According to a recent survey, 100 per cent of female professionals said they had been subjected to loveual harassment by their bosses

I'm slightly skeptical.

Games / Re: Half life 1 LAST LEVEL WITH GMAN
« on: August 30, 2008, 02:21:10 PM »
HL1 uses impulse 101. But you can also add each item/ammo individually.

My half-life game had a glitch. At the part where the assassins turn out the lights, beat you up, and then throw you in the trash compactor, the lights stayed off forever and the level never changed. I had to change the level manually, then use the console to give me back my HEV suit and possibly the crowbar.

And before this, on my previous install, there was a glitch where the only weapon I could use was the revolver, I couldn't even change the weapon through the console.

Mapping Help / Re: This map is so glitched...

Code: [Select]
   new TerrainBlock(Terrain) {
      rotation = "1 0 0 0";
      scale = "1 1 1";
      terrainFile = "./ocean.ter";
      bumpTexture = "./sand1";
      squareSize = "16";
      bumpScale = "5";
      bumpOffset = "0.0051";
      zeroBumpScale = "5";
      RepeatTerrain = "1";
   };

This is the terrainblock. To view it, you need to open ocean.mis in notepad. Each of the fields you see corresponds to a field in the mission editor. For a frame of reference, terrainFile and bumpTexture would usually be under the Media heading, I believe.

You need to change the square size to 8. That is all. You're probably going to have to redo your terrain after this, but it shouldn't take long.

Here, you can copy and paste it.

Code: [Select]
   new TerrainBlock(Terrain) {
      rotation = "1 0 0 0";
      scale = "1 1 1";
      terrainFile = "./ocean.ter";
      bumpTexture = "./sand1";
      squareSize = "8";
      bumpScale = "5";
      bumpOffset = "0.0051";
      zeroBumpScale = "5";
      RepeatTerrain = "1";
   };

Yeah, well, I figured that out, but I'm still basically asleep and I wasn't expecting it. And I've never actually cleared or formatted a drive, they usually don't last long enough for me to need to clean them. :(

I'm pretty sure no one would publish something that just ate your computer the moment you put it in the floppy drive.

I have Alpha Centauri installed on my computer from 1999. I also have the 1998 Half Life disk, Rainbow Six (1998), and Return to Zork (1993), among other games.

If you type your original Sierra CD key into Steam it gives you the half-life 1 anthology pack.

Fine.

I saw a nice unlabeled green one. I thought it would probably work well enough for notes and stuff. I put it in my computer and:

It started automatically, and I didn't realize it was doing anything until I checked the log. So I was like, stuff, what got deleted. I checked my drive and found out all it did was write over the blank space on the drive with lots of 0s.

So it's not the end of the world, but it did scare me for a few minutes. Especially since it's only 7:30 in the morning and I'm still basically asleep.

Why anyone would leave killdisk lying around innocently is a mystery.

Put it in a savings account but don't expect much.

I'll go get you some real numbers, I have a bank statement from my savings account lying around somewhere.

Between April and May my dividend was 83 cents. Between May and June my dividend was 86 cents. Between June and July I made 77 cents. Since the beginning of the year, I've made $5.21. Enough to buy two egg salad sandwiches and a soda from the convenience store across the street! Awesome!

Mapping Help / Re: How do I install map2dif?
« on: August 27, 2008, 09:02:33 PM »
map2dif is an exporter. It doesn't have any interface at all. Basically, when you start it up, you're telling it to do the set of instructions you sent to it. Since you haven't given it any instructions, it just closes. There are two ways to get it to do what you want:

a. Get a program like Quark or Torque Constructor to do it for you. This is easy and highly recommended.
b. Use the command prompt. There are instructions on how to do this here.

As for installing map2dif, depending on what program you are using, it is different. Torque Constructor automatically sets it up for you. You can get Torque Constructor here. If you are using quark, follow this tutorial.

Tutorials for using both Torque Constructor and Quark can be found all over the Internet. I know Quark has video tutorials that cover everything from making a map to exporting it to loading it in Torque. I don't know about Torque Constructor, but it is easier to learn. It also handles 3d rendering a lot better than Quark. If you want complicated shapes like a sphere or torus, Quark is your best bet. Torque Constructor hates them. I use both, and frequently move interiors in progress back and forth between them to do different things.
