Games / Re: Blockland-Inspired Project - New Video pg.54

New video uploaded! This is just a simple test of the current idle, walk and jump animations for the player avatar. It's still a work in progress; more animations (such as a backwards-walk and strafing) will be added later, and other tweaks (such as animation transitions and recoloring of the player's eyes / mouth) will also be implemented in the near future.

Why it's face is white?
That's just the color of the material that was included with the model, I'll update it later.

Got the avatar walk animation working in game! Now just need to figure out how to trigger the animation while moving the player, and how to make the camera / player head move independently of the animation.

Also, it wouldn't be overly difficult later on to allow the player's arms to bend using bones, if that's what y'all would prefer.

The animation rig for the model is basically done! I currently have a walk and idle animation set up, and will add a jumping clip later.

I really like how it's basically "a person", just in that flat-shaded, low-poly design philosophy of, say, the Jeep.

As opposed to something trying to be a minifigure.
It's also very unique and has it's own style; it looks like a toy, which is what I'm going for. =) The other designs are still really nice though.

Here's the BlockAmigo model in game (by Shizza04):

I'm currently setting up the scripts, animation rig and model animations for Trog's design.

I think we should try everyone's models out before we come to a decision

like GSF said, this game is meant to eventually go in its own direction independent of BL, so I'd prefer if the avatar was different from the BL one to the point that you could see the influence without crossing over into the avatar just looking like an improved version of the regular BL avatar
i still believe this one had the most potential — i like how it seems more of a blank slate than obviously a toy minifigure inspired thing
I personally really like Filipe's model as a reference for the final avatar design.

Awesome! I'll include this design as well today.

Seeing it like this from an in-game perspective, it actually makes me want to see Trogtor's character model over anything else, also I'm sure his model with a lot of customizable options will make it even better.
If he sends me the model, I'll incorporate it into the game and compare it with the other designs.

Here's a screenshot of the other model with updated limbs:

(Again, these are not the final designs) What I'll probably end up doing is include various models for the avatar that you can choose from, each with it's own customization options.

I'll be working on incorporating RallyBlock's model as a temporary avatar for now (which will later be replaced by the final design). Thanks for allowing me to use it btw. =)

i for one oppose the connected limbs
they feel unnatural
also the blockland avatar only looks ok because it's disproportionate, if you connect the limbs you gotta give it normal human proportions not some weird deformed hugehead bullstuff
I may still try one with connected limbs just to see how it looks. We'll see though

this the player avatar or riot
wow, I will admit...that's pretty awesome.

This is just going to be a temporary avatar, not the final thing. I'm also not sure about the beta player. I am going to need some kind of reference when building tools are added (like the hammer and spray can). Also, I would like to showcase them in a future dev update video.

hope you have a nice bday dude
Thanks =)
