Off Topic / How is proctorU even legal
« on: March 13, 2019, 02:31:30 PM »
literally this site pays someone in a blue polo to remote into your desktop while you take a test. ok sounds weird but reasonable
THEN you have to buy a webcam if you dont already have one and you must give them a 360 degree tour of the room you will be taking tests in
THEN they watch you on the webcam the entire time you are taking a "scheduled" test where if you last minute schedule it you have to pay late fees in addition to your tuition
Quote
ProctorU’s use of live proctors add convenience to the test-taker’s experience, and is essential to many institutions in catching breaches of academic integrity. Live proctors are able to intervene if test-takers have others attempt to sit in for their exams or use unpermitted materials on their exams. There are various ways that ProctorU does this. Test-takers connect to a proctor via webcam, and the proctor uses screen-sharing software to close out of any programs the exam candidate may not be allowed to use and also uses it to monitor the test-taker’s screen throughout the entirety of the examination. The proctor also requests a tour of the room in which the test-taker is testing and checks the actual monitor with a reflective device.

If there is a breach of academic integrity while the test taker is testing, such as someone coming into the room with him or her or the test-taker using an unpermitted computer program or website, then the proctor takes action based on the institution’s preference. Actions can range anywhere from shutting down the exam completely to simply notifying the institution of the situation, including any photographic or video evidence.
How it works

I think I got the game like soon after it was released as a birthday present from my brother. We both were excited about it because after playing the old rtb we were like woah brick physics. A year later I discovered the forum with all of it's add-ons and maps. As I got older I slowly stopped playing the game and stuck to using the forums for all of the S's&G's. So thanks guys for making it a fun 10 years!

To celebrate post funny screenshots or quotes from the forums!
I know I've got a folder of some I just have to find it

Off Topic / I need a new music station app
« on: September 07, 2018, 09:26:23 AM »
I've tried Spotify for a few months but I'm tired of listening to like 12 trash artists that I've never heard of and never favorited in order to listen to one song by an artist that I do like. If I want to listen to artists and songs that I've never heard of then yeah it's great, but unfortunately that's not what I want to do.

Pandora's kind of got it right, I am able to shuffle and listen to the exact artists I want, but on the app the only way you can add artists is by tapping the play track button and only then after the music is playing are you able to access the favorite button. If it had a quick add for stuff like that I'd be set. Close but no cigar.

I've tried Tidal and Google music and they only have their playlists and or the ability to listen to just one artists station at a time. Like why would I want to listen to u2 24/7?

So essentially I'm looking for an app where I can add multiple artists, shuffle and listen to a mix of all their songs together.

Off Topic / Old person yells at the sun
« on: May 22, 2018, 03:25:45 AM »
This is pretty much a confused rant about how I don't understand the difference between a regular shirt and upf rated shirts they do the same thing and regular shirts are cheaper than the upf specialized shirts

Ok so I work at a sporting store that sells upf 30 - 50 clothing. People will come in and specifically ask for upf clothing. Most of the Columbia brand area is upf rated. There are upf t-shirts, button ups, shorts, pants and long sleeve shirts that all specifically block out the sun as if no other fabric can do that. What I don't understand is whats the difference between any other article of clothing. Litteraly a cotton shirt will do the same for less money. Like as long as your shirt isn't super thin and you can see light through it you most likely won't be sunburnt. Its not like because you have a upf shirt on you are automatically immue to the sun's rays on all of your body, your hands, neck and whatever part that you don't have covered will still get sunburnt. I have yet to figure out why people would pay extra for clothes that point out one of the very basic functions that any other shirt could do. The only benefit I can see from these shirts is that they are silky feeling and are breathable as opposed to non breathable fabric.

I don't get it, maybe I'm wrong? Maybe I'm missing something?
Today a guy came in wanting upf 50 shirts and not upf 30 any decent shirt will do that. It either blocks the sun or doesn't idk what the difference is.

I thought it would be fun to see blfs perspective on this

My brain is doing a dumb

If you have |x|≥8
That's the same thing as  x≥8 and x≤-8
But is -8≥x≥8 the same thing as the line above?

Off Topic / Has anyone ever encountered real life surveys - I'm shook
« on: January 11, 2018, 12:40:41 AM »
So I have a retail job at an outdoor supply store and I went to go talk to these two men wearing trench coats who looked foreign and see if they were interested in signing up for our stores credit card. Well before I could get a word out they immediately asked me if I would take a quick survey for them and that they work for an international company (which they did not name). They wanted to know about optimism and how I contribute optimism to others. I was a little weirded out but I was like "well just smile when you greet someone because sometimes your smile is the first smile that person will see all day." And they they were like "ok we are collecting smiles can we take your picture?" Me being a young female that was an instant red flag and told them no please don't I don't like pictures taken. I was very shaken up after that and really paranoid as to where they went. Come to find out that there was four of them in the store asking other Co workers the same thing. After telling one of my managers that they said that it's against store policy for people to survey workers and take pictures like they were trying to do. So yeah forums pretty creepy

Off Topic / Keyboard recommendations
« on: November 27, 2017, 04:08:43 PM »
Is there such a thing as a wireless and (mostly silent) keyboard? I'm holiday shopping for one and the only ones I keep finding are kinda sketch. The only style I'm going for is a standard looking keyboard that includes a numpad, extra buttons are ok too.
