make a signature with a stick figure breaking down that line at the edge of the box profile box, with blue stuff spilling out into the white part of the website.

I'd rather pay for the DLC in real money instead instead of getting stuck with 200 spare intergalactic space bucks I'll never use.

But there's posts all over the Bethesda forums for getting the content out of the Windows LIVE folder and moving your saves back to the old system so that after you download it you'll never have to deal with LIVE again, so maybe I will get it.

Apparently it is a temp file folder that comes with XP.

It's actually a folder that comes with most XP installations for copyright reasons because of some kind of deal Microsoft made with Xerox in the past.

You'll notice you can't delete it. There's also a folder called microsoft frontpage with a folder called version3.0 inside of it (and a folder called bin inside of that), it can't be deleted either. You'll have it even if you never installed frontpage.

I can probably do that.

Any specifics pertaining to time and day?
Also I'm in EST, for the record.

I live in EST too, so don't worry about it too much.

Actually getting a working server will be a bigger problem. Form what I can tell, you'll need to install both the free dedicated server (FDS) package and the APB client. I'm not sure in what order, nor am I sure how exactly it works. It may turn out you'll have to host on another machine if you want to join your own server. You can pick which ports you want to host it on, but the whole hosting process doesn't look easy. We might have to push it to another week and spend this one trying to get it to work.

They don't have a master server like we do, so they actually manually post server information to some kind of in-game bulletin board I think. All you need to do to host a private server is post the IP on the forums where it will be unlikely for people to stumble across.
